suzy roo xx
Not heard of it. D: I go to the Barton Park Clinic in Eastleigh, myself. Is it out of the way for you?
Medical intervention is a key part of recovery. You sound like you are nervous about this clinic but trust me, you have nothing to worry about. Everyone you meet will be supportive and help you to overcome your ED.
One thing I really feel I missed out on was ED friends! I have no-one to talk to in the same situation as me (although I have a lot of sympathisers). So maybe you will meet some new friends at the clinic.
Generally, at an ED clinic for the first time you are met by many, many doctors who will ask you questions about the symptoms of your ED...you may be suprised at how many symptoms you have.
During some point in the session, they tend to calculate your BMI and show it to you, so that it is clear how you are in medical danger.
My advice is to answer everything as honestly as possible, no matter how painful it is. You have no idea how good you will feel to get all your intense emotions out, as they will have centered around your ED.
Then, with your opinions and personality in mind, they will help to map out a recovery plan for you. They may choose to put you in inpatient treatment, or they may choose to refer you to councilling services. Gaining weight will only be part of the treatment, as they will also aim to improve your feelings towards food and self esteem.
Good Luck! You can do it!
thanks guys - lala, this one is quite a drive so no out/day patient options given :o(
01273 - i've been in hospital 4 times before so know all the drill. thats why they are considering this one. just, i wondered if anyone else may have been reffered too. i'm nervous as im at the point where i either GET better, or get admitted. could call it crunch time i guess. i also maden loaaaads of close friends in my previous inpatient stays. but its my health for life that i need to decide over.

I really really want to go now, I gave up my place at Cotswold house because I decided i could do this on my own. Realised now that i really cant but so want to get better and to do that i need professional help- it's just unfortunate that this unit is much further away. Are you def going?
