NEW 15-20 lbs. club (CLOSED - to keep it small)
All the groups that I have come across are from February so I decided to start a new topic.
I am looking for a couple women, age 20-30 who are interested in losing about 15-20 lbs. We don't all have to be the same but it would be nice if we were close to the same stats.
I am 21, 5'3" and about 150 lbs. That is WAY too heavy for me. I can't believe I am 150 lbs. I have always hovered around 145 lbs but I dont know why this summer has been so rough to me.
I am going to start teaching school in November and I have lots of really cute clothes that I want to look great in, they fit now but they are a little snug (size 6!) so anyone that wants to get committed and receive some real support POST and tell us your ups, downs, struggles, worries and maybe we can help!

Lovinmylife24-
I know what you mean with diet coke. I have started with diet sunkist and sprite..they are still sweet and I can handle them. I am just so used to regular soda that diet is horrible. I am trying though!! We can DO IT!!!
I started off with 7-Up and Sunkist. I LOVE Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper. That's my favorite. Well, the one day I went to the store and behold...No diet cherry vanilla dr pepper. So, I decided to get a 12 pack of diet coke. I didn't mind it and now I dont mind it when I am out. I usually try to stick with the unsweetened iced tea but carbonation is good for me once in a while.
It is my TOTM right now so I am not totally thrilled with the weigh in being tomorrow. I think my initial weight on this thread was 145. Today and yesterday mornings I weighed in at 146 so hopefully for tomorrow's weigh in I can be at least the same as start weight of 145.
I am thinking of starting the journal on here. For some reason I think it might help me be more disciplined.
*Edited for incorrect spelling.
Hey everyone!
It sounds like everyone is having the same struggles. Late night eating and resisting temptation! I think we should all be proud of ourselves so far though because we've all been able to stay on track!
Stacy: I haven't been able to resist weighing myself every day either, but luckily I find that either outcome really motivates me. If I see a drop, I'm motivated to keep on seeing that number drop and if I don't, I'm motivated to keep my calories low since it's not working yet!
As for snacking, I found this tip in one of the forums: I think about how much better being skinny feels than the small feeling of happiness I get from an unhealthy snack. If I'm hungry, I've found that almonds are really satisfying, but don't eat too many. Also, Cutting up an apple makes it seem like so much more food than just biting into it. You guys might want to try that.
Sometimes though, I think we just have to White Knuckle it! My boyfriend ate two burritos right in front of me last night while I had tuna salad (fat free mayo of course) on a tomato. It was torture!
Looking forward to the weigh in tomorrow. Are we just posting here I suppose?
Good job everyone. Sounds like everything is going great. I bought a digital scale for like $40 and it was a really great investment. I actaully trust the numbers.
Laura, sounds like you did really good at Jack in the Box (we don't have it in Canada but I've seen ungodly commercials about their food so good job on the salad!)
I forgot that Thursday is weigh in! Next week I'll have to change my zig-zag schedule so I don't have a 1700 cal day (today!) on Wednesday!
Like I said it's a 1700 cal day for me today and I am finding it really hard! I just dont eat things with many calories I'm finding out. You should see the amount of food I am eating today! I have everything entered in until dinner (and its WAY more than I usually eat) and I'm only at 1500! AH! I guess a handful of nuts will fix that.
I did that women's health full body workout on Monday then I rode my bike to work, went for a 30 minute walk on my lunch break and then rode my bike over to my parents for a visit. I thought that I would just push through the pain and maybe riding would loosen me up but I hurt so bad today! I can't even sit down without wincing. I kinda love it though because I feel like I really worked hard. Should I work out tonight like originally planned or have a completely rested day (I drove this morning!)?
I was actually just going to ask everyone about the pop/diet pop situation. I go in pop spurts. I usually never drink anything other than water and crystal light or tea but the past couple weeks I have been craving pop (I think its all the hot weather...) I never drink "real" pop because I just can't imagine ingesting all those sugar calories so I drink diet but I still feel guilty about the aspartame. But I found diet crush (cream soda) and it's made with Splenda (not aspartame) so I'm kind of excited about that. And it tastes good, I find aspartame has a chemically taste...
I am making this really good recipe I found on health.com for chicken enchiladas
http://eating.health.com/2008/07/10/ingrid-ho ffmans-summer-fiesta-chicken-enchiladas/#more -537
they look really good and tasty and healthy! I'll let you guys know!
Sara, ya just post your numbers on here. Your previous and this weeks numbers.
Lauren, it's my time of the month too AND I am on a 1700 calorie day the day before weigh in haha so it should be just GREAT.
Has anyone tried Fresca? Or Cherry-Citrus Fresca? I found that its one of the best pop drink. It's zero calories but its really great. I don't really like coke or pepsi or anything cuz it's too harsh for me. I like fun drinks like cream soda and root beer haha.
p.s. I am really enjoying Luna bars right now! ![]()

Haven't tried Fresca. I've seen it though. Maybe will give it a try. I usually like lemon-lime type sodas.
Are the Luna bars worth the cost? I am loving Fiber One bars. I eat one every afternoon. I need pretty much any food that will help my digestion. I've looked at Luna bars but haven't gotten up the nerve to try them yet.
Oh they are so good. I find them on sale sometimes and thats really the only time I'll buy them. I found them on sale the other day for $1 a bar (so I saved like $1.50/bar!) so I bought a bunch of them. I read about them lots in womens health and then I tried them one day. I love the Nutz Over Chocolate and S'more bars. Those are the 2 I eat most. You should definitely try them. Only 180 cals and so dang delicious. I have never eaten such a good protein bar.
I don't drink pop all that much actually. I pretty much stick to water and coffee. I DO drink diet coke with some rum though on weekends for a treat. My fiance and I were having a drink almost every night with dinner. We have been doing pretty good the last few weeks with only having some drinks on the weekend...and I limit myself to two days only..not counting Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It has been so hot that it is nice after a long day to sit down with a cold drink, but the calories are just not worth it. I also think that alcohol really interferes with losing weight!
Doing pretty well with eating! I am having a salad for lunch today..so yeah for me!
Not really weight related, but I JUST officially booked my honeymoon today and could not be more excited right now! We are going to Mexico and are staying at this beautiful all inclusive resort about a half hour from Cancun! I cannot wait! Now it is giving me an incentive to eat healthy so I can look amazing in a bikini without a gut. Let's all just hope I don't hit a hurricane considering I am going in July. We did buy travel insurance just in case, but I dont want to use it.
I can't remember who said it, but someone mentioned about losing weight slowly. That has been my mentality for the last few weeks and is working out better for me rather then focusing on losing a ton of weight in a short amount of time. I am happy if I have a deficit in calories...even if it is low. A deficit is better than a gain! I only had two days last week there I ate more than I lost. It makes me feel good that I am not gaining...well in theory anyway. I am afraid of what the scale thinks!

I LOVE those two flavors too! I'm a chocolate fiend, so any chance at getting even a small chocolate kick is good news for me. I also really love the fiber one bars. They have a kind with chocolate chips that is absolutely delicious! It's very sweet, so if you aren't a big sweets person, then you might not like it. But I do find that they really help with digestion.
As for Diet pop, I've actually always been a diet coke person. I do realize that the aspartame flavor may be a little too strong for most, especially if you're used to diesel (hehe). Has anyone ever tried Dr. Brown's diet Black Cherry soda? It's really really good, but I'm not sure if it's a regional brand. I think anything like that though (rootbeer, cream soda, etc...) tends to have less of an aftertaste.
I think everyone can sympathize with totm. And we will all be there one of these weeks, so no worries!
Stacey -- I'm really excited to hear how your recipe comes out! I love Mexican food!

I went to Mexico on my honeymoon also (with my ex husband). We went on a cruise to Key West, Fl and Cozumel Mexico. It was beautiful!! Lucky you!
I'll be going rafting this weekend and I was a little scared because the tour company I'm going with provides the food. I checked out their menu and it doesn't seem *that* bad, although every item they have is going to be higher in calories than I would usually buy I bet. I'll just have to remember to stick to my portion sizes.
Oh! I bought a book last night called "New Lifting Rules for Women." It's been talked about on CC before. A lot of people have said they're only doing the excercises and not following the nutrition plan, but the meals seem pretty easy to put together and most are around 300 calories. I'm going to try to incorporate as much of the nutrition plan as I can and of course, the weight lifting plan. I'll let you guys know how it goes! (I'll be starting it when I get back from rafting).

I'm going away for a long weekend of waterskiing, tubing and possibly wakeboarding (I've never wakeboarded before and I've heard it's hard) Problem is, it's with a bunch of guys who will most likely be eating a lot of crap and I'll have to kind of go along. Hopefully I can burn some of those extra calories off with all the activity, but I totally know where you're coming from!
The thing I'm most worried about is night time when there will be lots and lots of alcohol. So many empty calories and so tempting -- especially when everyone's doing it (peer pressure!)

Just bring easy things to eat healthy. Like instead of snacking on their chips try those Rice Works Sweet Chili Rice chips (they are SO good and come in a bag just like chips) pack some Luna bars for breakfast instead of the crap that they will eat or just keep to your portions. Bring turkey hot dogs and whole wheat buns, bring fruit and lots of water. It is possible to go camping and keep healthy. Trail mix is a great camp fire snack and its healthy.
As for drinking. Pick one night to drink and mix with diet pop and do something like vodka/rum/tequila that is relatively low in calories. I know you think if you don't drink your not going to have fun or everyone will think your uptight or something but no one really cares. I don't drink that much or that often, even when people are and its really not THAT big of a deal.
But if you don't want to do any of this, just remember its all about moderation, moderation, moderation! Have the things that are there, just keep it in control. You will do fine. Just remember you have to answer to 7 women when you get back! haha make us proud!

Lovinmylife --- What time of year did you go to Mexico?
We went in May. It was gorgeous!

Speaking of Luna bars - I just found a coupon for 1.00 the 'organic marketplace' section at Wegmans so on my lunch today I am going to run there and try a couple out.
Weigh in is today....I am happy to say I am back to where I started at 145! That's at least what I was hoping for. However, I had a soft pretzel and 2 beers (bud light) for dinner. Last minute baseball game plans. But...it was a whole lot of fun. I believe I was under my calories.
In either case, I didn't exercise again. Not making excuses or anything it just didn't work the way I was planning. Keep on truckin!!
Good morning everybody. Here's my stats:
BW: 130.4
CW: 129.0 - 1 lb down from the beginning. This really motivates me to do better.
GW: 115
I am very excited that I saw results already even if I know that is just water weight and it will go up and down all the time. 1 lb is nothing really but it made me happy (since I binged on Tuesday night) and I'll try for one more next Thursday. I know I should care so much what the scale sais but I do and I really get upset when is not kind to me. Talk to you later!
Yo, peeps. Happy weigh-day!! I regret to admit that last night I was NOT good when I had dinner with my friend... 2 margaritas and chips and salsa before my meal!!! Chips and salsa are totally my cryptonite though... I should avoid mexican restaurants because I seriously have no will power against it... SOOOOOO- yesterday I consumed almost 2,200 calories!!! AAAAAAHHHH!!
Anyway... Stats:
Beginning Weight: 145-146
Current Weight: 142-143
Goal Weight: 125
Regarding TTOTM, Diet Soda, Booze, and Honeymoons:
I always put on anywhere from three to five pounds during my period and it takes me a couple days after I'm done for my weight to get back to normal.
I don't really drink soda often because what I really love is FOUNTAIN SODA. I never buy cans or bottles, but I LOVE the carbonation and water to syrup ratio in fountain soda from a restaurant or fast food chain. Since I don't go out to eat that often, I see it as a treat and don't worry about avoiding it. I've always drank diet, though. Regular is too sweet for me. I hear that Diet Dr. Pepper is really good for a "sweeter" diet soda... Also, several of my "regular" soda drinkers swear by Coke Zero.
Booze is a big weakness of mine. I love to drink- especially wine. My fiance and I met in college where we were both in the Greek System and therefore our social circle seems to be dominated by drinkers. My biggest challenge this week is going to be a little "engagement party" we're having this weekend where everyone is expecting me to make my infamous "crazy punch" and I have no idea how I'm going to be able to resist it. I can definitely fix some low-cal BBQ, but the BOOZE!!! I love it!! I have heard from a million people, though, that cutting alcohol totally jump-started their weight loss... : (
I'm trying to decide on where to go for our honeymoon- I'm thinking Costa Rica... Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone been to Costa Rica before? I've always wanted to go...
Happy weigh in day to everyone!
Here are my stats!
Before Weight: 139
Current Weight: 137.5
Goal Weight: 125
1.5 pounds! Now, like others have said, this could just be water weight, but I'm happy with it. Hoping to lose 2 pounds a week, so this is a good start considering it hasn't been a full week yet.
As for the booze. I know that nobody will think less of me if I'm not drinking...it's more of an enjoyment thing for me. I like the booze!
But I am going to try to keep it under control this weekend because I know I have a lot of ladies to answer to if I don't
But I totally get the chips and salsa thing too...they're one of my many downfalls as well.
Stacey, you had some great tips for my trip. Thanks! I went out last night and bought a bunch of luna bars (on sale for $1.50 -- where are you guys finding these $1 bars?? Sheesh! Maybe Chicago's more expensive...) and a box of Fiber One bars...although I decided I needed to have one last night and had two. Whoops. But I was still under my calories.
Guess that's all! Keep it up everyone! I'm proud of us!
Everyone did so good! It sounds like there were a few minor pitfalls but everyone is down in weight which is very nice!
Today:
Beginning Weight: 150
Current Weight: 147 (!)
Goal Weight: 130
I am down 3 pounds! I am really happy, it is probably just water but I am really excited. I haven't cheated, eaten over, snacked at night, NOTHING all week and I am so proud and happy that it actually matters!
What does everyone think about cheat days? I believe that they are necessary and my boyfriend and I have decided that we will not eat junk unless is it on Friday OR Saturday which will be our cheat day (he even went to the movies last night with his buddies and didn't have popcorn, pop or candy! what a good boy haha).
But as for cheat days, are you able to cheat and blow your calorie limit or cheat within your calorie limit. It's good for me because I am zig-zagging and on Friday I have planned a 1800 calorie day so thats nice!! What's the opinion of my ladies?!
Have a great day and yay for us!
I don't believe it... 123.4!
BW: 125
CW: 123.4
GW: <115
Although last night I was super tired and just ate some cereal and slept a lot. So while some of you zig-zaggers were worried about having a high calorie day before weigh in day....I had a low calorie day. Hopefully it'll stay gone though! :-P
Ugh! I have the alcohol weakness like all of you. Rafting with my family this weekend...and my cousin already said she's bringing margarita mix. I think I'm gonna go ahead and drink but in moderation because hey, it's my family :-)
Hope you guys have a great weekend!!
