A new kind of group as in one that doesn't fade away. I see a lot of groups that form and then fall apart (I admit I stopped writing in one after not so long). I'm looking for a small group that are interested in natural weight lose. I'm just looking to lose 13 pounds right now, but any goal weight is welcomed. I think it would be nice to have some likeminded people to email and support each other.

A little something about me: My name's Amanda and I'm a 16 year old girl that's really into health for myself and the environment.  I like meeting new people, but I'm pretty quite (not so much online though).

I know there's a lot of groups out there right now but I'm hoping a couple of people might be interested.

I want to join!

I am 17 and I go by the name of Neffy. I am trying to lose around 17 more pounds the healthy way (as in exercise and eating properly. Isn't that why we're all here?) I love the summer, shopping, and a bunch of other typical girl things.

Yay! I was unsure if anybody would join, considering there's a different group every two minutes. So feel free to add me on your friends list and e-mail whenever you would like. I wonder how many other people will join...

 I am deff interested in a group that actually lasts, I am trying to lose weight again after gaining about ten pounds. Originally I lost 20 pounds the healthy way last year so i quit counting cals for awhile & i ate way too much. So now i am back for more support.

My name is Bee and I am 17 my current weight is 132  I would like to get back down to 120 first and i dont know if i want to lose anymore weight after that.

also i am 5'2

I'm glad this is working out :). We should probably choose a day that we all can weigh in on, like a Friday or Saturday. I was thinking that the reason so many groups fall apart may have something to with the fact that there's nothing to write about. They write their stats in the beginning and make a commitment to weigh in every weekend, and then they just get bored and flake out. So since this is somewhat of a support group we should probably make sure to write about our struggles and anything else on our minds. I hope I'm not coming off as some tyrant Undecided lol.

About my struggles I have a problem when hanging out w/ friends (esp. my boyfriend) to eat healthy and not eat the junk food everyone else eats (lots of frozen goodies, toaster biscuts with loads of butter, starbucks food i get for free). SO bascially NONE of my friends care about eating healthy, i know i am doing this for me but its so tempting to just eat all the bad stuff when there is no healthy options for me.

Anyone have suggestions for me?

Amanda, you definitly not a tyrant! You're totally fine.

My best weigh in days are Fridays or Saturdays. I prefer Saturdays because it's easy to roll out of bed and go weigh myself since no one else is up and around by the time I actually get up! hahah. My scale is in my parent's bathroom, so I hate walking in their room when they are in there. It's just so... weird.

My statsss are

Current weight: I just weighed in at 130, but that's with clothes on and I am kind of *bloating* stupid period. My last acuate weigh in read 127.5, so I'm sticking with that.

Bust: I'm not entirely sure... I think I'm at like 35 or 36 inches.

Skinny waist: about 26 inches

Waist: 29.5 inches (yes, I must include the .5. I have been a 30inched waist girl for too long! this is measured at my belly button)

Lovely handles: 35 inches. (it's all downhill from here)

Hips:39 inches

Thigh: 23 inches around at fullest point.

Goal weight: Here I put in 110, which I would love to be! But I probably will only get around 112-115. But my ultimate goal is 110.

My struggles are when I go babysitting and the parents say, "Oh, eat whatever you like, but be sure to have (insert yummy food item here)" It totally sucks because after you put the kid to bed and just want to eat. I love carbs like pretzels, white bread, desserts like cheesecake and frozen treats like ice cream... I just seem to always love high calorie, high fat things. Which totally sucks when you're trying to lose weight. (Don't get me wrong... I love fruits and veggies too. I just like not good for you food more. Like, put me in a room with twenty of my good friends and say we're throwing a party. I would touch the chips before I would touch to fruit platter, on a regualr basis. Now that I am trying to lose weight I would go for the fruit platter first.)

Bee, I have friends that could care less about what they eat too. When you hang out with them just tell yourself to eat less. Order smaller portions, and don't be afraid to leave food on your plate! The best advice I ever got was when someone said "mentally cut your meal in half. When you get to the half way point, ask yourself if you feel full. Drink some more water if you don't and ask yourself again about 5 minutes later. If you are, stop eating." or something like that.

you guys still looking for another memeber? i would love to be in this group and would love support that doesnt go away after a few weeks:) actually, my story is very similar to tiny-bee's with the losing weight then gaining some. ill write more in another post soon!

Hello I’m Torie :]

I’m 17, play lacrosse and love art, fashion, and God. <---(Lame introduction) I also prefer Saturdays for weigh ins, so I’m not rushing out the door on Friday mornings, before school. My struggles would be loosing weight unhealthily. I also have a problem eating when not hungry or if food is just there.   

Height: 5’7”

CW: 130ish, give or take. (My scale is broken)

GW: 120ish, but to mostly to be toned.

Saturdays work well for me. So as of today I weigh 125.6, which means I've gained a pound. I'm 5'9, and I want to get down to 117. That's only 8.5 pounds, but it sure takes a while to get there for me. The thing is my body naturally goes down to 120 when I eat the proper amount of healthy foods. I don't cut calories I cut bad foods. I'm not sure what my measurments are. Just the only problem is staying on track. My struggle is I eat way to much when I'm down. Something like the number on the scale that went up today could send me to the cookie jar if I'm feeling fragile.

Bee, it's hard not to get persuaded when you're on a diet. Especially with starbucks food! Neffly had good advice, the only thing I could add would be eat before you go out with your pals. When you're around junk food on a full stomach then you won't be so tempted to eat it. I find just a salad can make a world of difference.

Neffly, at least you're going to the fruit platter first now. Do you babysit a lot? Maybe you could just bring some healthy snack that you can rip into when the kid's asleep (I suggest something like raw chocolate cake! I'm kind of a raw food enthusiast so I might mention from time to time the wonders it has on health). I'm not sure that's much of a help, but the good news is you're already making small changes that will add up in a big way :)

 

I think i am starting to get sick :( today i weight 131 which is weird because yesterday i was 132.. maybe i was bloated or something..

Neffly: thanks for your reply post, those are some good ideas. Yesterday i actually just brought some food with me over to my friends house. I am going to try what you said about cutting my meal in half and so on. & your post about babysitting made me hungry! lol Just try to find all the good for you food at the peoples house your babysitting at. Thats awesome you love fruit and veggies so just stick to stuff you know is good for you wehn you there.

Amanda: yeah & dont forget all the free starbucks drinks! lol. I usually try to eat something before i go out but maybe i should try to eat something a little bit bigger to keep me full longer so i won't fall for tempation. I hope your not feeling to down about your gain, it was only a very small one so you shouldnt feel bad about it at all. you sound like your already a thin girl you weigh less than me and are 7 inches taller! lol

Hello to everyone else, torie and sourapple. Sourapple i hope you dont gain weight back a lot like i do sometimes i feel like it harder to maintain my weight than actually lose weight. Do you ever feel like that?

Anyone exersice here? I recently started trail running :)

Good job on starting the trail running, Bee. My lacrosse season just ended, so I'm back to running on my own again, which can sometimes be hard because of my lack of motivation. I actually ran today, but my problem now is that my three mile run is no longer a hard workout. I’m thinking about upping my miles but I’m not sure how many to add.

It's really weird to read your comments because I feel like they could have been written by me! I'm in exactly the same place. I'm Alexa, I'm 16 going on 17 in june, and I am in an endless weight gain-lose cycle.

During the winter last year I  was stage manager for the musical so that meant not only could I not exercise since I didn't get home until 9 each night but also I was constantly exposed to brownies and cookies and cake backstage. So I gained a lot of weight. When I got to be 140, I freaked out and began exercising obsessively, and that's when I joined this website. That summer I whittled myself down to 113. Then, my mom freaked out and made me go to the doctor, which was very dramatic. So she convinced me to switch my mindset back to gaining weight.

So then this winter I didn't learn my lesson and over-ate at rehearsal. Now I'm back to 140! I hate it!!!! I want to get down to a healthy weight FOR GOOD!

I have really high hopes for this group, especially since I have a lot in common with all of you. Such as, I like to weigh in on Saturday mornings because my scale is in my parents bathroom and I feel awkward going in there any other time!!! (neffly :)) And I definitely struggle with eating healthy with my friends, cause they just eat whatever so then I do too. It's nice to talk to people going through what I am!

Hey so its sunday and usually today is the day i relax and dont really count calories but i try not to overeat as well. So asmy treat for today I had 2 pieces of blueberry streusle bread and it was so yummy!

Torie: trail running is really fun but its a super intense workout. Good job on pushing yourself to run, i need modivation too. 3 miles is good! But if you feel its not enough just keep running untill your tired. lol Try starting out with adding another mile.

Alexa: Hello and welcome to our group, I am glad you feel like you have things in common with us because i think that is what makes a good group. You gotta feel connected with the people your talking to. I to have been in a weight gain- lose cylcle similar to yours however i did not lose as much weight as you. It is very frustrating because you know how you have been at a lower weight and somehow you are now at this higher weight and you feel like your body isn't at the right weight now. but i know that the more times i will try means i will eventually get it and be able to maintain my lower weight with out gaining weight back.

To everyone else: What are some of your healthy lunch staples, I'm sick of my sandwiches so if you have some ideas for me i would be so greatful! :)

hey everyone!

i totally think this group will last for a while because of how similar we all are.  I bet well all be able to understand each other and give good advice.  Similar to Alexa, I feel like these posts r written by me.  Oh and Im also leaning to Saturday for weigh in days cause, yet again, im the same as Neffly and have my scale in my parents room and don't like going in their room while there in there to weigh myself.

Alrighty so heres my story:

So January of 2008 I was like 152 and then by starting to watch what I was eating and exercising a lot I got down to 124 by August.  But, my doctor said that I had lost it to fast and wanted me to get up to 130.  In june I was probably not eating enough calories for how much I was working out.  So then I mainted b/t 130-135 until about decmeber.  Then I started gaining and got up to about 139 by March.  Then for about a 3 or four weeks I stopped mindless eating and got back down to 132.  Well, now im at 142 and ready to get back down and stay there.  Sorry that was so much stuff, but I think if we all share we will all get to know each other better.  Anyways, right now my goal is just 135.  If I get there I will try for 130.   Back in november I tried getting to 125 but I honestly think my body type is much better at 130 and thats what my bodies "natural" weight is.  

Oh and im 5'4, 15 and will be 16 in a few months

Im also leaving for a 4 week vaca for all of July so am hoping to get back into shape by then

Tiny-bee, im also looking for more lunch ideas beacause i bring salads to school everyday and am almost getting sick of them. also its kinda of embarassing that people are starting to metion how much i bring them.  but some good lunch ideas that I like for winter are soup in a thermous because its warm, yummy and pretty lo cal.  Some other good options are hummus and pita with tomatoes and lettuce, and also salads with chicken or some protein are good as long as u mix them up enough.

Oh some stuff about me-I really like art, LOVE LOVE LOVE cooking, watch a good amount of t.v. shows:), I like to run and I just played my first year of lacrosse 

 

Sourapple: we should totally have a long post competition. Hahaha. sorry, that was the first thing that came to my head. c:

Amanda: I used to babysit a lot, but not it's spratic. But I did have a week in there where I babysat for like three or four nights (I have no social life!) straight. It's good money, so I won't stop, plus I love the kids. I did, while I was on weight watchers, pack a cut up apple and some pretzels in a baggy to munch on and that did seem to help a lot (but certainly didn't stop me from breaking into their candy. hahah. every once in a while it's alright to have a little bit. c:)

Bee: I am trying to get back on my exercising. I certainly will once school gets out in a few days. I normally jog on the elpitical for about a half and hour and then walk for about 10 minutes on the treadmill to cool down. And mornings and nights I will do lunges and sit-ups and other little excerises like that. I normally go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, but in the summer, I might end up going everyday but Sunday (I'm a Christian, and totally believe in resting the 7th day. Rock on).

Everyone else who has a scale in their parent's rooms: It's so weird isn't it? ugggh.

Hey all just thought i say hello today. Well I got out of school a bit ago and now i have to go to work quite soon which sucks but i love the money :) lol. Does anyone else have a job yet? I have been saving my money for about 2 months or less now and already have a pretty decent amount saved up, i'm really happy.

Sourapple- I love cooking too! I go to a occupation skills center half of my day instead of staying at regular school and i am in culinary arts! We bascially run our own restaurant! Its so fun and such good expierence. Is something like this offered at your school? And thank you for the lunch ideas i like the pita with hummus idea trader joes has really good hummus i've tried the jalopeno one and also the white bean one.

Neffly- Your exercise plan sounds great! I'm not exercising much right now because of school and work interfering so I am kind of waiting till school gets out to start a program. right now its mostly just trail running when i have the time.  I really would like to not only lose weight but to get very toned, that is one of my goals this summer.

Anyone else have goals they would like to achieve over the summer?

Today went pretty well eating wise; ate five fruits/veggies and drank eight cups of water. I could have a done a tad better on dessert but hey, I’m not torturing myself over it. I decided not to go for a run today because yesterday I biked 18 miles, and even though I’m not sore, I wanted a small break.

Sourapple:  That is so weird; I just finished my first year of lacrosse too! I played for my High school team. And the bright side of your weight fluctuating throughout the months is that you did not gain all of the weight back, which most people do. Btw, I also love art.

Neffly: Your school gets out in a couple days!! My last day is June 17th.

Tiny_Bee: I’m currently unemployed aha, but during the school year I babysat three out of the five weekdays. On Saturday I went out with one of my friends to get applications from many different stores, even though I’m not totally convinced that I want a job this summer.

Summer Goals:

Exercise at least 5 days a week

Not to gain weight

Go to Lax camps and a Christian camp

Paint everyday

Write more often

I have more but I have to go to my lax banquet :]
