I am presently in a personal weigh loss program; though I would rather classify it as a change of eating habits. Having recently retired, I began tracking my routine food sources calories, carbs, and sodium intake. These were. in the beginning, my order of priority. Beginning on Oct 6,2009, I targeted 2,000 calories a day and keeping my carbs about 250g.

With disappointing results, with a see-saw drop in weigh, I began focusing on my sodium intake as my primary objective. My sodium intake was typically American..3000 to 4000 range. Both my wife and I set a 1300 mg target. The results have been great. Not only did my weigh loss continued at a 3 1/2 oz daily, my caloric intake and carbs automatically dropped also. In addition, our pressure pressures have also dropped from 128/78 to 115/73 and steady. My wifes dropped from 143/78 to 107/71.

It is difficult to sort through the vast amount of information that is out there and when I thought we were eating healthy for all these years, I realized that the food industry was one or two steps ahead of us.

Never too old to learn
