Hey all, I am new here today. I need all the help I can get. Got to lose 75 lbs. I don't know if I am ready, have had thoughts of lap bands, which is cheating. Then I don't know I see so many posts of people gaining back what they have lost, which I have done on WW. I am 50 yrs old w/chronic high bp, so I know I need to do this for health reasons. Plus I look down right awful, feeling real dumpy etc. I live in New Mexico, have 2 grown kids, 4 grandkids. I need to be able to hike, my knees kill me. Oh well don't really know why I posted, just felt the need to vent. Thanks

Welcome to CC!
Think of it as a lifestyle change instead of diet. Concentrate on eating healthy and getting some form of exercise at least 3 times a week. Have you calculated yet how many calories you will need to lose weight at a healthy pace?
Remember, the weight wasn't gained overnight and it won't come off overnight. Be patient and stick with it and you WILL lose the weight.
Good Luck!

Welcome Nanamoon! You'll find a LOT of support and help here at CC. I've only been here for about a month and a half or so, and I've met so many people that's been able to help me with motivation and support.
I understand it gets harder to lose weight and get fit as you get older, but it's never too late to start! I'm 20 years old and I've been battling depression and weight problems since I was 12 years old. I was once at 190lbs (4 years ago) which is the smallest I've ever been... then I gained everything back, and then some! I ballooned to 306lbs!! Once I reached that, I decided it was time for a PERMANENT change. Once you put your mind to it, I promise you'll follow through. I lost 17lbs and still going strong. All it takes is determination and patience.
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask!

Hello Nanamoon, I too am new here and i need to lose at least 70 lbs. I just turned 42 and I have 4 daughters ranging in age from 24-7. I feel horrible about my weight. I live in San Diego so everyone is thin and fit, or at least that's what in looks like to me. I have decided to lose weight to be around for all of my kids and vanity, I want to turn heads again... in a good way not in that did you see her ... way. Stay positive and I will too!
Hi, Nanamoon, I'm new here today, too. I'm 55 have 85 pounds to lose. No kids, alas, but we share our lives with a terrific terrier and a really spoiled cat. I live in Tallahassee, which is very hot and humid this time of year so exercise has been a challenge. Yes, I have a gym membership but regret to say I just haven't gotten into it. I'm doing Weight Watchers, eating 5 small meals every 3 hours and making sure I get at least 75 grams of protein a day. The best news is I'm not hungry and not really bored yet. I look forward to getting to know more about the other dieters here.
Hi there! I also have 75 to lose, and am back for the second time. I had lost 25 pounds last summer, then work stress and a new house threw me off the wagon, and, well, the 25 pounds came back on (plus 4!). So, yesterday I started again, and I feel soooooo good! I think the people on this site are awesome, and its a very supportive, fun community. Welcome!!
EDIT: Oh, I'm 35, married w/no kids, and live in NJ, but work in NYC. I just returned from a vacation to Acadia and am so angry and frustrated at myself for not being able to hike, it made me decide that I need to get back on the wagon!
