NEW for 2008 - 40 LBS to Lose Club - GROUP NOW CLOSED!!! (sorry)

Quote  |  Reply
All -- this is a continuation of the original 40 LBS to lose club started by JDBECKERS.  Due to the inactivity of the thread starter as well as the drop out of some of it's members, it was decided that we would begin a new thread.

We are looking for people who are SERIOUS about coming to check in, taking the weekly challenges seriously, offering support and asking for it when needed.  Weigh-in's will be on Friday.  Some of us no longer have 40 LBS left to lose, but because that is where we started and how we initially bonded, we are continuing with that title.

All those interested:  Please include the following information - we would like true starting points for everyone -- I will include my own information first.

Age:  32
Ht:  5' 5"
Current weight:  165
Goal weight:  135 - 140
Starting weight:  189
Weaknesses:  chocolate, sweets and bread.

I look forward to hearing from you all and being an encourager to help everyone (including myself) reach their goals!!!

I almost forgot!!!
1/2/08 Challenge:  Stop beating yourself up over holiday indulgences.  Restart one healthy habit from pre holiday 2007 (or before that if necessary!)  :)
1/7/08 Challenge:  Get to the gym (or your workout equivalent at least 3 times this week.  Whatever your workout is - GIVE IT YOUR ALL! :)
1/14/08 Challenge:  Fit in an extra serving of fruit or veggies every day this week (which means you will ultimately have to eat the required daily allowance, THEN an extra serving daily)!
1/21/08 Challenge:  Log EVERYTHING that you eat on this week - from the biggest thing to the smallest - even bites of something count.  It is not necessary to use the log on CC, and estimates are fine.  Good luck!
2/4/08 Challenge:  Make ONE VERY AMBITIOUS goal for yourself and make small changes to reach it.  Let us know what the goal is - maybe others can offer advice/tips on how to help you reach it!
2/18/08 Challenge:  Do something good for your body today - it can be anything from making a doctors appointment to check on an ache or pain, to having a mani/pedi/or facial to give your winter skin some relief, or exercising a little longer/harder/faster to get it to fighting stage.  It is your call!
3/3/08 Challenge:  Try one new exercise on this week.  Feel free to alert the group to exercises you enjoyed, or really felt the burn... the goal being to shock your body into giving you a loss.  Good luck!

I have closed the group at 30 members who I have logged as follows:

I believe you can do it diva.

My weigh in this morning was 222lbs.

Im acutally pretty proud of the fact that I have continued to record everything I've eaten the last couple days. I tend to record a meal and give up after breakfast..lol...

Diva: Would you happen to know of any simple nutritious meals for those that have little cooking skills. I would prefer to cook healthy meals as opposed to Lean cuisine type meals for dinner all the time... but just dont know where to begin as to not overwhelm myself.  Thanks

Thanks Mahogany, I am just fretting a little.  I am just experiencing a little instant gratification desire overload, and it would just make me feel better to know that I was getting closer to my goals!  I won't be a brat today (maybe tomorrow!) :)

i've posted this so many times as a great SIMPLE recipe...but its so yummy!

4 oz chicken breast

1/8 cup zesty italian dressing

parmesan cheese (grated)

Marinate the chicken overnight in the dressing using a ziploc bag.  Preheat oven to 425. Put chicken on baking pan (I normally put aluminum foil over the pan forr ease of cleaning).  Sprinkle parmesan cheese on chicken.  Bake about 20 minutes, or until done.

I use foster farms individually frozen chicken tenders...two pieces equals about 4 oz, and cuts the cooking time to about 12 minutes.

about 180 cals.  I normally pair it up with 1/2 cup of egg noodles with butter (brummel and brown) and peas.  Really yummy and easy!  I'll post more later...I'm a huge chicken fan, so most of mine are chicken.  I cook for one, but all the recipes can be increased to feed two, or three, or four...:)

My weigh in today is 180.6

For the last 6 weeks I have been bouncing between 181-185 so hopefully this weigh in is a sign that I am going to start moving in the right direction again.

i had to search to like the 3rd or 4th page to find us!

well we had a crazy storm yesterday so I didnt chekc in but my weight today was 193.4! Wednesday I was 197 so that is a great  number to be seeing now. Just about 8 pounds til I get to mynext goal of 185!

weigh in: 241.5

Lost 8.5 pounds in the first week despite guinness 2x/wk. Mostly water weight as described in many anecdotes. Calorie control good. Target calories: 1800, usually 1500-1900. 1900 only on 2 days with beer. Frozen box lunch supplemented with fresh, raw veggies very helpful. Some hunger but not much. Still "food obsessed" by constantly planning meals and menus. No cravings or binges. This week will try for more than 15 minutes on bike at work. I belong to a health club so I should start using it.

no1ricanbeauty, keep up the good work recording everything, it reallly opens your eyes to what you do, and makes you more accountable doesn't it. I don't know if you believe in fruit and meat together, but if you do, I really like apricot chicken, take chicken pieces or breast and brown in a pan , add bell peppers, peas, and whatever other veges you like, dump over a tin of apricot juice, or unsweetened tined apricots, 1/2-1 pkt low sodium french onion soup mix, and simmer until the whole thing is done. it can be served with pasta, or if you add enough veges just eaten by itself.

brandy, that recipe sounds great, will definately have to try it some time.

ktcort, down 3.5 pounds since wednesday, that is a great number to be seeing. I hope that you are okay in the storms.

wow, convertible chic, 8.5 pounds is absolutely awesome, well done. Keep up the good work, and don't be discouraged if you don't lose as much in the next week!

candyluvr, 180.6 is great, I knwo that you will make it to the 170s very soon.

Here things are going pretty well, was done one pound this morning which is gratifying. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

good Morning all!!  So far so good on my eating. I'm still staying within my calories and the weekend is the hardest...I can't wait until tomorrow and getting back to the gym...my body will probably protest at first but I will prevail.

My goal for this upcoming week to to actually make it to the gym at LEAST 3 times this week but I'm gonna try for 5 and to keep up my water intake and to also manage to get on my exercise equipment that I have here at home...it has been just a dust collector for awhile lately..  I'm going to start going on my lunch hour instead of after work. Hubby just started a new job so he will be going to work 3rd shift once his training is over, so it is a new adjustment for us...I just hope when he starts that shift I will be able to sleep at night. I don't sleep as well when he's not here. I wish I could be like him and sleep anywhere at any time...

Well I need to get back to the baby afghan that I am making, I have to have it finished by the week of the 19th.  Everyone have a great day and take care!!

~Rhonda Kiss

if rdjustice can get to the gym 3 times this week, I will get there as well. Ah, a goal!!

same goals as usual, gym five times 1/2 hour, one time for 1 hour, and one sabbath day LOL on saturday.

Stay in my calorie range.

Drink water.

Get more protein.

Learn one new exercise I can work on my arms besides the arm curl.

tgegogeine,

I belong to the YMCA, and I use it to work out. But I also have a wife and kids who benefit from the numerous programs they offer. If I was just needing a place to work out I would join a gym as I think a gym is more focused on the type of customer that I am. The Y is foucsed on being a lot of different things to a lot of different people, which if you're concerned about "eyes" being on you, that might be what you get from some people at the Y as many people are there for a completely different reasons than working out or losing weight. There's a good chance to run into a group of insensitve teenagers there just to play basketball. Granted, the chances of being the victim of someone's insensitiveness is probably only slightly greater at the Y than at a gym, but all it takes is one instance to completely destroy your moral, so unless you have other reasons to join the Y, I'd say join a gym.

Rhonda et al:  I am thinking that your goal would be a good week 2 challenge.  Gym (or some sort of workout) at least three times this week.

BTW:  Since I was a slob and didn't post it on Friday:  My weight was 161.  Not quite the 159 I was hoping for, but it held steady this morning so I assume it to be accurate.  So by this Friday should I behave myself, I expect to see 159! :)

Angelic

I weighed in this morning at 208. Very excited. Only 33 pounds to go!

popping out from diva:

Week 2 Group Goal: Exercise at least 3 times. Report back at weigh-in.

You go, girls! Way to go, dudes!

Jane: Thanks for the recipe, sounds yummy.. Havent tried the meat and fruit combo, but sounds interesting...

Yeah keeping track does really help. I trying to stay under 1200 cal. Even though im tall 6'4, i still wanna try and get down from 220 a tad bit faster so im hoping the 1200 will do it...

pol_spock:

Thank you for your advise! My only problem is that I live in rural PA so we do not have gyms here, only the Y! So I will take my chances and join! If I have a insentive comments made to me, so be it! I am making myself better for me and my son, not them!

Have a great day everyone!
Hi all - I am making one adjustment to our group - One member from the first group who has been going through MAJOR home life challenges is now ready to rejoin the group.

SHANFOOD:  Glad you pm'ed me to let me know you are ready to return - whatever helps to keep your mind off the could be's of your situation, then so be it!

We really, REALLY missed you! :)

No1rican:  You should try the fruit meat combo - my sister makes a chutney often to go with fish - it is absolutely delicious... I don't ever try to cook it, but I often request it when I can coerce her to cook dinner for me and my fam...

Tgegogeine:
In today's world we often have to develop some thick skinnededness - I know - not a word.  But in the end you will be the one with the healthy body you desire, more energy than you know what to do with and the hot bod you always dreamed of.  So if there is any sort of ridicule, I would keep that in mind.

I am enjoying my turkey sandwich with pepperjack cheese!  I love cheese!!!  I have some harvest cheddar sun chips and a diet soda to go along with... so far 657 calories, give or take.  :)

Going to get going on the challenge right after work - I was going up the stairs yesterday and notice a little too much jiggle to my rear end, so I definitely need to get back in gear as far as my workout is concerned.  Back to the stairmaster! :)

Diva
Hope you are all having a good day,

First I would just really like to say I am so glad to hear that Shanfood is going to be joining the group again.

Rhonda and convertible chic and mahogany, I know you can make your gym goals. I know you can prevail.

divaAngelic, 161 is still really good, I am sure it is all muscle ;-)

Kibabird, way to go, I know you can make the rest!

no1ricanbeauty, I know fruit and meat isn't for everybody, my boyfriend is a not a fan. At your height I really wouldn't eat less than 1500. I think you might find it counterproductive to stay too low. There is alot of info on the site about the importance not just of not eating too much, but also too little on the site.

Anyway today for me has been okay I guess, went back to the office and ate the last few chocolates of my advent calender, but since the whole thing only weighed 75g, divided by 24, that is only about 3 grams each, so my decade 6 chocolates wasn't really so bad after all i guess.

hope you are all doing well

Jane

Hey, check me out...I finally get back online and I'm already 1/3 of the way done with the weekly goal! :)

Good Monday to all, and good luck this week!
