Hiya, I'm Nicole, 28 years old from McKeesport, PA. Just a hop, skip & a jump from Pittsburgh. I'm here because believe it or not I gained almost 40 pounds while going through Chemotherapy. I started out at 271 pounds & with diet and SOME exercise I have managed to get down to 226 pounds.

My doctor is not impressed with this & would actually like me to go through with Gastric Bypass surgery. I'm all for being thin but G.B. is just not for me. I go & see him every 3-4 months & when I last saw him in March I weighed in at 241 pounds. My goal is to be at 200 pounds by July 29th (my next appointment) & prove to him that I can do it on my own & don't need surgery.

Since last seeing him in March I have managed to get down to 226 pounds. I'm hoping to get close to the 200 pound mark and impress him. I'm also getting married in September & losing this 26 pounds wouldn't be such a bad thing!

Howdy :)  McKeesport isn't too far from me at all (I'm over in Turtle Creek).  I'm actually trying to switch offices to our McKeesport office.  That's where I first started my weight loss journey (by walking the path by the river every day on my lunch).

Why does your doctor prefer G.B?  Is it for a health reason rather than just to get skinnier?

It's nice to see that someone lives so close! What do you do for work?

The one year anniv. of my cancer of was in September '08 & I have been in remission since April 16th 2009. His reasoning is that I should have already been down to a healthy by now & he says "obviously you can't do it on you're own". He isn't impressed with the fact that I have lost 47 pounds so far.

He is looking out for my best intrests he just doesn't go about it in a nice way. I may have forgot to mention that he is my oncologist so I'm sure he thinks that he kept me alive and got me through my cancer. So I'm sure he doesn't want me to die from being obese *l0l*
