Hi there I am Kathi from South Africa,  I see that your profile and mine are so alike.  I am so glad to meet someone who has a weakness for good wine and chips.  I mean the toughest part of calorie counting is the cheese and wine that I so adore.  I need to watch it constantly.  I am new to this site so i am really hoping that it is going to work.  I have been on almost every diet and I really feel like a yo -yo.  So now I am concentrating on healthy living. as best as I can.

I do well in things when I have a support system in place motivating me. Mostly I need help getting me off the couch after work... my job is stressing me out and that makes me comfort eat, crash on the couch and I create justifications for just laying there, like... I'll get to it later... It is finally later and I need to get on it!!!

16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share?  This will be my first attempt to push for weight loss. I have waring genetics (lean body types on my maternal side and heavier set body types on my paternal side). I was chubby till pre-teen, then healthy in my preteens, very slim in my teen years. Had my first child at 19 and gained about 50 lbs throughout the pregancy. Took about 2 years for my metabolism to speed up with a weight loss of about 30lbs. With 2nd pregnancy I put on about 80lbs, again it took about 2 years with a weightloss of 85lbs. 3rd pregnancy I put on about 35lbs, was slowly losing weight till went on deproprevera (approx 1 year after son was born) and weight loss plateaued for a year, then losed weight for another 2 years with a total weightloss of 40lbs. Here I am now after my final pregnancy having gained 65lbs (and down about 15lbs after the birth) and know that if I give myself 2 years I will lose a significant portion of the weight. But I am getting married in August 2009 and the wedding was purchased a while ago. It's the perfect dress, I cannot take it back, I do not wish to get it taken out. So I am eager to jumpstart my metabolism and weightloss to achieve my wedding dress goal. I know that weight loss happens more efficiently with both a good diet (and reduce caloric intake) and excercise (increasing it, and it's intensity). I have always been haphazord about food, not caring about it so much. The excercise came naturally. But this time I have to reverse the approach, as I am dealing with a slower recovery (than I am accustomed too) from C-section incision. My brain is still a spritely energentic young adult, while the body isn't recovering as fast. So unfortunately, I keep blowing my incision. It really is a challenge to slow down, but I am getting the message from my body. Soooooooo now I must look at the foods I eat, make more calculated choices, while I ease into the excercise.

16. A little history about me. I was never a big person growing up. Then life happened. It began with the freshman 15 at college. From there I had my son which aadded weight. After birth I was put on birth control, again weight gain. Then over the next several years my weight increased at a slow steady pace. Then on a whim i quit smoking this year and you guessed - weight gain. I went to the doctor shortly after that and was mortified when I was weighed. I knew I had was by no means skinny but that was a wake up call. At first I got depressed that I let my self get into this shape. Then recently I decided to do something about. So wish me luck on my journey.
