Hello! I recently discovered this site and have since joined in my attempt to lose 10-15 pounds and eat a healthy, balanced diet.
About me: I'm a 29 year old female, 5'3," and I'm guessing about 130-135 pounds--I don't weigh myself coz I find that I get too hung up on the number; I'm measuring my progress by the way my clothing fits.
I'm currently training for my first marathon (the Marine Corps Marathon in October). I'm about 8 weeks into marathon training and it's going great! I'm in the best shape of my life (in addition to running, I ride my bike and do yoga) and just want to drop a few pounds so that I can be lighter on my feet (not to mention that I'm a bit vain and want to have a bangin' body, ok?).
As such, for the past 2 months, I've been following the "South Beach" way of eating as well as counting calories, and it's been working! I'm not sure how much weight I've lost, but I think maybe 5-10 pounds--my clothes fit more loosely and people have noticed that I've lost weight. I'm using this site to monitor how much I'm eating compared with my activity level--I find that the deeper into marathon training I get, the more I need to eat, but I don't want to go overboard on eating. I really like the South Beach way of eating, and how it focuses on good carbs, good fats, and lots of "whole," unprocessed foods.
Anyway, I look forward to participating in these forums!
