Yes, the food log is really helpful. I started last year about this time and did well writing every thing down.  I stopped and I gained. It seemed like a lot of time at first but it must be done.  Is anybody going to journal?  Many people say it's crucial to the process. I would do it but I think it would only be open to the friends list.  I put my picture up but took it down because I'm a bit paranoid on forums. I'll see if I can add it for friends only since I've added you guys.  Well this is my "I really want to snack time of day" so I'll make a cup of tea and have a small slimfast bar.

Karen

I up graded to the Calorie count Plus....it's kind of disjointed and  a little harder to find things. I can't find the weight graph now either.   Oh well

Hey, everyone!  It's great to be part of this group.

Today I am waiting for my very first Grandson to be born.  My oldest daughter is in the hospital (she is in the States and  I am living in Canada Cry) in labour! Yeah!!!  I will let everyone know when my little Alexander Drake is born!

Also, I wanted to post a little update on me.  I've been dieting for as long as I can remember.  5 years ago I became very serious about losing weight.  I bought slim fast and began keeping a food/exercise diary and lost 60 pounds. 3 years ago I moved to Canada and stopped tracking my intake and regained 20 pounds.  Now I am motivated again.  I want to lose the 20 I regained and another 30 besides.  Right now I am only looking at the first 20.  I've lost 19 of those little buggers already! Yeah me!!

I am using CC and my own dairy, attend aerobics twice a week and was walking 3.7k on the other days.  But it has since turned too cold to get outside so I am working out at home with Slim in 6 and an old Step aerobics video.

What does everyone use to assist in their weight loss?

New members do not have the option of CC classic or CC+, CC is only open to those of us who already had accounts there

Also, the weight graph is on the log tab, go My Account --> go Logs --> click Weight Log (Food log is the default)

Nana -- still waiting?  Tell that girl to go for some long walks

Hurray!!!!!!!!!

I figured it out with your help!!!  Thanks so much!!!  I get confused if I have to search... either that or I need new glasses LOL!!!!

Thanks Coach K I'll stick with it. There are some things about + I like better, but there's trade off in everything.

So Nana would you say the journal is really critical to your weight loss?  It sounds like you gained when you stopped writing it down.

Karen

kjt Yes when I stopped tracking the calories I gained weight.  I am back to journaling everything that goes in along with the exercise I do every day.  I always recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight.

And Coach_K my daughter is in the hospital now-but there is the growing possiblity she may have to under go a c-section.  I'll keep you posted.

<snip>I've gotten a couple of friend notices from you guys.  What does that feature do for you? <snip>

I guess it just makes me feel.... loved Kiss LOL!!!!!  Actually, I have no idea except that if I think of something to ask one certain person I can go to my friends list (wherever that may be... I have no idea ROFLOL) and could click on that person's profile and email them or message them privately.  Other than that.... it's just the LOVE thing LOL!!!!!

Disclaimer: Even though posts by this person may cause you to think that she's two tacos short of a combo platter, she's really a very sane person... even though she's married to a Basketball Referee and homeschools twins!!!!

Good Morning everyone, hope you all have a good day today, Nana any news on the little bundle of joy yet???  going to have everyone (the kids) over tonight to decorate the tree, we do this every year together even though they don't live at home, I always get them an ornament and we have dinner and decorate.  This year we are doing pizza..... I usually cook but am so busy, not really keen on the pizza thing but it isn't my fav. so I know I will only have a couple slices and lots of salad. I checked the cal on it and was surprised it wasn't higher, although I like veggie and that was better.  Well have a great day everyone.  Betty

Good Morning everyone.  I would like to join in also.  I will be 45 in February.  I began weight loss Sept 2006 and have lost 50# so far.  Would like to lose 30+ more, currently 180.  I work very weird hours so I do have to work out after work.  I get to work about 3:15am and get off by noon.  I try to go to the gym 3-4 days a week to use the eliptical and lift weights, however here in Iowa we have been battling an Ice storm from last weekend and I have been going home afterwork and chipping ice out of my drive way.  Much more work than my workout.

For breakfast I bring a bowl of bran flakes, milk, and a banana to eat around 4.  Then about 8 I have another piece of fruit, right now pears.  If I am going to the gym afterwork I have a Fiber One bar or something similar about 11am so that I have enough energy to do a work out.  If I am not working out I usually have lunch when I get home.

Sue-I love to garden too, this year my garden was all pumpkins and gaurds ?sp? to decorate for my daughters wedding this past October.  Next year back to veggies and canning.

Have a great day!!

Welcome to the group lonestar.

I have a beautiful grandson! Alex was brought into the world 10:00 p.m. cst.  Weighing in at a healthy 8 pounds 4 ounces.  He is 20 inches long.  Mother and son are both doing great.

Of course as any proud Grandma would say~~ he is the most beautiful baby you'll ever lay eyes on! Laughing

Welcome to the group, Lonestar!!!!  You're going to love it here!!!

Speaking of pumpkins, when I was going through my major health issues Aug - Now we came across a bunch of free pumpkins right after halloween.  I gathered all I could and we put them all around my tree in my back yard and the small ones we clustered in my 3 planter barrels out there as well.  I found some fall scarecrows on sticks and put in the middle of the barrels and a big hand-painted sign for by the tree.  I would open my windows in the morning and could look at that pretty site while I walked on my treadmill.  During a time that was reminicent more of death (my MIL died several years ago at Thanksgiving, my Mom's death in the fall of 2002, the leaves dying and falling, the grass going brown in the fall, and my own health in turmoil) I wanted to see a sea of orange out there that had tons and tons of seeds (that represented life to me) that were capable of each growing about 10 more pumpkins with tons of seeds each.

As I walked on my treadmill, it gave me hope and focus... on living.  As it turns out, this past Sunday my Pastor spoke on our African Missions and how the Color of Hope is..... ORANGE!!!!!!!!!  Just one of those "God Moments" in my life... one of many!!!!

Welcome little ** Alex**!  I bet grandma's postings will be filled with updates.  We look forward to them.

Good Morning everyone, well it is one month for me today that I have been here, I think I am doing good.   Today I am going out to lunch with friends... I will be good.  But actually looking forward to not worrying too much on what I eat and may treat myself.

I find after one month I count everything I eat.  Do all of you feel you do this to an extreme? Or am I just doing a good job?  I eat my three meals and a couple snacks a day and really I eat more fruit than I ever did so I think I am eating very well I just don't want to be consumed by it.  Any thoughts?

Were are all of you from... Not everyone has a bio.  Me Connecticut.  Does anyone know a way other than writing here to write to all of you or is it just a private email or here?

well off to do my treadmill have a great day everyone.  Betty

Hi Hasta!!!!!!  I'm from Amarillo.  Go Sooners!  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sorry.... for Christmas in 1992 I gave my hubby my conversion from a UT fan to an OU fan and he accepted my gift (go figure... he's from Oklahoma LOL).  It was either that or several years of a "house divided" and separate beds!

I also attended WTSU in Canyon which has since merged with (gulp!) Texas A&M so now it's WTAMU.  Our hand sign is thumb and pinkie (hang loose LOL).  Every so often I throw in a "Hook 'em Horns" sign just to take a "dig" at my hubby.  LOL!

Wow!  I think it's great that you still count everything... it shows consistency.  I think after a while it just becomes "habit" with us.  I know it does with me.  If I had been counting years ago, I wouldn't be here today LOL!

I think we've started our own little "corner" here and to me it seems so cool!  There are struggles that ladies our age face that younger ones and older ones don't.  I'll never forget going to my OBGYN and asking him some personal questions about menopause and he said that he had a group of ladies that had some of the same problems and gave me a number to one of them.... she was 70+ years old!!  I was like.... huh????  LOL!!  Yeah, she did have 1 of my same issues but she was also a widow, elderly, and her daily activities were reading the newspaper, watching Oprah and visiting with the girls at the Seniors Center!!!

Needless to say.... I like "nesting" here LOL!!

Morning everyone. I think I count calories to an extreme.  Since I'm around a computer all day, I'm constantly updating my log.  I used to pride myself as being a hard core worker.  One that unlike my co-worker didn't shop on line, read news, check their my space account, and even call their spouses a gazillion times per day on the cell.  How much can you say to your spouse after having been with them all evening and that morning???  Well, now I've fallen into the trap with this site.  Oh well, I'll cut myself a break and indulge.  I like you guysLaughing.

I have noticed that there is a mailbox on this website, webberb.  That would probably be the best vehicle for private emails, if that's what you'd prefer.

Christmas party tonight.  It will take some willpower not to indulge in cocktails and wine.  Wish me luck.

Hi Hasta,  No I didn't mean a private email I just thought there might be a way to email all of you at once.  This is good and I like all of you too, so I will agree with you and also cut myself a break about being a bit extreme about logging in food etc.

I was good today at lunch today had a cup of onion soup and half a sandwich on panie (sp?) bread with portabella mushrooms and chicken breast it was great.

Hope all of your days are going good.  Betty
