new exercise ideas

hello everyone.

I'm 16 years old and I've been running for about 6 months now and let me tell ya, i'm starting to get bored.

I live out in the country, and my parents will not let me run outside on the country roads (which are not traffic busy at all) because they're scared of drivers, my safety, etc. Therefore, I have been running on our treadmill, our only piece of exercise equipment. But it's literally been hours upon hours of staring at a blank wall and having nothing to focus on besides getting through my workouts. What I really wanna do, is ride my bike like the millions of other kids and cyclists you see on these Indiana roads.

I've tried pleading, offering to wear a helmet, whatever. Does anyone have any tips that would help me convince them I'll be safe? Or any other exercise routines I could do besides running on that dang treadmill?

Hi:  You might want to try some virtual exercise DVDs.  These are DVDs that you use with your treadmill or exercise bike.  You watch the virtual hike and it's like you are walking or jogging at the place, it's really rather nice. I have several for my exercise bike for example I have a Hawaii and San Fran. DVD.  You might also want to choose some exercise DVDs that involve step aerobics.   They have many types of exercise workouts from interval training to aerobics, to step workouts.  If you do or have several different types of exercise formats it will keep you from getting bored.  Hope this helps.

Hi again,  There are different kinds of virtual DVDs.   One is Jog/cycling in Connemara Ireland, another one is Rome Italy Virtual treadmill, Cotswold villages walk, virtual hike in Maine, to name a few.  Also if you have an exercise bike Cyclevision is good.  You can find virtual DVDs on the internet, just google virtual exercise or virtual treadmill.  Thats how I found them.  Hope this helps and good luck.
