NEW for 2008 - 40 LBS to Lose Club - GROUP NOW CLOSED!!! (sorry)
We are looking for people who are SERIOUS about coming to check in, taking the weekly challenges seriously, offering support and asking for it when needed. Weigh-in's will be on Friday. Some of us no longer have 40 LBS left to lose, but because that is where we started and how we initially bonded, we are continuing with that title.
All those interested: Please include the following information - we would like true starting points for everyone -- I will include my own information first.
Age: 32
Ht: 5' 5"
Current weight: 165
Goal weight: 135 - 140
Starting weight: 189
Weaknesses: chocolate, sweets and bread.
I look forward to hearing from you all and being an encourager to help everyone (including myself) reach their goals!!!
I almost forgot!!!
1/2/08 Challenge: Stop beating yourself up over holiday indulgences. Restart one healthy habit from pre holiday 2007 (or before that if necessary!) :)
1/7/08 Challenge: Get to the gym (or your workout equivalent at least 3 times this week. Whatever your workout is - GIVE IT YOUR ALL! :)
1/14/08 Challenge: Fit in an extra serving of fruit or veggies every day this week (which means you will ultimately have to eat the required daily allowance, THEN an extra serving daily)!
1/21/08 Challenge: Log EVERYTHING that you eat on this week - from the biggest thing to the smallest - even bites of something count. It is not necessary to use the log on CC, and estimates are fine. Good luck!
2/4/08 Challenge: Make ONE VERY AMBITIOUS goal for yourself and make small changes to reach it. Let us know what the goal is - maybe others can offer advice/tips on how to help you reach it!
2/18/08 Challenge: Do something good for your body today - it can be anything from making a doctors appointment to check on an ache or pain, to having a mani/pedi/or facial to give your winter skin some relief, or exercising a little longer/harder/faster to get it to fighting stage. It is your call!
3/3/08 Challenge: Try one new exercise on this week. Feel free to alert the group to exercises you enjoyed, or really felt the burn... the goal being to shock your body into giving you a loss. Good luck!

Hi Angelic, Jane, and Mahogany...glad to see you are all still hanging in there. Hello and welcome to everyone else who has decided to join us in this journey of battle of the bulge!! :-)
I like you Angelic haven't logged my food for the past month and I paid for it dearly (in my hips or whatever) I am still wearing a 10-12 so that is still better than a 14-16.? I plan on logging my food starting today and getting back to the gym today...I've been a TOTAL bum for the last month and the folks at the gym probably think I have abandoned them...
the healthy habits that I am restarting is DRINKING WATER and getting back to the gym!!! I have gotten out of that habit and it has been the hardest thing to start back on.

Really excited to try this with support. I've been on a plateau for about 2 months and really want to break into the 140's. It really makes a difference with support so I'm going to give it a try again.
Getting back to the gym at lunch. Healthy habits I'd like to start are at least 30 minutes of treadmill time at least 5 days a week, and drinking at last 5 glasses of water (being realistic cos I love the diet soda). And of course logging my eating every day (makes a big difference).
thanks and best of luck to all!!!!!
I have 37 pounds to lose.

Hi! I'm Katie. I have lost 40 pounds so far but havebeen kinda stuck since about october. I started doing triathlons last summera nd that really helped to tone me a little and get some weight off, but since the season ended i have had a super hard time getting my eating back down to a non-training level. I did start back yesterday on a good note! Kept my cals to 1200 and stocked up on lots of healthy stuff so I am ready to start losing again!
Here goes!
I have much more than 40 pounds to lose, but I am taking it slow and steady.
Age: 28
Height: 5'6"
Current Weight: 263
Goal Weight (for now): 200
Goal Weight (total): 145
I have never been small, but since having my first daughter 7 years ago, I have spiraled out of control. I have had no self discipline. I am finally ready to take charge and make a difference for myself. I will really need the support and I'm not gonna lie, I am not the most reliable about checking in. I am hoping that this challenge will give me the will power I need to follow through (finally!)
So I was going to have a little whine session cause I really wanted to overdose on chocolate this morning -- comfort food and all... but then I remembered that on my little spend spree to Wal-Mart that I purchased a bunch of 100 calorie candy bars - I got 3 musketeers, twix's and something else that I can't think of right now... so I had one of those with my morning coffee and viola - breakfast!!! ;)
I know - not the healthiest choice, but within my calorie allowance and in my log! :)
Happy Thursday all!!!

Just starting back from last year i had lost 10 lbs but have gained it back. I had a car wreck with my daughter in car, had to have an emergancy surgary and tube removed. then in November had to have another surgery. so last year was a bad one. But this year i am going to get back to eating right and losing weight. Here to the New Year and New Me.
Ok, so I got some good news last night, and to celebrate I decided to have a couple pieces of cookie dough (cookies aren't my weakness, but the dough is...don't ask, cuz I don't know, childhood memories or something). Well, 15 pieces later at 100 cals each I gave up. So I was about 1000 cals over maintenance, and my body is yelling at me today! I didn't sleep well, so it should be easy for me to be good tonight. Cuz I'm going to bed. After I get a mini-sub from Subway for dinner (yum!).
Oh, and my good news? I got a part time job at a gym in town (so extra money AND a free membership...)
Ht: 5' 2"
Current weight: 190
Goal weight: 135 - 140
Starting weight: 203.4
Weaknesses: sweets and after work stress eating
Last year when I was on leave from work, I lost 40 pounds on the Lindora program, felt great...and when I returned to work, my weight inched up...now I am 14 pounds still down but want to get back on track!
Ht: 5' 4"
Current weight: 181
Goal weight: 145 (36 lbs to go)
Starting weight: 275
Weaknesses: Pretzels (all types, plain with salsa, cheddar, honey mustard, honey wheat, ect. I can overeat them so easily) and of course, late night snacking.
For the first challenge I am restarting my exercise. I have slacked off terribly these last few months so back to the gym I go!
Ht: 5'3"
Current weight: 162.5 (every .5 counts for me) ;)
Goal weight: 125 (for a wedding in October '08)
Starting weight: 180
37.5 Left to lose...That's close enough to 40 ;D
Thank God that was my only injury. But it was that accident that caused me to get serious about my weight loss - once I was finally weight bearing, my weight had ballooned to 189 pounds... Heaviest EVER - including when pregnant! Plus the extra weight along with the injury was causing aches and pains in my knee and ankle so it was totally time. Use that to be a catalist for what needs to be done!
Brandy - That gym job sounds heavenly!!! What will you be doing there? I would love to be a trainer - my cousin does it part time, and he enjoys it cause he gets to get his workouts in while he is training others - and the free membership is a good bonus!
Welcome Candyluvr & Jennip81! Glad to have you!
For lunch today I am having a half panini with turkey and honey mustard dressing with veggie soup. Shooting for that A grade on todays nutrition! :)
I'm going to be working at the front desk, checking member's in and stuff like that. A few years ago, I was a front desk supervisor for a different gym with the same owners, so basically I called my old boss (who is now the gm for two clubs) and asked if she knew of any openings. Last night, while I was on my way home from my temp job at an insurance agency the fd supervisor for one of the clubs called me and said to come fill out an app (which I'm doing tonight) and lets get me trained :)
It is good to have connections.
BTW, if you are really interested in being a trainer, there is a certification you can get that really makes you marketable. And most of the trainers I know do train on their own time, not when their with their clients.
Also, speaking of nutrition grades...I got an A- yesterday (even with my cookie overdose) and will be getting an A today. I'm having Subway for dinner since I'm not feeling up to anything else.
I was planning a meal of chicken wings (fried in NO oil - a trick my granny taught me - apparently chicken wings contain alot of oil and juices that will do the job frying them all by itself; you just season them and put them in a pan and let them go on their own) with sauteed spinach (in a spray of olive oil, with black pepper and garlic) and a baked sweet potato. Maybe I will log it and see if that will get me my A!!! :)

I'm new to this site. A friend told me about it today, so here I am. I'm hoping this site helps me stay accountable and keep track of what food I put in my mouth, as far calories go. Im hoping to start exercising again. That is going to be a challenge since I will be starting classes up again on Monday. But that is another one of my challenges in order to reach my goal..

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
- Health Score of your overall diet
- Warning when you approach your daily calorie limit
- Overview of the good and bad nutrients
