I just joined CC after reading posts online for many months. I am curious to know if anyone else doesn't use a scale to measure their weight loss? As someone who has struggled with weight for a long time I decided this time I am not going by the scale, but more on look and feel. In the past when I was scale driven I would get super angry and mad when it didn't work in my direction and was obsessed with a number. So now I am trying a new method, and it seems to be working. I have been eating healthier and exercising for 4 months now and measuring loss by my waist size and clothes.
I am much happier this way and this seems to be what I need to do for a long-term mindset. Anyway, hello all from NY.
Hi there NY, CA here. I would love to be able to trust my clothes for losing weight, but it seems that every pair of pants/shorts I own have elastic in them! (Hmm, and to think last year I was singing the praises of the guy who invented elastic and this summer? Cursing him!)
I find the scale to be really motivational though. If I lose, I'm happy and I go for my walk to see what else I can lose. If I gain, I curse a bit but do more to commit myself to losing and I go for my walk anyway. Win Win for me!
Lots of people can't do this and trust their clothing and measurements for results and that makes more sense than the scale. I just know myself that I need something I can't cheat on (I can measure myself three times in a minute and get three different measurements
) and elastic waistbands will take forever before they start falling off. I need instant gratification.
Stick with what works for you. There is no 'one way' because everyone is different. So long as you know your getting closer to your goal, that's all that really matters, right? Good Luck!
