Hi Everyone,
I'm not a big fan of winter but I am looking forward to things slowing down a little. There are just not enough hours in the day and I'm starting to feel frazzled.
I had a scare, which turned out to be nothing (thank goodness). Mom and I went for our mammograms on 10/2. I got a letter telling me that something showed up in my right breast and needed additional testing. My appointment for the follow-up was this Wednesday and all is well. They couldn't find anything at all. The tech told me that, even though you are smashed flat as a flitter, sometimes there can be deep tissue creases. Apparently that is what this was. It was very scary, especially considering all that has happened in our family this year.
Betty, thank you for the heads-up on the new Leslie Sansone video. I have a stack of them because I get bored so easily if I do the same one too many times. I will check this one out.
I have another wedding cake this weekend. It is for my new daughter-in-laws' sister. I hope this is the last one for a good long while.
Della, I hope everything is going well with you.
Everyone have a great weekend. Cheryl
Hi Cheryl and Betty,
Sorry I've been missing in action-just read my journal and you'll understand. Plus a very very dear friend of mine just lost her battle with cancer.
Also I've been dealing with some issues with my 16 year old son. He has been diagnosised with ADHD Predominate Inative. The doctor is trying to find the right combo of meds for him and it's been a stressful month.
My weight is out of control I've gained 7 pounds since Monday. Kinda extreme-I think. I'm working out. Walking and lots and lots of work around the house. I KNOW I'VE NOT over eaten.
Anway, I so glad things turned out well with you exam Cheryl!
And Betty I ordered WATP Hips and Thighs hasn't arrive yet but I'll let y'all know what kind of work out it is when it arrives.

Della
Good Morning Della & Betty & everyone else,
Della, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's death and your son's diagnosis with ADHD. I had a feeling something was wrong or we would have heard from you sooner. I will keep you in my prayers.
I too have gained some weight; 4 lbs over the last 2 weeks. TOM accounts for only part of it, if indeed any at all. I have been faithful with my workouts which has helped me manage my stress. I thought I was being careful with food, but looking back on the past month and a half, I think I have slipped back into my old pattern of mindless eating as a coping mechanism. Funny how sneaky it can be. I went from "Food is only fuel, not medicine" back to "When life happens, throw food at it" in only a few short weeks. Stepping on the scales this morning was a wake-up call: Hello honey...you better fix this now. Oh well, realizing what the problem is, is the first step to fixing it. I am determined not to slip back into my old ways.
I hope you all have a great weekend. Cheryl
Hey everyone!
Thanks for your kind words and inspiration. Your what keeps me going!
I received my DVD WATP-was suppose to be Walk away your hips and thighs with workout band. In fact I accidentally ordered Walk Away Your Waistline with waist belt. It is a really fast 3 mile power walk. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the entire workout. I didn't find the band working the muscles too much though since I have been using 3 pound weights for the last year. But the stretch bands along with the strong power walk was amazing.
In all honesty Cheryl I'm sure age, food and water retention is to blame for the weight gain. I know my water intake has been way off the last 2 weeks and my food intake has also decreased. I stopped eating breakfast since August. When we were in Oklahoma for holidays I only ate 2 meals per day to ensure I did not put any weight on. When we returned I continued this really bad habit. I cut my calories way to much (while on holiday we ate out a lot and 2 meals were good) and my body is in turmoil. I am now eating breakfast again and trying to drink more water.
Okay, sorry didn't mean to write a book. I'll save that for my journal.
Betty: I'm also going to check out the video you recommended.

Good Morning Ladies,
Wow I was busy for a couple days and missed your posts I have it set up to email me when someone posts to this tread but it doesn't always do it? Della I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope they can figure out the meds for your son. I know it can take a while to get the right mix.
Cheryl good to hear your test turned out okay, I have mine in December.... always dread it, my Mom had breast cancer had a mastectomy and my aunt had it too. So it is always in the back of my mind when I go, been going every year for a long long time .
I too slipped back into the "NO BREAKFAST", coffee in the afternoon... So I have been trying very hard to get back into a routine esp. in the morning so I will eat breakfast. I have such a hard time in the afternoon when it starts to get cold I just love having coffee or hot chocolate. If I could only love tea as much "no calorie comparison". Since I have non-dairy creamer and I like my coffee light it is about 115 calories for each cup ughhhhhh... I did buy the international coffees (they are in that little can) and are about 50 calories but because they have some form of milk in them I can't drink them every afternoon. Getting old sucks sometimes.
I have been really good with the workouts, getting a few more tapes have proven to be a motivator. I haven't even gone on my treadmill I like the walk away the pounds soooooo much better I doubt I will use it again. But I do have to do the weights at least a couple days a week so good for our ageing bones. I bought weights for my ankles and wrist for when I do the DVD's at the beginning of summer and have only used them once, I need to start, I do like the band though since it helps a bit with some upper body... although I am not real coordinated so sometimes I am sure I look pretty funny trying to do both the band and the walking...
Well ladies have a good day today. Betty
Hi Girls,
I don't see how you both can go without breakfast. Once in a great while I will forget to eat because I am having an unusually hectic morning and by 10am I am shaking from head to toe. It's not always breakfast foods though. Sometimes I have left-overs from supper, peanut butter and crackers, stuff like that, but I have to have something. First thing in the mornings I have a General Foods International Coffee, Cafe Vienna. The rest of my coffee is straight up, no cream or sugar. In the evenings I make a pot of green tea with honey and lemon. I estimate it to be about 45 calories a 12 oz mug. Now that took some getting used to. I thought my first cup of green tea tasted like stewed grass... yuck. I have learned to like it now. Plus it is supposed to help with weight management, which is the reason I worked so hard to learn to like it.
Della, the Walk Away the Waistline is the first Leslie dvd I bought. You are right, it is a powerful workout. I was completely out of shape when I bought it and took me weeks just to get beyond the first mile. Last night I did 4 Fast Miles from her walk slim series. What a difference a few months can make! Betty, I haven't been on my treadmill since I started the WATP workouts either. One mile on the treadmill feels like it takes forever whereas one mile with Leslie is fast and fun and makes allot more sweat too.
Enjoy the rest of your week. Cheryl
It is so nice to have you ladies to talk to.
Thanks
Della
Good morning, well things are still busy for me with work but I am doing good with the workouts, doing the WATP 4/5 times per week. Haven't done any weights like I wanted to yet but I will in time "I think"...
My problem is when it gets cold I go back to coffee in the afternoon with a snack. Cheryl I applaud you for drinking green tea yuck I do not like it I tried but not a chance... I did have tea yesterday (raspberry) instead of coffee was very proud of myself for that. I never liked breakfast when I was young "sooooo many years ago" my Dad used to get up early to make me breakfast so I would eat still would just go through till lunch if I don't think about it. Just not something I have ever cared about... But I am doing good I am eating every morning I know it makes a world of difference with weight management and of course it is better for you to eat.
Well ladies got to go, taking Mom out today for our weekly outing. Have a great day Betty
Good Saturday Morning! Just wanted to pop in and tell everyone hi before I start my daily chores.
I'm happy to report I don't feel so bloated today. I've not weighed so unsure how much of the 12 pounds of water weight is gone. I just can tell on my body that it's going the same way it came on.
I too have tried the green tea-but I still prefer my coffee. I don't know if I would ever NOT prefer it.
Take Care
Della
Hi Ladies,
I had some excitement last Wednesday. My daughter called. Doctor thought he had found another blood clot, this time in her abdomen. I shut down everything here at my desk and drove 80 - 85 mph up the interstate to get to her. Turns out it is residual from the clot back in March. They did an ultrasound and a venial CT scan. Turns out the original clot started at her waist and went to her knee. Nearly all of it in her leg dissolved but the abdominal part is still there, however scarred over and no present danger except it is causing allot of swelling in her leg and pain. We do now have a diagnosis for all this: May-Thurner Syndrome. She will probably have a stint put in soon and be on blood thinners for the rest of her life.
Della, glad you are feeling better. The female body is a complicated thing. I read in your journal entry that you were looking at buying a 4 Mile WATP. I did the 4 Mile Express Walk last night. It is really good. She does a few different moves in it that I haven't seen in her other dvds.
Betty, I hope the real estate market is still going well for you. Around her I am seeing allot of for sale signs but they are selling slowly.
Have a great rest of the week. Cheryl
** edited** duplicate post
Happy Halloween everyone,
Well I have been VERY good with exercise and eating. Doing the WATP every day this week so far and averaging 5 days per week. I have done the one mile up to the three miles and have done a different one every day to change it up, I even bought a new one this week to have even more variety. It is a Leslie one of course, 5 day slim down. It has a mile a day targeting different areas you can do them separate or together and do however many miles you want. Not bad so far I did two of them. She is alone in this DVD so if you like having all the group there it is not for you.
Cheryl the market is starting to slow for me, I have a few listings that well are just sitting there. fortunately I have a couple closings coming up next week but I am afraid it will be a slow winter. I do not think the worse is over and I think it will take a couple years to get back on track. Oh well I will plug through it.
Sorry to hear about your daughter and what she is going through but glad it was not worse. Blood clots are a tricky thing and they kinda creap up on you. My Mothers clot was from her waist to her knee two years ago almost. She is MUCH better and at 85 living on her own. She will always be on blood thinners and will need to be cautious of her leg and keep it up often. Problem with her is she is VERY active and she does not like to just sit. I wish the best to your daughter she should not have to go through this at her age I will keep good thoughts for her.
Hubby and I are going to a costume party tonight at my brothers with friends we will be Gomez and Morticia. I can't wait I love to dress up for Halloween it is just fun and makes me feel young again. Other than I get tired around 10 and then my night is done hahaha...
Have a Happy Halloween everyone. Betty
okay I just did the slim your legs mile... GOOD WORKOUT... This is the "walk at home" 5 day slim down DVD. The only negative I can see right now is the warm up and cool down are separate so you have to go to menu and go to them separately before and after each workout unless you do all five miles together then they are attached. Check it out ladies...
Good Morning, I weighed in this morning up 2.5 lbs from last week. I feel like the Goodyear Blimp. Water retention is very frustrating. At least I think it is mostly water retention. I haven't over-indulged and have been faithful to my workouts.
Betty, I have the 5 Day Slim Down dvd too. It is a good workout, but I really miss the other people in the background. They add so much energy to the workout. Leslie seems much more subdued without them. This is a good workout but not nearly as much fun to do.
Della, I don't know what happened to your post !?! I would love to hear from you.
I am babysitting my grandson this evening while his parents go to a halloween party. Oh the burden! haha   ; &n bsp; Cheryl
HI Ladies,
Cheryl: Ahh lucky lady baby sitting your grandson. Oh how I wish my daughter lived close enough for me to baby sit. And don't worry the water will come off as quickly as it goes on. But I don't have to tell you that. That is something we've all struggled with.
As for my previous post well I had a situation at work that was infurating for me and I wasn't sure how to handle it. I spoke to my supervisor (who was the cause of the frustration) and our Regional Director. Well he just made light of the whole thing and in short nothing was done. Really ticked me off but it isn't something that (at the moment) requires me filing a grievance or a more formal complaint. Hopefully by my addressing it will help. Time will tell.
Betty and Cheryl: Thanks for the heads up on the other workouts. I am looking and (online) is so hard since I'm not sure what to buy. Having you ladies input helps alot.
I am happy to state my weight is back down to 201. It had increased all the way up to 212. I knew it was water weight but wow 11 pounds sure seemed excessive to me.
Can you believe it's November already? Seems like last week I was getting ready to plant my gardens and now it's time to bed them all down for the winter. Wow how time is flying. Don't forget to set your clocks tonight.
Hi Ladies,
I have been so busy with a closing that was suppose to happen two weeks ago it has just been problem after problem, hopefully it will happen today. It is getting harder and harder to do this job...
As for me, I have been working out 5 days per week. watching what I eat and hmmmmmm no weight loss at all in fact I gained a pound or two. VERY FRUSTRATING. I did not work out yesterday or the day before, I was a bit discouraged and busy. But I will work out today and plug on.
Congrats Della for the loss of those nasty pounds. Sorry to hear about the work issue, I hope it all works out for you. No I can not believe where the time has gone, soon it will be snowing. I mowed the lawn a couple days ago it will probable be the last time of the season.
Cheryl I agree with Della VERY LUCKY to be able to watch your grandson how fun and tiring I bet too. I agree that the new dvd is not the same without the whole group but I don't mind so much, and I now have 5 different dvd's so I switch them up so I don't get bored. There was another "5 day" one which did have the group I tried to find that one and couldn't. I bought her Pilate's one a while back I wanted to do that a couple times a week I hear it is very good for you, but I only did it twice, need to try again, it is a bit hard to hold the poses. I think my endurance is just not that good, I hear you doing 4/5 miles I can just barely get through the 3 mile, I guess I need to work on that more.
Well ladies have a wonderful day, off to workout and start my day.
Betty
Good Morning Ladies,
nothing new to say just checking in. Working out and eating right and still no loss, sometimes I wonder why I do this... but I will ...
Have a good day Betty
Good Saturday Afternoon,
You all probably think I had fallen into a black hole somewhere, it has been so long since I have made a post. It is not that there is nothing to report, but rather that I have been too busy to report. I am swamped at work and making posts there is totally out of the question. When I get home in the evenings I have to prepare supper, clean the kitchen then do my WATP workout. Afterwards there is usually no more than two hours till bedtime and that is the only time during the day my husband and I have to be together. I think I should spend as much of it with him as I can instead of sitting in another room on the computer. I never again want to be guilty of taking him for granted, especially after his kidney cancer scare earlier this year.
Betty, I remembered that you liked the new 5 Day Slim Down dvd, so I gave it another shot. I will have to agree with you that it is an excellent workout. After I got over the initial shock of Leslie by herself and more subdued, I concentrated on the movements and they were impressive. If you still want the other five mile workout, you can get it off Amazon. I also found a new website for workout videos: www.totalfitnessdvds.com.
Della, I hope things are going better for you at work. Workplace drama is definitely not my cup of tea. Who needs it. I also hope that your son is doing better. Do you know what the new grandchild will be yet?
Since my job got crazy, my weight is following suit. It is bouncing around like a ping-pong ball from one week to the next. There really is something to stress vs. weight.
Till next time, please take care. Cheryl
Hello ladies,
It seems like forever since I wrote. A lot has happened. One and a half weeks ago my husbands uncle passed away unexpectedly, so we went to Florida for the services, while we were there my husband's business was broken into. To say the least it was not a good weekend. We do not know who broke in and the police are really doing nothing. Even though we are a small town we have a state police station in our town, you would think it would help but it doesn't. very frustrating.
While we were there I was very careful of what I ate but unfortunately it this situation everything is around food and drink, so even though I ate lots of salads and fish. I had more wine than I ever would sooooooo I gained about 5 lbs. Doesn't seem like much but my pants are now tight and I forever feel bloated, I have only worked out once since last week ughhhhhhhh.
My husband is home sick today so I didn't do my planned workout. I don't know why it is but it is difficult to work out when people are around, is that just me or do either of you feel that way too? I will start my work outs tomorrow and keep up with them. Even if I do not loose anything I want to make sure I am exercising with the holidays coming up so I do not gain any more.
Hope all is well with you and you both have a nice Thanksgiving.
Betty
Hi girls,
Betty, I am so sorry to hear about the difficult things you and your husband have had to go through lately. A business that I used to work in was broken into twice and it is very frustrating. I am sure it was the same person that broke in both times and he was caught the second time around only because he had taken on a young accomplice who got nervous and spilled the beans to the police when they started questioning him. Otherwise, no telling when, if ever, he would have been caught.
I know exactly what you mean about working out with other people around. I used to tell myself that I didn't like to work out when others could see me because I looked like a big walrus floundering around and I felt embarrassed. That isn't the case now and I still won't do it. It is just something I prefer to do privately.
I am still insanely busy at work and getting more behind all the time. As my grandmother used to say "I'm starting to have a smothering spell". It is just a bit overwhelming sometimes. I have let my workouts slack off. I haven't reached my goal miles for past three week. I know that this is wrong because nothing is better for stress than a good strenuous workout. My weight has also gone into roller-coaster mode. Getting on the scales is always an adventure.
Della, I would love to hear from you. I hope everything is okay.
Cheryl
