Hello, everyone!

I'm 35, married, and the mother of two wonderful boys, 12 and 8. I'm a fulltime college instructor, and I work "part time" in our family-owned business. (I say "part time" because I'm usually there anywhere from 20 to 30 hours a week.)

My husband of 17 years and I decided that we both would like to lose some weight and be more healthy. My biggest obstacle is exercise. With my two jobs, by the time I get home in the evening, I'm just beat. So, I need to learn to manage my time better so I can fit in some walking. I own a treadmill, so I feel like half the battle is over - lol.

I'm 5'6" and currently weight 181. My "first" goal weight is 150. That's only 31 pounds, and I know I can do it - I just have to focus. We're taking a family vacation at the end of June, so I'd like to be "bikini ready" by June 1. For the first time in a long time, I want to feel comfortable in a swimsuit and enjoy being at the water park and pool with my kids!

I look forward to getting to know everyone and wish you all the best of luck with your goals!

You and I have a lot in common.  I'm 5'6 also, but 43 yrs old.  I too have a goal weight of 150.  I'd settle for 160 though.  I'm currently 224 (yikes).  And my husband and I have been married nearly 18 years (March 23rd).  We have plans for early June as well and I want to drop at least 30-40 lbs by then.  Welcome to CC and I trust that you'll find many people on here willing to help you achieve your goals and I'm sure in turn you'll be able to inspire others with your weight loss as well.

If you need any help with the site, I can try to help and I know there are others who have tons more information than I do.

Again, welcome to CC : )

Welcome, Tracey! I too am 34 have an 11 year-old. I'm 5' 6" as well and I'm 185! I live "close" to you. Oklahoma!!!

I'm willing to help as well!!! Everyone here is full of helpfulness and support!

You'll enjoy it! Good luck!

Glad you both are here!!!

Thanks so much for the support and motivation! After only two days on this site, I find myself addicted!

It's so reassuring to know that I'm not alone and that there are others like me struggling with the same issues.

I would like to add both of you as friends, and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Perhaps someone could tell me... wouldn't a very compact eliptical trainer that you can easily store under the bed, be great for watching the news just before bedtime?  I sleep very well after calisthenics and don't spoil it by munching if I go straight to bed while tired.

Tracey,

Welcome to CC.  I too am trying to reach a short term goal weight of 150 by May or June. I would like to wear a bathing suit this summer and not feel embarrassed. I have three boys ages 4, 5 and 16.  For me finding time to exercise is the hardest part of losing weight.  I also have a treadmill but find it boring to use.  I just bought a DVD that I used for the first time this morning.  It is by Leslie Sansone and called "Walk at Home 5 Mile Walk".  It has mile markers where you can do 1 mile, 2 mile, 3 mile, 4 or 5 mile walks. I really liked it.  My 4 and 5 year old boys loved it.  My husband even did it for awhile.  We were all walking and kicking in the family room this morning. It's a very simple to follow DVD. There are added movements such as sidesteps and arm movements etc... to make it fun and the time go by quickly.  I live in N. Ft. Worth.  I'd like to add you to my friends list since we are both trying to get to 150. If you have any questions about how to use the site I will do my best to help you out.  I'm pretty new here myself. I've been a member since November and have lost 11 pounds since joining.   You will lose the weight by using this site.  All of us are examples that this site does work.

I agree that this site is very addicting, but in a good way.  The support is very much needed when trying to lose weight.  I am from TN and I too plan a family vacation to the beach (FL) at the end of May.  I would love to lose the weight and feel comfortable in a bathing suit.  Plus it would be nice to be able to fit into my clothes again.  You know we all have clothes tucked away in our closet that we "one day" will wear again.  I have made a promise to myself that I am not going to buy anymore clothes until I lose weight.  I refuse to go up another size!

I am a stay at home mom of three (5, 7 & 12) and just cannot seem to lose those last 20lb.  I am so glad to have found this site, I never actually watched my calories but now I am seeing how my love of Dr. Pepper has caught up with me. lol  We live in Orlando (right behind Magic Kingdom) so I want to be in shape this summer so so bad! I want to walk around the theme parks in shorts and a sleeveless shirt when our hot and humid Florida summers hit.

I is so nice to meet others who are trying to get in shape as well. :)

Hey Tracey~ I am 32, mother of 3 boys ages 8,6,and 4 months. I have been using this site for several months. I got busy in Dec (who didn't) and sort of ignored things. Logged back on today, feeling a bit frustrated and went to your posting. Just wanted to wish you luck! I am 5'2 and stuck at 150, like you it seems I have no time to exercise! Boy do I wish I could get my husband on here...Lucky you! Since we are close (Levelland) I am adding you to my friend's list.

Yes!  Hello all.  I just joined today as I just stumbled onto the site as I was asking the ol' internet how many calories was in my fav drink: Grande Nonfat No whip Mocha.  I was surprised at the answer!

Anyway, I'm 47, 5' 2" and the mom to 12 and 10 year olds.  I have always been thin until the last few years.  I've gained 20 lbs in the last 3 years!  Yikes.  I hate exercise as I'm always running around this 3300 sq. ft. home, chasing kids, and doing EVERYTHING.

Is there anyone who wants to be my buddy and help me!  Yes, I'm depressed at the way I look.  My hubby doesn't care if I weigh 115 or 215 as long as I'M happy.  We have been married for 21 years.

Help!

Di

Hello, Di, and welcome!

I just joined CC myself this weekend, so I'm new as well. Everyone is extremely supportive and will help you out with whatever you need.

Good luck on your goals!

Tracey
