I am newly converted to be a Vegan and so are my children, ages 17,12, and 9. I am looking for products like laundry detergants, skin care, etc. It would also be helpful if I could purchase these at Krogers or Wal-mart.

ouch... I don't know that I would trust anything I could find at Wal-Mart even if it was "vegan". There has been a lot of corporate jumping on the sustainable bandwagon... but things like baking soda and vinegar are used for cleaning and self-care and readily available..

If you are limited financially (who isn't with three kids) and geographically when it comes to accessing places like Whole Foods / Trader Joe's, etc. then I would suggest looking for "homemade" recipes. There are great resources all over the internet. Just Google "natural cleaning products", etc and you will find all sorts of things. I use plain baking soda to clean just about everything and though at the moment I can't give you any detailed recipes (gotta go pick up my kids) I have found all kinds of great ideas on the internet...

Love and light and best of luck!

I recently started buying cleaning products from melaleuca.com  Their home care and body care products are vegan and they do not test them on animals. The faxed me a letter assuring me they did not test the cleaning products on animals. I think the vitamins by law might have to be tested on animals. I am so far pleased with their cleaning products but you have to buy them in bulk.

I have used Melaleuca before, it is a nice line of products.  I also have found Thymes.com  they have some dishwashing soap and a spray to clean the counter (and other items as well, I would guess) although they primarily have many wonderful lotions and body cleansing products.  these things you do not have to be a member or buy in bulk, which is handy.

I think I'm going to cancel Melaleuca. There aren't enough products for me to keep up the minimum monthly order. This weekend we went to Trader Joes and I am going to try their cleaning products. I like the general purpose cleanser so far it does not streak the glass.
