New Find - Complete Protein Bread

Quote  |  Reply

Trader Joe's is now carrying a Complete Protein Bread.  It's pretty good and has 5g of protein per slice with 90 calories.  I think I might be liking bread again.

Why exactly  is that a good thing, to have more protein in a slice of bread?  Isn't bread normally eaten alongside other things?.... Get the protein that way?

I think it can be a good thing.  I eat the Ezekial bread, it is made with sprouted grains so it has more protien.  I often like to eat just veggie sandwiches sometimes, just cuke, avocado, tomato, sprouts...with this bread it makes it a more rounded meal.

Well, complete protein doesn't really matter.  As long as your diet is varied enough throughout the day, you are going to get enough essential amino acids.

5 grams isn't all that much for a slice of bread, IMO.

I'm not much of a bread eater without butter and honey, so to find one that tases good with mustard spread on it or chicken salad or an egg is a find for me.  It's a bonus for me that it apparently has complete protein so I don't have to (once I've verified this) think about which amino acids are missing.

Thanks for the suggestion, i have to check it out next time i'm at TJ's.. I also like the Arnold double protein and double fiber breads.

Make sure there is not added sugar/high fructose corn syrup/glucose/corn syrup/etc in there along with trans-fats!! :)

Each slice (20) per package has 90 calories, .5g fat (not saturated or trans), 160mg sodium, 15g carb, 2g dietary fiber, 1g sugar, 5g protein, 4% iron.  The ingredients list is Organic High Protein Sprouted Wheat Berries, filtered Water, Wheat gluten, Barley Malt, Honey, Organic Millet, Organic Rolled Oats, Organic Soy Beans, Lentils, Sea Salt, Fresh Yeast, Organic Corn, Soy Lecithin, Cultured Wheat.

I'm not sure what Soy Lecithin is and I'm not sure what Wheat Gluten is, but I'll google both.  This is awesome with just mustard spread on it.
