New Group Maybe!? (No cool name yet :'( )
So I have been working on losing weight here on CC on and off for about 2 years now and have found the support on CC helpful, but sometimes I just didn't stick with it and I think that it is because the groups I joined were to large and I couldn't keep track of everyone so I would like to put out the idea of having a small group (i'm thinking somewhere between 5-10 people) where we can just come here and talk and support each other, and not have to keep track of 20 different people. (I'm not saying big groups are bad I'm just saying they didn't work for me.) So let me know if you wanna join, what you think, and if you have any suggestions. I'm looking forward to making some new friends! ![]()
So allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ashley, I am 21, almost 22. I started out this journey at my highest weight of 200 pounds and have successfully lost 28 so far. I am looking forward to loosing another 25-32 lbs.
So don't be shy. Let me know if you wanna join.
Ash
Hi, I'd like to join, if you'll have me. I don't want to be annoying, though -- I'm kind of a skinny girl looking to lose about 20 pounds.
However, I really do need help. I gained all 20 of those extra pounds in the last 2 to 3 months, and I'm really having troble controling what I eat and being motivated to exercise at all. Essentially, I let some emotionally troubles throw me off my healthy course, and now I need major help getting back on track - I just need some people to be supportive, positive influences on me to make healthy choices.
I dunno if that is what you're thinking, but if so, I'd love to be support for you. :)
Welcome Pumpkin! I'd be glad to have you in my little support group.
I tend to let emotions derail me from staying on track as well. Maybe that's something we can help each other on.
I'd like to join to lose 10-20 pounds!
I used to be realllly skinny and gained twenty pounds in the last few months.
I'm now determined to get it off!
I also want to lose 10 or 20 pounds. I'm real short and i just want to lose my extra baggage for once and for all.
Hey y'all! I'm 5'2"...126 pounds, looking to get down to 110ish. I like the idea of a smaller group!
Heya! I'm up for the idea of a small group as well.
I'm Danielle, I'm 23, started this at 212 and am now at 204. Looking to get to about 140. I'm 5'7 and pretty hippy so that's what would be good for me.
Welcome everyone. I am so glad that there are people out there who want to join me in this. So what do you all think about cutting it off here or would you like a few more people. I am totally open for suggestions.
So I think it would be a good idea if we took some time to get to know each other, so i guess i will begin. My name is Ashley. I will be 22 in December. My daughter is almost 2 and my husband and I have been married for about 2 years, and I really love being a mom and wife now, even at a young age. My daughter keeps me super busy, but she really is a lot of fun. Outside of that aspect of my life my goal is to open a non-profit canine rescue group. Right now I am just in the research stage...lol. Well that's about it for now.
Let me know what you all think about adding anymore members and if you can think of a cool group name
... just for fun.
Thanks again for joining my group. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
Ash
I really don't want anyone to forget about this. I'm willing to accept more people if anyone is interested.
Heya! I didn't forget. Got busy with weekend stuff =\
I'm Danielle, I'm 23. I have a 3 year old daughter (you're me last year! Lol.)
I've been with my boyfriend for 2.5 years. He has 2 kids that we have over every weekend.
I have a 8 month old chihuahua, a 10 year old himilayan and a 2 year old cockatiel.
I agree, being a mom is amazing and they definitly keep you busy!
Hey guys! No, I didn't forget, I just got distracted with the weekend, too. I had a rough night out on Friday and had WAY too much beer and then greasy diner food after. Oops, not the way I wanted to start this out! I spent the rest of the weekend kind of sulking, but now I'm just gonna move on.
Anyway, I'm Lydia, I'm 26 and I've been married about 5 and a half years. No kids...still trying to get my own stuff sorted! We do have 3 cats, though, and I basically treat them like kids, so there is that. I'm a lawyer, but barely! I just graduated and passed the bar and I don't have a job yet (which is why I've been so angsty I think). I am DYING to find a job. My husband is a photographer and has been dreaming forever of starting a studio, but I have to get a job first and in the meantime he's supporting both of us working at a coffee shop. So yeah.
It's nice to meet you Danielle and Ashley and I hope everyone else will come back and introduce themselves, too. I think it would be great if there were maybe a half dozen or so people who really want to be involved and support each other. I don't have any ideas for names, though. ;)
Hey all
I was perusing around and found this group... which looks like it may have room for one more??? Maybe, I'll let you decide that =]
I'm Jess, 20 years old. Like Danielle, I've been with my boyfriend for almost 2.5 years. No kids, but I have a 2 year old boxer/lab mix named Charlie (a girl.. just has a boyish name... and no one seems to understand that Charlie can be a girl's name) who is like my child.
Overall, I'm looking to lose almost 70 pounds... but that may change as the pounds come off... I don't really know what my happy weight would be. I'm at about 220 now, but I carry it fairly well, which makes it harder because when I talk to my friends about losing weight and getting motivated, all they say is that I look fine how I am. Which is nice, but still. I'm 5'9, so I at least want to get down to 170.
A few things I'm working on are
&nb sp; - fitting exercise into my schedule... I have a full time desk job at the moment, so I need to get it in.
- not binging after dinner
- not being lazy!! I know its vague, but I'm trying to take it up as a motto... To not be lazy in anything, to live every day to its fullest, blah blah.
If you can't tell, I tend to ramble. =]
So, let me know... can i join your group?
Hey Jess,
We sound quite a bit alike. I have the same thing, I hold my weight well and when I say I'm trying to lose 60-70lbs people don't get it. I'm also working a full time desk job so I know what you mean with trying to fit exercise in.
I LOVE boxers! I'd Loooooove to have one but I have a small apartment so I got a chihuahua instead. Lol.
I'm up for having you join if everyone else is??
We are very alike, Danielle... I read one of your posts above... I am very hippy... And that's where most of my weight is. My upper body is thin (which is why people don't think I need to lose 70 pounds) but I have those great big child bearing hips. Which will come in handy one day, but for me as of now, they are of no use.
I love love love my dog. I just moved out of a small apartment and into a house in September and was very lucky she is such a sweetheart because the leasing manager at my old apartment loved her too... the pet weight limit was 20 lbs and she was pushing 50! But Charlie is much happier in the house. I've only had her for a little over a year, got her from a shelter last halloween... she had been in there for almost 9 months, and had been adopted and returned twice... so I always say she was just waiting for me. And in a year, I have managed not only to potty train her... but to turn her into quite the little brat =]
Hey Jess, welcome!
I hear you completely about not being lazy. I kind of have a similar vague goal: to make good choices. Like not to eat so much that I'm miserable, not spending every waking moment vegging out, not procrastinating.... Yeah, it's hard to stick with that. Maybe we could have a thing in our group where we would pick one little way to achieve our goal each day or week. That way maybe it would be easier to stick with?
I definitely did NOT have a good choices day today. Sometimes I think I forget that it's okay to stop eating before I feel gross and overly stuffed. Hmm, that might be a good lesson for tomorrow.
I hear ya, Lydia.
Having a daily way to achieve our goals is a great idea... I know I make a list everyday of everything I'd like to do and everything I absolutely have to do. It helps me to not be lazy and to not binge after dinner because I have all these little projects to move on to. Yesterday I didn't finish my whole list... but I got 2/5 major things done and started the third.
Today my list include going to 2 meetings, finishing an organization's newsletter, cleaning my room, cleaning my car, and washing my bedding... let's see how I do on that, hopefully I'll have time to fit in a walk for Charlie.
About you eating so much... I've started to try to eat a cup of low calorie soup before I start my main course for dinner.. that way, I'm already a little full so I don't eat as much and usually have room for a small dessert =]
Sorry I've been a little absent. It's been a little nutty around here. My daughter is sick with yet another cold, finally with one that I didn't pick up as well (we've both been getting sick about every 2 weeks since before the summer... yeah my summer totally sucked) She seems to be doing better today but not so great the last 2 days.
Welcome to our little group Jess. Glad to have you. You seem to be working on a habit i am still trying to break... binging after dinner. I just seem to feel that after dinner i deserve a little treat and then a little one turns into a disaster. I've been trying really hard to change that though. I'll try to not eat at all after dinner or have a small piece of chocolate or something like that and make myself only have the one piece. It's seems to be working but I really would like it to just be a habit and to come naturally to not binge rather that a process of me forcing myself. But hopefully the habit will come later.
I like the idea of having goals and ways to achieve them on here, too. And I could edit the opening post to display them, just to remind us to work towards them.
Sorry to hear about your daughter being sick. I'm in the same boat. I haven't been to work at all this week and won't be back until Monday earliest... it sucks having sick kids.
What I do about the after dinner sweets, I've been taking 1 halloween chocolate. It seems to be ok. And I have a fence up at my kitchen to keep the kids & animals out of it so if I want more chocolate I have to be willing to climb over this fence. Lol. It's good for exercise when you have to climb over a million times during meals to go in and get the dishes to set the table and stuff and then bring the food out. But it sucks if you're in a lazy mood. lol.
There have been a lot of colds going around! I hope all your little ones get better soon and that neither of you catch anything!!
My after dinner sweet weakness is candy cane hershey kisses... I love minty chocolate candies and unfortunately, there are a ton around as Christmas approaches...
Speaking of Christmas, what gives! I went to the store last night and it was like walking into a winter wonderland!! Christmas is my favorite holiday, but really... what happened to Thanksgiving... Halloween just passed, I am not interested in buying a Christmas tree yet! Take your time, America, damn.
Last night I had a decent night in regards to binging. I usually binge on bread, so I started keeping the full loaf in the freezer and only having 3-4 slices defrosted for the week. So, if I do start my bread binge, I have to remember that I can only really have 1 piece, because that's it for the week. It wouldn't be so bad if it was only the bread though... my mother got me in the habit of eating toast with butter and honey. And it always strikes me odd that I binge on foods that remind me of my childhood/home (I know I'm only 20, so you guys might be like "huh, childhood, you're still a baby!?" but I live 4 hours away from any family... so I think of my childhood as time spent at home with them) like toast and honey, or clementines... mmmm I could eat a whole CRATE of clementines!
yup, rambling again... =]
I'm in Cananda so our Thanksgiving already passed. We actually had Halloween & Christmas in the stores at the same time. Lol. Now all the halloween's shipped out and it's double Christmas. It's horrible. Christmas stuff should only be allowed in stores at Dec.1. All the people that shop early is fine.. they're only buying toys and stuff and those are in stores all year..
As for the binging, there are a lot of foods that remind me of my childhood too. Or not even really that but clemintines remind me of my grandma. She eats em like no tomorrow. She's always got them out. Lol.
Smart idea with the bread though if that's your weekness.
Friday is my off-day for lunch.
I keep my breakfast and dinner to about 300 calories each, and eat whatever I want for lunch. This started because usually Friday is the day that the office goes out to lunch. I still try to cut some corners: if I order a sandwhich, I don't eat 1 piece of the bread, and I try to always get my veggies in. It gives me that extra push that I need so that I don't binge all weekend.
How are all the sick babies doin?
I hope you all have time to enjoy the weekend!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
