Welcome back Betty,

You was certainly missed! How was Florida? I'm so glad you had a wonderful time and to sell a house while on vacation.  Well that is down right awesome. Whoo hoo for you!  I am willing to bet the 5 pounds is only water weight due to travel and the change in temps.  You'll have that off in no time at all.  Looking forward to hearing about your trip.  And I was wondering how your daughter and future son in law are doing?

Cheryl: how are you doing?  Haven't heard from you in a while. . .

And you too Carla? Where are you ladies hiding?? Hmmm . .

Not a lot to report on my end.  More of the same. Went for a walk last night and it was absolutely gorgeous outside.  The stars were shinning by the millions.  Not a draft of wind and the snow falling!  It was just like a movie set. What a blessing to have the ability to get out side and just walk! What a awesome feeling.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and tell each of you HI see how your doing and just to give you all a hug.

Hi Della, Cheryl and Carla,

Hope everyone is doing good.  Della how are you feeling?  I can relate to the walking it is so peaceful when it is a nice winter walk.  I do love a fresh snowfall.

Florida was great, we always have a wonderful time.  Lots of relaxing and nice weather.  I unfortunately found out when I returned that I have a tear in my left knee meniscal, Suffered a lot of pain while away, still walked though, had an MRI when I returned.  I will be going to a specialist and will find out what will happen.  My Doctor said he didn't think I would need surgery since it is a small tear and because of the location, lets hope not.  I will not be able to do any of Leslie's workouts for a while.  I am planing to do the Pilates one of hers I have, it will not put any pressure on my knee and I will be able to work out.  I was told I can do all the upper body I want...

Nothing has changed with my daugther and future son-in-law.  We only have four months till their wedding!  I hope that they find jobs by then.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.   Betty

Good Evening Ladies,

Betty & Della, it is always good to hear from you.  Della, you are a hearty soul.  I loved reading about your lovely winter walk in the stary night.  I admire your ability to enjoy your surrounding instead of focusing on the cold tempertures.  Betty, I am sorry to hear about your knee.  How did it happen, did you fall?  I hope all goes well.

I haven't alot to report on my end.  I lost a half pound last week.  I just didn't put forth the effort like I should.  Still it's a loss not a gain.  Life has been peaceful and pleasant.  We had a power outage that lasted about 2 hours last night.  My husband and our two dogs slept on the couch and I read a book using a booklight.  That is about as exciting as life has been and that suits me to a tee.

Have a wonderful week everyone.  I will be thinking about you.   Cheryl

Hi Ladies,

So good to hear from everyone again.  To chat and check in on each other's lives, catch up on what's happening and just to get and give encouragement is great.

Well, I've been WATP for 3 weeks now along with long walks outside and LOTS of snow shoveling/blowing.  I feel better and am slowly getting stronger. The last few day's I've completed the 3 mile walk with 3lb weights.  To quote Leslie, " It feels so good!" LOL  But it truly does feel good. I don't feel so out of control and miserable any longer.

Cheryl: a half pound is wonderful! Every ounce counts! But in the end the scale is just a number.  It's how you feel that counts. Right? I know you must feel so much stronger and healthier than you did this time last year.  You've been on an awesome journey and look how far you've come! I'm proud of you!

Betty:  Are you getting garden fever yet?  I sure am.  Was talking to my dad last night (in Oklahoma) and he'll be putting his vegetable garden in next week. Wow! We got at least another 2.5 months before we can even begin thinking of putting anything in the ground.  We'll start stuff in the green house (which will be great).
And it must be wonderful to sit in your house with the new windows and watch all the great outdoors.  Do you feed the birds?

Anyway, I'll chat with everyone later one.

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing well this weekend and will continue to do so in the week ahead.

I have only walked 2 miles this week because I have been having some bladder issues; not an infection.  I went to the doctor and had that checked out.  I have never received an official diagnosis, but it may be interstitial cystitis.  I have had trouble off and on for years.  Sometimes I do have an infection and sometimes they have no idea what is causing my pain.  Anyway, after my 2 miles on Monday evening, I had to go to bed, the pain was so intense, so I have avoided anymore exercise this week.  I thought the scales would reflect that this morning and, low and behold, I am down another lb.  I was completely mystified until I remembered that I donated a pint of blood a day and a half ago.  ha-ha.

It is always so nice to hear from you.  Take care.   Cheryl

Good Morning Ladies,

I am sitting here watching the snow fall, we are having a lot of it. Could be Blizzard conditions today "They Say"...

Yes Della I do feed the birds have a lot right now eating.  Since we opened up the wall between our LR and Kitchen this past fall and put in the wall of windows, I can sit in my chair and look out the front and out the back I have feeders in both areas it is wonderful.  I am getting VERY antsy to get outside and garden, yesterday I could see the grass NOT TODAY!  Soon, but with my daughters wedding in June I know I will be limited with time this spring.

I have one more week till I see the doctor about my knee, I haven't done any formal exercise in two weeks.  I am trying to keep busy with cleaning etc so I am not just sitting.  Weight is the same so I consider myself lucky.  I wanted to do some pilates but just not motivated. I was told I CAN NOT do any lower body exercises!

Cheryl, I hope you are feeling better.  Good for you with the weight loss.

Well have a good day everyone.  Betty

Hellooooo everyone!  I'm back!  Sometimes, I just get so caught up in life, I forget to sit down and visit!  I have not had any real losses - my weight has fluctuated because I kept forgetting to take my thyroid medicine - my TSH was a 12!  Yikes! (1-4 is normal)  Anyhow, I have started deep water aerobics with my aunts twice a week and still hook up with my sister at least once a week.  But I haven't really been watching my calories- time to start again!  The weather is finally starting to break.  Hoping for spring soon.  My yard and pastures are a mess!

My parents seem to be dealing with their alcohol troubles somewhat better than I thought.  I, too, have cut back dramatically on my drinking.  Rather than a few beers on the weekends, I drink diet pop or water.  Maybe a beer now and then.  Can't preach about drinking to them if I'm just as guilty.  The big difference however, is that I don't drink and drive.  I think they  have learned that lesson the hard way and, thankfully, no one was hurt.

It was so nice to catch up on the postings!  I hope the Dr visit goes well.

Here's to a new week!

Carla

Good Morning ladies,

Everyone must be busy these days.  Seems like you blink and a week is gone.  I go to the doctor this afternoon hoping for good news about my knee.  It has been feeling a LOT better lately, I have been very careful with it, it needs to get better before gardening season!

I have been doing these two pilates tapes I have and they are kicking my butt, well waist to be exact.  I did take a walk yesterday with hubby but a short one hey I have to WALK...  it was in the 60's this weekend wanted to enjoy.  Of course it is a mixture today of rain and snow suppose to get 1-2 inches today.  I was able to walk about the "WET" yard and look at the gardens and dream of what I want to do this year.

We have had a lot of rain this year real bad frost heaves all over the area (town as well).  So we will be putting in more drains in our yards that will be the focus for us.  Our less than one year old garage sunk on one corner and cracked the floor and a new stone wall did as well.  We have a lot of ground springs in our area and I think when we did all the work we opened up some new veins.  But I still dreamed of what FLOWERS I would be putting in my gardens.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and all is well.  Betty

Hello all,

Nothing to report here, which is why I have not checked in.

Hope everyone is doing well.   cheryl

Hello Ladies,

well I went to the doctor last week and it seems the tear is NOT small.  I started Physicial therapy today and I am now just sitting with my leg up since it hurts so much.

Good news, I can do my Leslie tapes so I have done them twice in the last week, continuing with the pilaties, only did that once last week.  I now have a bunch of stretching exercises to do twice a day for PT.  I will probable have to have surgery since this does not heal on it's own but we will see I go back to the ortho doctor in 5 weeks.

Good for you Carla for sticking to your exercise plan.  I plan to exercise in the morning hoping my knee feels up to it then.  I hope you are all doing good.  Have a great day

Betty

Hi Everyone,

Hope your days are bright and warming up quickly!  Not so here! We are in a DEEP FREEZE or so it feels like it.  Barely warming up to 20 degrees and still lots of snow around.

My weight is staying around the same-but I've been working out with Leslie and walking 3.74k on the days I need a rest.  Still watching my caloric intake and enjoying life.

Carla: good for you!  I'm glad your sticking with the exercises and mindful thinking.  They are so helpful.

Cheryl: Hey, how are you? How's your mom doing these days?   And you know just checking in to say HI is motivation.

Betty: Wow, I'm glad you can still work out with Leslie and I am praying for your knee heals without the need for surgery.

Take care everyone!

Della

Hi Everyone,

Question for you, I know I need to be more active BUT how can someone do 30 or even 60 minutes of exercise and burn 800 calories???  I just don't understand it.  Am I missing something or are people delusional about what they burn?  Because if they aren't I am doing something wrong!  And if they burn that much WHY do they need to be here or OMG what are they eatting to need to be here!

Other than that I am good the week with therapy went well and my knee feels good.  Don't know what I will do about surgery but for now I am not doing anything.  I figure if I don't need to take pain meds and I can do the things I want I will not have surgery.  Gardening time will tell a lot since I do a lot outside.  Another month or so and I will know.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Betty

Hi everyone!

Betty, I hope your knee holds out but I bet gardening will do you in.  My aunt suffered through knee surgery twice and ended up with a replacement - she is sooo much better.

Garden fever - ahh, I always forget to water them!  So I plant flowers, they look nice for a while, then the weeds take over and the flowers die of thirst! haha  But my intentions are always gooD1

Della, it won't be long and you'll be in the garden I can tell.  Do you do vegeatbles or flowers or both?

Cheryl - Hey, just letting us know how you're doing is great.  I myself have had no loss, no exercise, poor eating and I need motivation.  You guys help provide that just knowing I can check in and see that you are still at it too!

LAter!  Carla

Hi Everyone, I think this is so true and I thought it would bring a smile to you guys so hope you enjoy.  Betty

Dance Like Nobody Is Watching

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Alfred D Souza said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time ... and remember that time waits for no one...

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy...

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Thought for the day :
Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.

Well I am new and 47ish well heading on 49ish but whos counting.Cool

Hello Everyone! and welcome drgracedad.

Betty, Loved your post.  Oh how true!  Life is never perfect and we can spend our whole lives waiting for a fairy tale existence that's never going to happen.  I am thinking about you and your knee woes.  I'm very impressed that you continue to be active despite your injury.

Thank you all for inquiring about me while I was MIA.  I still have no great progress to report.  Keep loosing and regaining  the same 3 pounds.  I have been very busy and have used that as an excuse to slack off on the Leslie walks.  Lame reason, I know.  I am holding my grandson in my lap as I type, so needless to say, this is kind of interesting.

Have a great weekend everyone.   Cheryl

Hi Everyone, welcome drgracedad, don't worry I will be 50 in the fall hoping I can still stick around lol...

Glad to hear from you Cheryl.  I hear you about the weight.  I actually gained about 5 lbs and it isn't coming off.  But I figure with my knee I am limited in what I can do, the amount anyway so I do not let it bother me.   But that is getting better and I am able to do more used 2lbs weights at pt last week.  I am watching what I eat and doing what I can.

My knee is doing really really well and the PT is helping so much if I continue this way I will not need surgery at least not now.  The PT told me the recovery time could be up to 3 months!!!! With my daughter's wedding there is no way I am having it now and then "gardening" and in the fall we go to St. John for my birthday soooooooooo my goal is to not have it before October if at all.  The way I am feeling it could be the later.

Carla, I even did gardening the other day for a while (I was very careful) cleaned gardens around my house racked out all the leaves and got the dead stuff cleaned.  I feel wonderful YEAH...

Della, I am sorry you are not warming up yet.  We have had some nice days and my spring flowers are popping up, my crocuses are bloomed it is soooo nice and welcomed.

Well ladies have a wonderful week.  Talk soon. Betty

46 bout to be 47 here.  Tag, you're it!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing.  Sounds like we're all caught up in living Life! Just what we're suppose to be doing! Wonderful!

Carla: Hi ! How are you?  To answer your question I plant both vegetables and flowers.  Can't wait for spring/summer to arrive.  I've ordered my seeds and vegetable starts.  Planted 175 bulbs this past fall so waiting for the spring thaw to see how many will bloom. Also I've ordered heat lamps and bulbs for the green house to keep my okra and green peppers going during the cooler fall weather.

Betty: Good to hear your knee is improving.  My goodness the time is flying by so fast.  Before you know it wedding day will be here.  St. John?? Where??

Cheryl: Grandson on your knee how wonderful.  My daughter will deliver my grand daughter (via c-section) May the 5th.  **sigh**

Dgreen4209: 47 right now 48 this summer. . And welcome to our group.

Weight: NOTHING to post.  Still staying in the same.  I've had more blood work and an ultra sound done-something wrong-doctors  just not sure.  Not going to worry about it today.

Today the sun is shining and that is all that matters.

Have a good day everyone.

Della

Hi everyone,

You all are so passionate about your gardening.  Me...I do well to keep my houseplants alive.  I admire your ability.  We would never have another vegetable to eat if we had to depend on me to raise it.

Hello dgreen4209.  I am 50, will be 51 this May.

I think I have finally overcome my aversion to working out in the presence of other people; a throw-back from high school gym class, no doubt.  I usually spend my lunch hour either sitting in the car reading or meandering around WalMart.   Our local gym is running a "one week free" special and I decided to suck it up and give it a whirl.  It was uncomfortable for a few minutes, then I realized that lots of the people there are just like me; middle aged, overweight and trying to improve themselves.  I am even considering buying a year's membership.  It will be good for my body and my billfold.  Meandering around Wal Mart can get very expensive.

Have a good week.     Cheryl
