Hello! I'm Jenna, 21 years old, Active Duty Navy, stationed in Pearl Harbor :)

I joined this site this evening, because I bought the new Women's Health Magazine and this site was in here! I have been wanting to really get back to working out, and reach my pique ideal body type (type, not weight) and I hope this site can help!

I'm struggling currently because I injured my back doing yoga or walking the dog, can't decide which. I've been seeing the doctor, I've been xrayed, I've gotten the full works. No one knows what's up, all I know is that situps really hurt :(

Anyway, I'm joining to find support, perhaps join a challenge. Create a goal, make some friends, you know, the usual :)

So Aloha! And Mahalo for any ideas, or support you may have! BTW, if I posted this wrong, and it ends up in some section about surgeries, cats or whatever, sorry :) I'm a newbie!

Aloha!

It's nice to meet you :)
I am a military brat myself. My father was in the Air Force. While we never were lucky enough to live in HI, we did a 3 yr tour in AK! LOL
I think you got a far better deal :)

Check out the Fitness forum and I think you will find a lot of great posts that will give you some alternative exercise ideas.

If you want to join a challenge, might I recommend the Exercise minute Challenge?
Unlike a lot of the others, it is one you can join at any time.
Set a goal for how many minutes you want to try and workout over the month and post your daily/weekly updates.
If you need info, here is a link to the thread. If you read the original post, it explains how it works.

Again, welcome!

Thanks!!!

Yes, the military lifestyle can be unpredictable, and hard on people, especially when it comes to working out. I have had the pleasure of working out with SEALS for two months, which opened my eyes to the true benefits of healthy living, but then I went back to my old job, old habits, yadda yadda. I hate struggling on our biyearly physical fitness exam, because I never have time to really focus on cardio.

I'll check those forums out later today! Thanks!!!

Hey Jennay!

I also just joined this forum because I picked up women's health.  I am not in the military but I lifeguard at Hickam AFB while I finish up school.  I too am trying to get healthier, and have actually had a back problem before that no one could diagnose.  They (the physical therapists) gave me exercises to do on a swiss ball to strengthen my back and it got better.  When it gets better we can meet up on base somewhere and workout?  Although you working out with SEALs has me a little intimidated...
