Reason: Moved to the Lounge forum since it's more appropriate (ongoing support thread). Thank you!
Check out this link below. The place where the guy from Texas is
talking is the intersection to where you went up to our cabin. The
river was down from us a way, so his friends are stuck up where we had
our cabin... food is in short supply, also.

OMgosh... we just realized in that video that the
hispanic couple (he has a goatee and she has long black hair and a
black shirt) are the couple that stayed in the cabin behind us.. on
their honeymoon!!!
I can't believe God's protection! We were talking about going back
there in mid-September and yesterday I just felt so sick to my stomach
and telling Tim I didn't want to go back. Figured it was just me not
wanting to be locked up in the same house with "salad lady"... but
guess not!
Have been in touch with our friends in Ruidoso from whom we rented our cabin this past week. From what she knows, all of their cabins are not damaged from the horrible flood. At last count she had 100+ stranded campers/visitors staying at their office and the surrounding on-site cabins (her maximum occupancy is 28, so many are living out of their vehicles), two of which require diabetic injections. She said she's been cleaning out her freezer and feeding everyone. This week is booked solid, but no-one can get to the cabins since most of the bridges are destroyed so she's going to lose a lot of revenue. She said the National Guard is there and they are bringing in scissor bridges to help evacuate people. The river is going down, but more rain is expected since this is their monsoon season.
Went online yesterday and saw some of the cabins that were flooded, one of which we were planning on renting in September (it was with another company there in town). So we called our friend last night and booked her 3-bedroom one for September 8-10 in order to help her business out. Please keep the people in Ruidoso, NM in your prayers. Heard from some racetrack workers that the track is ruined and all the tack and gear for the riders is gone as well as the electrical equipment like the tote board and photo finish line. Being raised around a horse town, I was worried about the horses... but it looks like all the horses were out of their and back at their training stables and none were left overnight Saturday (thank goodness).
The reservation up there was also heavily flooded. It was kinda muddy when we visited it while we were there, so the additional rain made it a lot worse. Several stores and lodges/cabins on main street are also heavily damaged. Our friends' cabins are all in the upper canyon on higher ground and the river couldn't get to them, but some of the cabins are across the river and our friends can't get to THEM (but they don't look to be damaged). It's so sad.

Good Morning Ladies,
I haven't written in so long been busy and then my computer crashed on me ughhhhhh... I am still working on it reloading programs etc. I lost everything on my computer files, photos, most programs stayed but don't seem to be working right it is like they are "half" loaded and I am still trying to get my Internet loaded right. So between work and this I am busy...
Cheryl, How is your husband doing? My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Working on planning our annual labor day party at the end of the month and we are having an engagement party right before for my daughter and future son-in-law. All the people that would come to the engagement party will come to the labor day party so it made sense. We are doing a brunch for the engagement party at 11:00 then having the labor day party to start at 3:00 we usually have around 125 or more people it is fun we go to Mass to get awsome fireworks for nighttime and just have lots of fun.
Well it is a rainy day here in the northeast lots to do. Take care everyone. Betty
Hello everyone,
Sorry not to have written for so long, but too much is going on here right now. My husband does have an approximately 1.5 inch mass in his right kidney. Odds are that it is cancerous. He went for an ultrasound, bone scan, chest xray, ekg and blood work yesterday. All reports, except the blood work which will take several days to process, came back very good. There is no sign that this has spread. Surgery to remove the whole kidney will hopefully be next week. Our youngest and only single child is getting married on Sept. 20th and my husband says he will be there if he has to go in an ambulance.
On top of all the good test results we got yesterday, my oldest son got a teaching position at the school he has always wanted to at. Over the last year, he has applied for eight different teaching positions in area schools and been rejected every time. The school called him about this opening. We are so happy. Finally things are looking up for him.
Betty, sounds like you are preparing quite a wing-ding. It is going to be a busy, but very enjoyable day.
Ro, so sorry to hear about all the flooding. Mother Nature sure can pack a wallop when she wants to.
Della, enjoy your vacation!
Take care everyone. Cheryl
Hi Everyone,
Cheryl how is your husband doing? Ro how is the flooding better I hope?
Things here are the same still busy at work, and still trying to get my computer back to normal. Busy day hope you all are good and enjoying whats left of the summer.
Have a great day. Betty
Is in Oklahoma having a blast with the new Grandbaby !! Sorry Ladies JUST have to brag a little.
It is 8:30 and he is down for a nap-daughter and son in law are sleeping and I'm having a coffee. Getting in the shower in a few-but wanted to pop in and say a quick hello.
Betty: Sounds like you are incredibly busy.. but what fun.
Cheryl: I am so glad the cancer has not spread-will keep you and yours in our prayers.
I'm not counting calories while here-but watching what I eat and avoiding the Take Out craze.
Will post more once we're back home and have our own computer again.
Della
Hi Everyone,
Della, I am so happy to hear from you! Enjoy that grandbaby!
My husband is to have surgery on August 20th to remove his right kidney. Baring anything unforseen, the prognosis is excellent. He is certainly in a good frame of mind.
Have a great week everyone. Cheryl
Good Morning Ladies,
I think I finally have my computer back on track, OMG does it affect me when it is not working right.
Cheryl I am so glad that the prognosis is excellent for your husband I will keep him in my thoughts especially on the 20th. Hope all else is going well, how is your daughter doing?
Della so nice to hear from you. Glad you are enjoying your new grandbaby.
Things here have been hectc with work and planning my daughters party but a good hectic. Today is hubby's day off (only gets one these days) so we will enjoy the beautiful day and do some stuff outside we always seem to have a project going but we do love working outside together never seems like work.
Today we will be going to get posts for on top of the new wall my son built between the garage and house. It needs a fence across the top since it is high, I found a picture in a magazine with fence that has a skinny pergola on top, three boards wide mostly for looks and hubby is going to built that on top of the wall whoo hoo. I am very lucky he loves to do this stuff. Of course it will not get done till next year probable but we are putting the posts in the cement today and I wanted to see if he would built it since the post now have to be three times as high. This will give us a really nice look and some privacy to that back yard and well I can add some flowering vines on it ohhhh I can't wait... As I said always a project. I feel so lucky that we have our beautiful yard to work in and build new things or add more flowers.
Well ladies hope you are having a sunny weekend and enjoying. Talk to you all soon. Betty
Hi Everyone,
It's been awhile since I last checked in. We are all so busy and have so much going on. Hopefully, as the summer winds down, we will have more opportunities to communicate again.
My husband's surgery was last Wednesday. It was a success. The tumor in his right kidney was definitely cancerous, but completely contained. He is already up and about, doing a lot of walking and entertaining a lot of company. We are so blessed. Cheryl
Good Morning,
Cheryl, I am so glad everything went well with your husbands surgery and he is doing so good.
It is funny because I checked yesterday to see if anyone wrote, it doesn't always email me when someone does and I thought the same thing you did with summer coming to an end we will be more able to write again. We all seem so busy in the warm weather.
I have my party this Sunday and a record amount of people are rsvp'ing YES.. we will definitely have over 100 people and could be way more than that if the weather holds out. they say rain but hopefully they will be wrong. We do get a tent every year and this year got one with sides so if it rains we will be inside, not a problem. It rained one year and I think we had around 75 people that year still had lots of fun.
Have a great day ladies, talk to you soon. Betty
Hey, everyone!
Soooo sorry I haven't posted lately but in all actuality (1) been super busy with daughter's second foot surgery and son's braces that are fixing to go on his teeth, (2) homeschooling, and (3) no weight change to be excited about LOL!!
It was so discouraging to see my weight slowly creep up and then get stuck at 169!!! I was like "No way!!!!". I honestly wanted to hide and drink a beer and eat peanuts LOL!!! So when it finally didn't go up anymore and my Thyroid levels levelled off, I decided to go back to square one as far as the B12/Lipotropics shots, reducing my calories, upping my water and exercise. Well, it's working!! I've LOST 3.6 pounds this past week!!! I am so excited to see it moving in the OTHER direction again! I simply had hit a wall and the Thyroid needed to be shoved hard... and I guess the shots did it. So I'm a happy camper.
Hope all that are in our southern states are high and dry right now. You're in my prayers.... and I honestly mean that.
Ro
Good Morning Everyone,
Ro, glad to hear things are looking up again. I too have gained a bit this summer and I know I need to get back in the swing of working out. my knee is better now so walking is back in the picture. With the cooler weather coming I always start to work out more since I work less in the yard.
The party was a success this weekend. Beautiful day tons of people came. the engagement party was smaller around 30 or so people and then 90 or so at the afternoon labor day party less than we expected but thats okay there was a lot. Was lots of fun but soooooooo glad it is all over. It takes us days to prepare, and all day Monday to clean, still need to take the tent down and bring it back with the tables and chairs. I always get a little down since this party means the end of summer hmmmmmmm hopefully we will have a nice fall to extend the warm days.
Have a great day everyone, I will try to write more as well.
Betty
Hi everyone.
I'm back! Back in Newfoundland and back online. Have a brand new HP computer with extended warranty.
Holidays in Oklahoma was fantastic! Waaayy to short though.
Weight is sticking around the same level as always. But this will be my year to lose. I am determined to get back on track and with all your support and encouragement I know we can do it together.
Hope everyone has had a fantastic summer and I'm looking forward to reading your journals and catching up on everyone.
Ro: good to hear your back and things are going better for your kids.
Betty: Wow! What a party! I could not imaging having that many people to entertain. I'm really a small town mentality. Must have been alot of fun though!
Chat with everyone later.
Della
Happy Saturday Everyone,
I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. It is great to hear from you again.
Della, I am thrilled to have you back! Glad to hear that your vacation was so wonderful, but I would be amazed if you had said otherwise.
Betty, Good to hear that your parties were a success. I hadn't thought about it, but it is the end of summer. This year has flown by.
Ro, congrats on the 3.5 lb loss!
As for myself, I am still not counting calories and have held my weight within 168.5 and 171, the upper end being during TOM. I am eating mindfully and being very faithful to the WATP workouts. I log the miles I walk per week on a calendar and have been doing between 10 and 16 miles per week, which is why I can treat myself to a rich desert (my passion) 3 or 4 times a week and still get in my size 12s. This is great for now, but I still have more to loose. I can't thank you all enough for introducing me to WATP. It has turned everything around for me.
Have a great weekend, all. Cheryl
Good Sunday Morning Ladies.
Weighed in this morning and my weight is up 4 pounds-but I've been "ON" for a month now. So part or most of that could be water weight. I'll be glad when this old body straightens itself out again.
Cheryl: Sounds wonderful! 10-16 miles is awesome. I am shopping for more WATP dvd's for this winter and waiting for our Aerobics classes to start again this fall/winter.
Not much going on this way-waiting for the rain to begin (Hannah) we're looking at 20-30mm of rain by morning. So no outside work for me.
OH and guess who's going to be a Grandma again??? That's right-ME. My daughter is pregnant again. 4 weeks along - due May 13th. .
Take care everyone
Della
Good Morning everyone,
Wow Della a grandmother again, that is wonderful. I can not wait, my daughter tells me 5 years after they get married. Hopefully they will change their mind and it will be earlier. And my son who is 24 isn't even dating anyone right now so I don't think I can expect a grandchild from him anytime soon.
Congrats Cheryl for the weight loss that is great. 10 to 16 miles a week good for you that is fantastic. I haven't done my watp this summer since I try to walk outside, but I will be starting my "indoor" exercise routine again soon, actually looking forward to it.
Ro, congrats on your weight loss as well, you are an inspiration to me, all that you face and you keep on going strong, keep up the good work.
Things with me are the same, no weight change what so ever, I have been the same since "April" no less, but not any more either. I may have lost a couple yesterday, I asked my husband to trim my hair (he always does just straight across), well this time he took off a "LOT" I now have a short bob at my shoulders! Oh well I had just said to him I was getting tired of my same hairstyle and thought I might want a change, I guess he took it literally. hahaha...
Have a great day everyone, Betty
Good Monday Morning Everyone!!!
Well the rain held off until today. It's raining outside, dark and cold. Not a good day for outside-but a wonderful one for inside work. Unfortunatley, we're not anywhere near finished with all the outside chores.
Goals for this Fall:
- Build a Green House
- Extend on vegetable garden site
- Extend on flower beds
- Replace Tarps for housing our wood (we heat with wood and oil)
- Get back on track with WATP and Aerobic Classes
Betty: Congrats on maintaining! And the new Do!
Take care and have a Happy Monday everyone!
Della
I'm 49 and I'll be glad to be of whatever support I can, but I'm leaving next Tues to go on a cruise for a week!!
hello ladies happy Monday, welcome agjense have fun on your cruise check back when you return.
It is a beautiful day here "absolutely beautiful" Hope to be able to do something outside today after working.
I plan to start up indoor exercise this week and get back in the swing of things again. I have been well I can't say lazy but yes lazy this summer since I tend to work outside and walk outside I let the inside exercise go. I will start with Leslie this week at least three times is my goal.
Hope you all are doing good, have a great day. Betty
Good Morning Everyone!!
Okay, I need to get motivated again. I've been away from WATP since July and having a difficult time finding "the time" to start up again. I WANT TO-just haven't done it. Time to stop coddling myself and just 'GETTER DONE" LOL
Hope your all doing better than me! Write in! We need each other to stay motivated and moving ahead. . . at least I sure do!
Cheryl: how's your husband doing now? Your an inspiration to me. While I've slacked off on WATP's you've kept at and increased your work out! Woo Hoo girl!
Betty: Did you start WATP's like you stated? Any fall parties on the calendar?
Ro: How are you doing? Haven't heard from you in a while
Chat later ladies
