Heyy!!! Im 13 years old. Im 110 pounds, and i feel like im too fat! I play soccer constantly but one thing i cant stand is it takes me 8 min to do the mile!! It was once a lot less. I feel overweight compared to other people and i need advice!! Whats the best way for me to loose weight?? I went to the Dominican Republic once for a week and i lost a lot of weight by not eating a lot (i just wasnt hungry!) water, water , water and exercise. I cant seem to do that at home!

Any advice!! I appreciate it :-)

Oh Dearie

You are not fat. 110 lbs is actually not overweight. I dont know your height, so it may even be underweight for you.
Everyone will tell you on this site that not eating is BAD. You get yourself into starvation mode and you screw up your body really bad. I really dont think that you should be losing weight, but if you are desperate then I  think that you should follow the sites plan and get a calorie plan and follow it. You should not be having under 1200 calories per day.
Please Trust someone who has done really stupid things and starved herself as well. You dont want to do that. The best thing to do would to follow a healthy plan, you DO lose that way. If you starve yourself you just end up gaining it back really fast anyways. The C-C way helps you keep it off.

I really hope that my post wasnt too grouchy, but I just have to get it through to you that you arent fat. I cant stop you from dieting but I Can tell you the safest way to do it.
Especially if you are playing soccer, you HAVE to have food in you. I play soccer too, and if you work yourself like that without any food, its REALLY dangerous and screws up your body.

Please be healthy
*sending hugs your way*
At 13 lots of things are changing, your body "grows" fat in all the right places, places you want fat.  There is a lot of pressure for teenagers these days, I can understand, I was a teenage athlete (ballet) and was taught not to eat, to stay underweight, etc.

At 110 lbs I seriously doubt you are overweight (probably underweight).  Your body needs calories and fat at your age.  Please be careful, eating disorders are serious, and difficult to overcome.  If you have concerns about your weight, I would suggest talking to your parents, they can take you to a Doctor or Nutritionist to help you with your concerns, and guide you to a healthy lifestyle you can maintain your whole life.
Not eating is bad, trust me, you get super exhausted really easily and can't do anything, but don't worry i know what you're going through. Don't worry abouth the whole 8 min = 1 mile, you might just be a sprinter. ooh and 110 is soo not fat, but if you're gonna diet just make sure you burn more calories than you actually eat, that's the best way to loose weight. I really don't know how many calories you should be eating in a day since i'm really not much older than you but listen to these people they seem to know quite a lot about this kinda of stuff.

good luck.
1) at least 1200 cals a day, MORE if you are exercising, MORE anyway because your body needs them to grow bones.  Talk to your doctor before you restrict calories at your age, really.

2) there are better ways to reduce your time over the mile than losing weight.
Saroful meant 1200 cals a day, Im pretty sure
Just so ya dont get confused.
Sweetie, your going through that freakin special time in a girls life, its called puberty (but you already know that) Your motabolizm is running at full speed right now, now is the time to enjoy your life, and have some pizza. Its great that you lead an active life, so many teenagers dont. The reson you weigh more now is because you are growing, and you can expect to weigh a bit more as time goes on. An 8 min. mile is great, most girls your age havnt even had to walk a mile, let alone run one. And dont compair yourself to others. You arnt them, and they arnt you. We arnt made from a plastic mold, we are geneticly built the way we are. Keep your head up, and be proud of who you are!!!
When I was 13 I gained twenty pounds and I desperately wanted to see 100 on the scale again. What I didn't realize is that my hips got wider, and there was nothing I could do about it.

You are becoming a woman, and 110 pounds not fat for any woman, no matter what height.
woops! i did mean 1200! post is corrected!
just to repeat what everyone else is saying. i was 13 not that long ago, and trust me you can eat whatever you want, and the fact that you are exercising you will be fine.

just let yor body do whatever is has to do naturally, id advise strongly about going on a diet, not only for the physicaly side but emotion/ psychological welbeing.

once you get cals in to ur mind.... its like that concept is with you forver.

just eat healthy, and carry on with ur activity, and make it fun. thats all you can do , thats all anyone can do. eat healthy, with the odd treats ere o there, and life is your oyster.

be happy, be healthy, and enjoy life. life is to be enjoyed not endured

*hugs*

xx
You are slowing down and can't run as fast because you are not eating enough and you are getting weaker.  Your muscle tissue is being used up for energy. You are still growing and can expect to gain weight as you grow, so come to terms with it now.

What you can do for yourself now is, eat only nutrition dense foods and eliminate all junk food.  Your growing body needs plenty of calories to keep on growing.  There is a link somewhere in the forums to a list of the healthiest foods and I'll try to find that for you, or maybe someone else will.  You'll be surprised at the length of the list - there's plenty to choose from!  If you form good eating habits now they will last you your whole life.

Good Luck

Regardless... you're thin enough. Eat healthy and eat the right amount of calories. 8 minutes for a mile isn't bad at all. Be careful of how obsessed you're getting...
what if you just, ya know, maintained your weight and then you got taller (cause you will)?  I mean, random thought here.

I know what you mean about getting positive reinforcements for losing weight- but for some reason society is more obsessed with fast weight loss than with looking at or maintaining a healthy weight.

I have only one tip

Ask your parents to make an appointment with your pediatrician so you can discuss your nutritional needs and come up with a healthy eating and exercise plan.
You've got quite an advanced vocabulary and writing style for someone who is 13...
raven, are you doubting that sunny is rly 13? Maybe she is just intelligent and health-concious.

I pretty much agree with what everyone has said on here... also you do NOT need to lose weight to look thinner/improve fitness, just exercise more and gain muscle. Also, to improve running time, build up endurance by running a LOT- it takes quite a bit of work. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me :)
