Reason: Moved to the Lounge forum since it's more appropriate (ongoing support thread). Thank you!
Good Morning Everyone, I hope you all had a great Easter Sunday. Ours was busy going from house to house but very nice. Seems when the kids get bigger you go to their house, and we went to my sister in laws for brunch as well. Very nice day and the weather was sunny and around 45-50 so no complaints here.
Cheryl I hope your daughter is feeling better now.
Della, I hear you about the plateau I can't get out of mine, but I guess I don't let it get to me since I am not gaining either.
Ro you are an inspiration to me you keep such good track of all you do!!!!!
I am feeling better, it was a tough couple weeks. So I am hoping to get back into the swing of things with exercise. My work is finally leveling off so I can have a little breather. I do need to get some things done before we leave on our trip, 19 days to go I can not wait, 2 weeks in paradise wooooo hoooooo.
I am planning on getting that DVD you all talk about the "walking away the pounds" it sound great and right up my alley, I need to do something new. Any suggestions on where I should get it? Can I just pick it up at the store we have a few places here like borders that would probable carry it.
Well have a wonderful day all. It is sunny here today plan to move around a lot. Hubby takes off Mondays now so our weekend is Sun/Mon we will go for a walk today. Have a great day. Betty
Good evening ladies!
I hope all of you had a lovely Easter. All the kids came home for the weekend; which was great. But then Sunday evening when they all left was horrible. Still I’m lucky to get to be with them all.
Diet sort of took a back seat what with them taking me out to celebrate my birthday early. Is it just my imaginations but seems like all I get here lately is gifts of food. One friend gave me ginger snaps, the kids took me to Rib Country on Saturday, and today another friend brought me my favorite breakfast casserole. Are they all trying to sabotage me or do I just notice it more now?
Have a great good night and talk to later.
Betty... I found that if I DO track, then I'm not apt to think "Aaaaaahhh.... I think I'm doing well on calories today, so this or that won't hurt things". I found also that when I lick the spoon off after making my son's PB & J Sandwich that I AM taking in some calories LOL!!!
Well, today I went shopping for new pants! I came to the sad conclusion that my favorite wind pants were NOT that attractive on me anymore LOL! You could have fit a small child in them along with me LOL! So, now I have a pair of pants... that actually sit right below my belly button.. woo hoo!!
Here are my stats for today....
Calorie Goal 1200-1450:
Today's Intake 1054 + B12/Lipotropics
Water Goal 64oz:
Today's 48oz
Exercise Goal 30 Minutes:
Today 30 Minutes (WATP Video)
Hello all
I've got a couple of minutes so I thought I'd check in. I'm doing ok on my calorie counting. I'm with you Revins on tracking. I find I do so much better when I actually write down everything that I take in. It makes me think more before I eat.
Jenny, hang in there. Just let everyone know you're really trying to watch what you eat. When they see you're serious about it they'll back off and start supporting you more. The Ladies here at work didn't know how to handle it when I started declining treats. Someone would either bring something into my office and leave it at my desk if I didn't come out or I'd hear, "just a little won't hurt you". Now they just tell me there's treats and leave it at that. Last week someone told me that I looked like I've lost weight. That really helped my motivation.
I've been sticking to my excersise plan and I've set Thursday's as my weigh in day so I'm hoping for another 1 lb loss this week. Wish me luck.
Have a great day! Becky
Hey ladies:
Just popping in to say hello. Things are as close to normal as they get for me. Still working out daily and counting calories.
Saturday I'll take my measurements along with my weigh in-we will see what the measuring tape says this month.
Take Care!
Della
Hi Everyone,
I thought I had better check in and let everyone know what is going on. My daughter's flu turned out to be a bad sinus infection and she got over it with antibiotics. However, over the weekend, she had one foot that started to swell a little, then all at once the swelling went up her leg. Long story short, she has been in the hospital since Sunday evening with a massive blood clot in her left leg. The clot goes from her groin to her knee. This is a grave situation. She has been under the care of a vascular surgeon, hemotalogist, OB and pulmanary specialist. They also got advice from Mayo since this is such an extreme case. Today she has started to improve and things are looking better. She isn't out of danger completely but is much better that she was. The baby has done great through out it all. There is alot that could have been done ordinarily but, being pregnant, they couldn't. I would love it if you would all pray for her and the baby. They are on all kinds of prayer chains here, but you can't pray too much.
I will check in again when I can, but I know when that will be. In the meantime, everyone take care. Cheryl
Cheryl: Please keep us posted as to your daughter, grandbaby and yourself. Know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Della
Cheryl, my prayers are with you, your daughter and your grandbaby.
Hello all,
Cheryl, my prayers are with you and your daughter. My Mom had a blot clot last year after having hip surgery it was as big as your daughters from her knee to her groin, she had a filter put in previous to the surgery, her leg was so swollen she could not lift it without help. She is doing really great now with great care and lots of prayers, I will keep you both in mine.
Take care Betty
Good Morning everyone,
Hope you all are doing good on this Friday, I weighed in today and lost 1/2 pound. I know it isn't much but with what I have been going through for the last three weeks I am happy... went to the doctor yesterday and she put me on some meds that will stop TTOM. I kept thinking it would be going away and then it wouldn't. But feeling much better getting some of my energy back as well. I will get some testing done to make sure it IS just the peremenopause that caused this. Since it has happened before I am sure it is that but good to make positive. Slowly getting some exercise in but not over doing it.
I bought a new DVD, I couldn't find walking away the pounds but there were others she had so I got walking at home (I think it is similar) it has mile one and mile two on it. It is great, I love it. Nice and short well mile one was and I felt so good when I was done, even did it in the afternoon. Plan to alternate that with the treadmill. Thanks to all of you who talked about it great DVD plan to get more of them.
I have been good with my water intake and eating well, went over yesterday but only by 200 cal, had hot chocolate and a pudding hmmmm. But other than that I have been logging in everything and doing well. 15 days from now I will be on a plane to Hawaii I can't wait, goal it to at least maintain where I am and get back my energy so I can walk all over and enjoy.
Have a wonderful day everyone. Betty
Good morning everyone.
Good news Betty. 1/2 pound is wonderful!!! I will post my weight and measurements on Sunday-I'm praying for negatives. LOL-only time in life I WANT negatives. .
I was at the doctor this week as well. Been suffering with terrible headaches and what feels like pressure at the base of my skull. Not sure what it is exactly. The doctor ordered blood tests and doesn't seem overly concerned. (my migraines may have changed locations). But other than that all my tests were great. Blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugars all perfectly normal. That is one of the "funny" things about me. Even though I rated in the obese range I've never suffered any of the side effects of obesity (at least not yet) thank the Lord.
OH, I have to add (hope it doesn't sound to much of a brag) yesterday while at the doctors office one of the nurses came up to me and remarked, "My God, you've up and lost some weight". Made my day. Anyway, I'll duck out now and will check in on everyone later today.
TGIF ladies!!!
Wonderful Friday everyone!
Betty, I'm glad you went in and got something to help you. I can only imagine how you're feeling. It can't be good! I hope you get to feeling great for your trip. That's sounds like a wonderful trip. And the 1/2 lb loss is great. A weight loss is a loss no matter what.
You've all talked so much about those walking DVD's I'm going to have to check them out. I've been sticking to my workouts. I really sleep good at night. I need to be more aware of what I'm eating. I didn't do too bad the last couple of days but I need to do better. I've dipped into my Granddaughter's Easter Candy. But I didn't eat alot. Normally I'd really have pigged out. It's progress.
Yesterday was my 26th anniversary so tonight we're going out to celebrate. Everyone have a great weekend. Becky
I hit my 3rd GOAL today!!!
Starting out at 189 pounds in September, 2007 I thought I'd never see the 150's... but today I stepped on the scale and I weighed 158.8 pounds!! So I lost another 1.20 pounds this week!!
I have now OFFICIALLY LOST OVER 30 POUNDS!!! I'm so excited!!!
After being taught how to also find my Body Fat% and figure my Lean Body Mass... I was able to put those things into play in January. Below is my "Progress Report" LOL!!
BMI, Weight, and Other Measurements:
9/29/07
Weight: 189 lbs.
% Body Fat: Unknown
Lean Body Mass: Unknown
Weight Goal: 145 (based on weight charts)
Waist Measurement: 41 (possibly more)
1/29/08
Weight: 164 lbs (have lost 25 so far)
% Body Fat: 34%
% Body Fat GOAL: 26.9%
Lean Body Mass: 108
Weight Goal: 148
Waist Measurement: 35" (a loss of a KNOWN 6")
2/29/08
Weight: 160 lbs (have lost 29 so far)
% Body Fat: 31.5% (a decrease of 2.5% total )
Lean Body Mass: 111 (3 pounds MORE that's NOT FAT!!)
Weight Goal: 152 lbs.
Waist Measurement: 33" (a loss of a KNOWN 8")
3/29/08
Weight: 158.8 lbs (have lost 30.2 so far)
% Body Fat: 30.1% ( a decrease of 3.9% total)
Lean Body Mass: 111
Weight Goal: 152 lbs.
Waist Measurement: 32" (a loss of a KNOWN 9")
I started implementing the tablet form of the B12 Lipotropics in my diet these past 2 weeks and that plateau of 161.4 pounds broke last week, so I know I'm on the right track!! I may, when I reach my goal, re-figure some things and see if I want to go for a bit leaner body mass. My goal right now puts me in the middle of the "ideal" range so I thought that would be a good start!
This is so awesome! God has been so incredibly good to me!!
Happy Weekend all,
We are still at the hospital with my daughter. She has stabilized and is in good spirits. She will probably be released in a day for two (or three). The doctors could not put the filter in to catch the clot because of her pregnancy, so we have been on pins and needles, but today they think that as long as she wears compression hose (you should see us putting those things on her), keeps her leg elevated and her activity low, she will be okay. She is going to have a "fat" leg the rest of her life but that is minor compared to the danger she has been in. The staff here at the hospital, from the highest doctor down to housekeeping, have been great. We are truly blessed.
When I finally get home and have an opportunity to weigh, no telling what the scales will say. I have only eaten sporadically and then the most unhealthy food. Spend most of my days sitting by her bed. I do get up and take an occasional walk and that makes me feel so much better. Sleeping in a recliner and my son-in-law has been sleeping on a loveseat. Don't know which one of us is in the worst shape. It has certainly been an adventure!
Thank you all so much for your concern and prayers. I really do appreciate it.
Cheryl
Hi Ladies,
Cheryl; I’ve been praying for you daughter and grandchild. Keep us updated. I’m glad to hear she is doing better.
At my office birthday party this week you would have been so proud of me. I had only a tiny piece of cake and about 4 sun chips. The ladies got me lotions and candles; but the best gift was a balance ball for me to use at home. To keep form taking the cake home to eat; I called all the other departments to come up and get a piece of birthday cake. No cake to take home means any temptation.
I have ordered a tape on balance ball for beginners; can’t wait for it to get here.
I may not have told you ladies but I have been keeping the office gym open after hours so the people at work could workout after their shifts. The response has been great. At the recent Department Head meeting it was announced by the Physical Therapist I’ve been working with. So many people came up to me this week encouraging me and wanting to know what days they could work out as well.
Have a great weekend.
Good Afternoon
Cheryl I'm glad to hear that your Daughter is doing better. I pray for her continued improvement. Keep us posted.
Ro, way to go! You really give me hope on my weight loss.
Jenny, way to go for you too. Every little bit helps and you'll find it getting easier as you go.
I weighed in Thursday and I'm down another 1.5 lbs. My husband has even made comments that it shows. What a guy!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Good Evening,
I am happy to report that my daughter got to come home from the hospital Saturday afternoon. We were apprehensive at first, but two different doctors assured us that it was safe as long as she follows all of their restrictions. She and her husband are glad to be home. I am still nervous but I do understand that she really doesn't need to be in the hospital. We have had a very close call and the months that lay ahead are going to be rough, but God saw and continues to see us through. I truly want to thank you all for thinking and praying for us. We certainly needed it!
I came home yesterday with the worst migraine I have ever had. It is a two hour drive and I'm sure I was not safe to be behind the wheel. In the beginning, I wasn't sure that I didn't have a virus coming on and that was the last thing they needed, so I headed home. A little over halfway home, my vision started blurring and I the light seems so intense even though it was cloudy, so I knew it was a migraine; the culmination of a week of incredible stress, no rest and sporadic meals of greasy food. It's all good now. I'm back to counting calories but not working out yet. I still feel drained.
Thanks again for your words of encouragement and comfort. Cheryl
Good Morning everyone,
Cheryl, I am glad your daughter is home she will do better there in her own home. It was very hard when my Mom came home same feelings. I will keep her in my prayers, when is she due?
Jenny what a great idea about sharing the cake and the gym, I have always thought a happy relaxed work place (one that cares about you) has the best employees and the happiest. Can they work out at lunch time? I could not do the ball not coordinated enough but loving the walk away the pounds DVD.
Way to go with the weight loss Becky. Becky and Della Isn't it nice when people notice?
Ro as always you are my inspiration.
I am almost on week four girls ughhhhhhhhhh.. but feeling much better, the doc called yesterday and said the blood tests came back good yeah. still have an ultrasound next week, and biopsy. I am half way through the pills so in 5 days hopefully I will be TOM free. I am hoping I will be back to normal before my trip in 11 days which means NO PERIOD at all. But I am just glad I got my energy back and can do my exercises, still not back to what I was but thats okay. I have been craving snacks more you know how that is, trying to eat more fruit at those times doing okay with that.
Well have a wonderful day everyone, Betty
Good morning Cheryl, Betty, Jenny, Becky and Ro
Cheryl, It's so good to hear the news about your daughter. Hopefully your headache is gone today and you'll be able to enjoy the day. Our prayers are still with you and yours. FYI-I ordered a ball along with a beginner tape and new weights. I'll keep you posted as to my progress-good or bad. LOL visualizes self attempting to balance . . LOL
Jenny, good idea about the gym-and having the extra support in place is awesome. I defintely see success in your future.
Becky, 1.5 lbs down! those negatives are so inspiring.
Betty, keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. GOod to hear your regaining some of your strength. When will you be leaving and if you don't mind me asking where are you going?
Ro, way to go girl!! Keep it up and before you know it you'll be in maintance.
Well ladies to update you as to my progess. I was up 4/10's of a pound this week. Nothing major and totally expected with the increase of calories. I took my measurements and that's where the difference showed. I was down a full inch on my bust and waist. An inch and a half on my hips, and both thighs. My upper arms were down by an inch and a half as well. All total 9.5 inches less of me in one month. So while the scale isn't reflecting much loss the tape measure is!
Also this weekend I tried on pants I've not been able to wear in 3 years. They fit perfect! And today I tried on a pair of pants I've NEVER been able to wear-too snug-guess who's wearing them now?? ![]()
Chat later. . Take care everyone!!
Good Morning Everyone,
Della, we are all going to Hawaii. My Husband, Me, our four kids and their significant others (One son does not have one) so there are nine of us. It is a dream vacation of mine and we decided we should go before they start having kids and can't go. We all go for 10 days then the kids go home and Hubby and I go to another island for another 6 days... We will go to Oahu (have two condos on Waikiki beach), and then just the two of us go to Maui. I have been planning this for over a year, bought our tickets months ago, I can't wait ~ ten more days to go. Although Aloha air went bankrupt so we need to get new tickets for the inter island flight but no big deal, there are others and these are the cheap easy ones to replace.
All is good with me getting back in the swing of things with exercise not where I was but thats okay, energy is coming back. Hope you all have a good day
Betty
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
