Hello Everyone

Just wanted to ask if anyone can give me suggestions on any good exercises.  I am finally changing my eating habits but now thinking of different exercises I can do to reach my goal and stop gaining weight... I work in an office so I am sitting most of the day.  I have a half hour hour lunch & I am thinking about walking on my lunch hour and I will be joing\ing the ymca this week with my kids.. Do you think this might help me loose weight instead of gaining..

I also have big legs and always did no matter how small everyone else is, I am scared of my legs and thighs getting bigger if I jog run or anything.. Someone had told me if I used a bike that my legs would get bigger..  Is this true

Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Hello Mommy 123!

I am just trying to maintain my weight, lose a few pounds and am new to this site but it seems really helpful! I wanted to comment on your legs question. I recently got into biking and was afraid of the same thing, legs getting bigger. I do (what I concider to be) a lot of biking (60+ miles a day on the weekends). I didn't want "man legs" as I refered to them! But it's been 3 years and I am getting definition in my legs, but they haven't gotten any bigger yet. I'm sure each person is different, but thought that might help you.

Also, you have to keep in mind, as far as joining the YMCA and walking, anything you are doing that is more than you've done before is GOOD!!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Women aren't as inclined to be muscular like men due to genetics and difference in hormones. Besides, when you work out, you would be losing fat and replacing with muscle, which is harder to put on than fat. You'll actually just be shedding the fat over the muscles that will now be toned. :) So no, you won't get bigger. Muscular bodybuilding women take years to get that way on massive workout routines and possibly steroids.
Thanks everyone!!!!
So long as you are getting a good cardio workout, you shouldn't bulk up.

Walking and biking are wonderful exercises, low impact and actually fun. I've never understood the people working like dogs and looking miserable. I love to pop on the headphones and just go. Great me time.
