Hi - I just wanted to ask if anyone out there gets as discouraged as I do?  I just started using this site January 2, so I need to be patient, right?  I am feeling better, but when did all of you start seeing results?

I am new to this too, I also started Jan 2, but I quickly lost that 10lb gain I received for Xmas.  Now I feel like I am at a stand still.  I was weighing myself more frequent but I stopped hoping that smaller amounts in a week or so would look better then 1 lb gain up and down everyday.  I know I need to put more exercise in my daily routine, which will slowly happen, I know.  I am also one that likes instant results but I know it takes time!  Ughh!  Try to hang in there and I am sure it will pay off in the end.

Ah six days is not enough time to judge your progress or lack thereof.  Unless you managed to put on your extra weight overnight, it can't come off overnight.  A slow weight loss is much more sustainable than quick fix losses.

Exercise more, eat less, eat better, eat more often.  Only get on the scale once per week, only measure once per month, and drink lots of water.

The scale is governed by many different things and you should always take a scale reading with a grain of salt... (maybe not salt as you might retain water, but a grain of something).  This article may help explain that.

One day at a time.

thanks for the words of encouragement!!

I also started a week ago and I lost three pounds this week.  I exercised 5 times though (which is 5 times more than usual).  I also have 16 pounds to go so I am still much bigger than I would like to be.  Hang in there, it takes time to establish a routine and change your life!
