Has anyone purchased the new Hungry Girl Cook Book? Let me know what you think.
I downloaded the Hungry Girl Weekend Guide (pdf) from Amazon. I was so excited that I made like three of the recipes in one night and ate them all. I clearly over did my calories for the day, but I think the recipes were okay. I can't decide if I want to buy the book though...
I have it. I love everything about hungry girl. Their recipes are perfect for filling the junk food urges without adding too many calories. The website is fantastic, I practically live on those Shirataki noodles. I think a lot of the recipes are great, the book is great too, but you can find all the recipes that are in the book on the website for free. I bought the book anyway because I wanted to support them, but I don't think there is any new info in the book.
I actually had to special order the book, and, personally, I'm not all that impressed. It's basically a cookbook of things I have already made before, or recipies of thingsthat, despite it being 'healthier' I still wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. It's a good cookbook to start out a healthy way of life, but when you eat that way any how and need to lose weight, it kind of defeats the purpose.
I bought it too. I've only recently joined hungry girl and didn't really know too much about the site before buying it. Had I known that they were all online, I wouldn't have gotten it. Yes, there are some I've made, some substitutions I haven't thought about before, but overall, it just doesn't seem to hit on the things I really want. I actually have 2 other cookbooks, the Cooking Light Annual 2007 recipe books and The Most Decadent Diet Ever! by Devin Alexander. Those, I use ALL the time. They're both more meal based to me. And if you're looking for replacements, Alexander's book is great for things that taste exactly the same as what you normally eat. Like, she has an Italian Stuffed Shells recipe. Couldn't tell the difference between what I normally eat and that.
So, I say just stick with online.
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
