New member looking for other recent ex-smokers looking to lose weight
Hi! I'm new to the group and completely new to attempting to lose weight, change my diet, and exercise regularly. I used to smoke about a pack a day for 16 years and I quit in January. As a result I've gained FIFTY pounds I never had before. I'm very unhappy about it and my body, and am ready to give it a go to lose what I gained. I'm not really that much snacking as a substiute - I've limited my craving substiutions to the likes of Wint-O-Green lifesavers, but have still managed to put on the pounds. I am looking to meet others who might be in the same situation in hopes we can support each other.
Thanks!
Hi, I'm a newbie...this is my very first post btw...
I just recently stopped smoking myself and it's been 175 days for me, I was a 3 pack a day smoker for many years, with COPD...
I finally became sick and tired of being sick and tired...so just went cold turkery (with the help of a rubber band around my wrist...LOL)
I've always been thin, almost sickly thin, so this is only the second time I've ever had to deal with my weight (the other time was when I quit smoking before, and gained 90 lbs. only lost it when I started smoking again...)
And I immediately starting putting everything I could into my mouth and before I knew it, I had gained between 15-20 lbs. so I decided to start walking and trying to get healthy...I am the full-time caregiver to my husband who is completely disabled...so trying to fit in a time for exercise is extremely difficult...but instead of losing weight, I have gained more, which was very discouraging...good thing I took my measurements before starting a walking program, because I realized that even though I was gaining weight, I was losing inches...and then I just found this site last week-end and so far, I love it...
My goal is to lose 20 lbs. so my calorie intake is at 1250 per day, which is extremely difficult to stay within that limit, but so far, so good...
So would love to meet others that are going thru the same struggles that I am...
