Hi All - Can I join this group too? I am 52 so I hope I am not the oldest one here. I lost about 20 poounds a few years backand felt so good about myself...but since I had backsurgery in July I have put on an additional 10 pounds plus had put a few on earlier. My goal is to lose 15 poounds and get back tothe weight I felt good at. Unfortunately it is soooooo hard. I don't know if it is menopause or what - but I can lose. Oh - I might lose about 5 pounds now and then but always put them back on over the weekend...geessshh. I am committed though. I found this site on monday and have been faithfully logging on ( I think addicted to loggin on) ever since. Did great all week - but tonight - is my worst night for blowing my diet. TGIF... hopefully I can go out and have a couple of glasses of wine and not put on 5 pounds like usual....
Note to self - spell check!! Sorry about that. I meant to say that I "can't lose" -
oh well - sorry about all the typos.
Welcome mjaned! I'm 43 so if we put us on a bell curve... ohi.. I have done that kind of thinking since college. Point being were within a standard deviation.
Welcome mjaned!!!!!
Jeepers... my Thyroid problem has really messed with my eyes because when I looked at your post I thought you said that you lost 200 pounds instead of 20 pounds a few years back LOL!! I was like "Wow! She's done amazingly well!!" LOL! I'm 48... I think LOL!! I can't believe how our little group is growing! This is so cool!!
Ro
Well fiddle sticks!!!!!!!
I was doing so good watching what I was eating and then.... poof!! In one day I ate out a 2 fast food places and had regular Dr. Peppers.... OY!!!
Welcome mjaned this is a great group you will love it. I don't think you are the oldest but it doesn't matter, me I am 48. And spell check is not necessary.
Any of you use the food recipe thing that you put in the ingredients and it makes the recipe and analyses it for you? It is great. Hopefully accurate. I love to make my own soups, caseroles etc so I plan to use this alot.
revins don't be so hard on yourself, it is so hard this time of year to eat well all the time. The other day I was Christmas shopping and didn't want to eat till I got home so I would eat a good lunch but as 1:00 came around and I was starving I gave in and got some chicken tenders at McDonalds I NEVER EAT THERE. I found out the cal was not that bad, yes THEY were bad for me but not as bad as NOT eatting. So give yourself some slack. Well off to exercise then work. Hope you all have a nice day. Betty
Thanks everyone for welcoming me....
I didn't do too bad last night - but decided that I am now going to try drinking only 1 night a week and that night was Friday night. I find that wine really messes up all my dieting attempts - but I am weak and can't totally give it up. Today I am going to stick to the diet plan. I was surprised that even though I logged in alcohol the food meter still gave me an A- ....I thought alcohol would at least give you a D. Is it measuring staying under your calories only - or the analysis of the nutrition. Not sure what the grade is actually for>>>>does anyone know.
Thanks,
PS - I went to check on LASIK vision correction and have an appointment for the surgery...anyone here get that done?
Thanks all
Mary

Ehemmm..... no I haven't had it done... but I sure need to do something! LOL!! I tend to try and ignore it, but lately people sure have been honking their horns and I don't exactly think they're APPLAUDING my driving efforts... sigh ![]()
Good Morning everyone!
Sure got cold here overnight... brrrrrrrr!!!!!!! Well, I'm ready to start another week today. I went out yesterday and got all my Christmas shopping done and wrapped.. boy my back hurts! There's something about that bending over to wrap stuff, or do dishes or whatever that really gets my lower back (and I'm sure the extra pounds I'm carrying aren't helping at all).
Confession time. For some unknown reason, except for maybe the flesh cried out and I pacified it, I have been drinking Dr. Peppers again for the last 4-5 days. I have GOT TO STOP, y'all. Those things absolutely tear up my stomach, change my moods, start my heart PVCs back up, and sooooo sabotage my weightloss. Does anyone else deal with the cola thing?? It's almost like ever since they removed that Thyroid Cyst, my body is wanting to rebel... LOL!!! It's like "OK... THAT threat has been removed so let's see what we can come up with now.. oh, I know! Let's tear up her stomach again and pack on those pounds she's lost!" Jeepers!! Well, I'm going back to where I last did really well and that was with the 1200-1400 calories a day and take my B12+Lipotropics like a good girl. I'm at 173 right now so I haven't caused any damage so far, but sometimes it takes another day for my body to realize that I've indulged and should notify the scale LOL!!!!
Hugs to all!

Hi Sue, Welcome, I'm new also, I'm 51. I've never tried anything like this in a diet before. I'm still learning how to do things around here. I think it may be good having others trying to accomplish the same thing. I'm willing to be supportive. My BMI is 32. They say I need to lose 72 pounds. But truthfully I'll be tickled pink to lose 30.
Welcome to the group! I'm Rochelle. I just now figured out how to do my journaling so I can have it private. I did have a spreadsheet that I kept on my desktop, but I guess I deleted something important that kept it running right when I was "cleaning files".... I'm really good at doing that LOL!!
Good Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. Well another week is here and only two weeks till Christmas. We had rain/ice last night, would rather have snow so it looked a bit more like Christmas.
All the parties are starting with all that good food. What are some of the dishes you make for the holidays? Maybe we can help eachother make healthy tastey dishes. Anyone up for shareing recipes? Well have a good day everyone. Betty
Oh Blech!!
My body definitely was not happy with the colas and binging I've done this past week and a half! I had done so good and got rid of all the junk and was eating really well... then went through the cleanse of all cleanses when they prepared me for my Colonoscopy and other tests... then I guess after the words "we got everything and there's no cancer" came out of the doctor's mouth, my body wanted to celebrate by eating fats and drinking colas and wanting all the bad stuff.
So I got back on my pills from Dr. Gates yesterday and man oh man did my body clean out! Good thing out of all this is I lost a pound LOL! Not exactly the way I wanted to, but at least the junk's out of there! Whew!! Today's a new day, so yippee!!!! I'm off to drink my water and fix some oatmeal.
Hugs to all and Happy Monday! Ro
So welcome to all newbies and my thinking is the more the merrier, just don't ask me to rememer everbodys name, you know, you turn 50 and there goes the memory, although somethime I think its selective. I will add the new people to my friends list and encourage you to do the same with me.
As far as the cola thing goes, I quit drinking any kind of pop about a month ago. I've been hearing that even diet pop and some fruit juices that are not 100% juice are not good for you but I didn't know why. Finally I researched and found that its the fructose in it and in many other things thats not good for you. I haven't drank anything like that for about a month. I'd like to hear all your ideas on that.
Also, today is a happy Monday for me. I thought I did terrible this weekend, and the scale said different. 2 lbs may not seem like a lot, but I haven't seen that side of 190 for longer than I can remember. I joined up in the Decemeber challenge, so I'm off to a good start and will correct the error of my ways starting today.
take care all and happy eating right!
Theresa

Theresa!!!!! Wooooooo Hooooooo!! If I had pom-poms I'd be waving them for you! I'm soooo close to going under 170 that I can taste it LOL!! Each pound is a victory for us and those that don't have to or want to lose weight will never understand... congrats!!! Ro

I agree. I have quite a lot of wine and beer honestly accounted for in my food logs and I get B's normally. Have you tried cutting your wine serving with Fresca - blackberry? That's zero calories & yet gives you the satifaction of having a drink in your hand and sipping from a wine glass.
Hi, I joined CC last week after a long dieting plateau. I figured if I logged in everything I ate, I'd start losing again. This group is an added bonus--I enjoy reading everyone's stories and we all need encouragement to get through the holidays without gaining, and even better, losing. I'd love to join the group. Do I just hit reply to reply to the whole group? I tagged this group, but where do I find the group tags? Thanks.

Mary, I feel the same way about the grade, there are days I eat all good stuff, no wine or anything and I don't get a good grade, then there are the days I have wine, hot chocolate and I get a better grade? anyone else know how this works, I stopped paying much attention to it because I don't understand it. Betty

My feelings on wine are that it is healty in moderation. I like having a glass or two with dinner and thats it. And its something I just started doing because my hubby and I were on vacation in Puna Cana, the Dominican Republic and the thing that I noticed most there was that you could pick out the European people by their size generally and I always saw them having a glass of wine with lunch. It is only my opinion and something that I have tried and seems to work for me. I only drink it one or two times per week and make it work with my calories. I AM NOT ENDORSING IT. Also, it was hard to drink just one glass but I eventually got used to it and it took about 3 weeks.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Theresa
