Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome gg9720, you will like this site, lots of support here.  Well we FINALLY have sun, we have had rain something like 26 days out of the last 30 ughhhh.

Della my gardens are doing okay more to weed because of the rain and I am delayed in getting the mulch down.  But because of the rain they are very lush. I have hosta that is soooooo big I can split them and make up to nine big plants out of them.  That is my goal for fall and spring to finish spliting them, I did a few this past month with all the rain they did great.  I have a lot they are my favoite plant.   I enjoy working in the garden so much it is my therapy!  So much so we were invited to a couple parties this weekend but I think we will just work around the yard, we both love it and it have been so long since we could.

Nothing new hear just hanging in there.  Weight the same no more no less.  Walking on the weekends with Hubby, we just finished our work out room (turned the old under the house garage into a workout room.  So hope to get back into working out and with gardening should get a lot more exercise in.  Knee is holding out good as long as I am mindful of it and wear my brace.  Talked to a few people who had the surgery and they ALL said they wished they didn't that they hurt more now hmmmm so I don't know what I will do come fall we will see.   Need to do more research on it and maybe over the winter.

Della, Cheryl how is Southbeach still good?  Are you still finding results?

Well enjoy whats left of your holiday weekend everyone.  Talk to you soon.

Morning all,

Welcome gg9720.  This is a wonderful site for gathering information and support.  Good luck.

Betty, Della, Julie & Carla hope everything is going well for you.  Betty, sounds like you are busy in your garden.  Bet Della is too.  You two have such green thumbs!  Julie, are you still enjoying the gym?

I haven't been at all consistent with the Southbeach food plan.  I really don't know why though.  It is easy and filling, just like Della said.  Just need to work up a little more backbone, I think.  The one thing I am consistent about is my exercise.  I am loving it.

Have a great week, everyone.    Cheryl

I'm 49ish for a few more days...   :(

Good luck with your continued weight loss!

Hi Everyone!

Betty: I must say I'm doing really good with south beach I've gotten below 200 and still going down.  I feel full after every meal and have had very little issues with craving snack foods.  I feel better and more energized than I have in a very long time.

Cheryl:  Yes, I am busy with the gardens and yard maintance.  We're going to build a shed this summer 10 x 20'.  That will give me lots and lots of excercise. LOL

Welcome Kent50021 and gg9720!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Della

Good morning all,

Everyone is very quiet on the forum - must be cos it's the summer and everyone is busy outside Laughing

I am very busy at work just now - because it is the summer time we have a lot of staff on holiday, leaving us short, so i'm doing a fair bit of overtime and cos I work night shift July has kind of disappeared for me !

I'm still managing to go to the gym, I just get up and go there before I head to work. Mind you I've managed to pull a muscle in my calf, didn't rest it properly and then made it worse so am going to give the CV stuff a miss for a week or so - do some weights and swimming instead.

Not much else to report other than the Scottish weather has returned to its norm - wet !  Yell (mind you it's still quite warm, by our standards - about 60 F)

Happy dieting,

Love Julie x

Hey Kent50021

Happy Birthday on Tuesday - that's my 27th wedding anniversary !!!

Julie McI Laughing

Thanks!  That should make it easy to remember my birthday! Smile

Good Morning,

Hi Everyone.  Welcome and happy birthday, Kent!

Julie, I think you are exactly right.  Everyone is busy.  My youngest son and his wife work at a hospital too and they are both getting a lot of overtime right now due to vacations.  That suits both of them just fine, since they recently bought a house.

I have not made an entry in my food journal for ages, so I am sure I consume more calories everyday than I am aware of, but I have been faithful about the gym.  I am incorporating the South Beach recommendations in with my daily eating, but haven't gone into it 100%.  I do like it.  I had my annual check-up this week and my doctor was very pleased that I have maintained my weight since last year.  Me too.

We live across the street from an elementary school and kids play in the school yard the time.  I enjoy watching them.  However, there is one boy in the group who is around 9 years old and weighs way over 200 lbs.  He is wearing XXL in men's clothing.  His mom works at a local restaurant.  We were having our lunch there the other day and this child came in to get a snack.  He walked out of the kitchen eating a tub of Pillsbury chocolate icing.  I worry about him and his whole family.  They live on grease and sugar but are the absolute nicest people.

Oh well, enough of that.  I hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer.  Take care.   Cheryl

Hi Everyone,

Welcome Kent and Happy Birthday...  I have been so busy lately, it has been nice to read how everyone is doing.  I guess you are right Julie it is a summer thing,

Me I have been maintaining my weight no higher no lower.  Congrats Della on your progress.  And Cheryl good for you with the gym, I can not say the same and we have one in the house.  We finished the workout room downstairs came out great, now we are having the bedroom wood floors refinished, the last one is being started today.  So needless to say my house is a mess because everything is everywhere but that's okay the end result will be great.

I have been trying to get things done around the house/yard since the wedding.  I ending up with Lyme disease just before the wedding and even though I am done with the antibiotiecs I beleive that it is not gone or I have it again! We have had tons of ticks this year.  I have been feeling really bad this week lots of pain.  I had it about 7 years ago and was sick all summer for over 3 months and I have read it never really goes away.  Soooo that has slowed me down with everything.  I am going to see the doctor today we will see.

The weather has been to say the least WET...  in June we had something like 28 days of rain, July has not been much better, we did have two days of sun woo hoo. But my gardens are very green and looking great other than we had a ton of slugs due to the rain.  But oh well what are you going to do.

Have a wonderful day everyone, I will try to log more regularly.  Betty

Happy Friday Everyone! How is everyone?

This thread has become soo quiet.  Is everyone hiding?

Betty: How the weather your way and how are your gardens? I know youv'e been in construction for a whie now.  Sounds like your house is really under going a make over.  It's  Been cold and wet here all week.  But the sun is out and looks like a good weekend.

Cheryl: Jayne: Good to hear from you.  Seems like you've been awfully busy these last few days.  I'm glad your enjoying the gym so much.  I know I would too if we had one in the area.  How's your grandson and daughter doing?  He must be getting awfully big now.  Is he walking already?

My weight continues to go down.  I'm at an all time low of 196.  I can't believe I've finally gotten below 200!   I really enjoy the SB way living.

Well hope everyone makes the most out of their day and weekend.  We'll be outside working on our shed.  We also have Monday off work for the Civic Holiday.  So construction mode on that day as well.  We have the foundation level and floor joists in place.  Working on the floor this weekend then we'll start the trusses. LOL. Don't I sound professional.  Funny for someone who has NO idea how to make a box. LOL

Anyway, take care everyone.  Chat with you all later.

Della

Yoo Hoo everyone - guess what - it is the middle of the night and I am at work, what a shock Laughing

It has gone quite quiet, but like I said it's cos we're all out and about trying to make the most of any decent summer weather. I have got 4 more shifts to work then am on annual leave for almost 3 weeks. We're going camping so I sincerely hope the rain stays away.

I have been very, very bad lately - not counting calories at all and eating all the crisps and cake on night shift but I have been going to the gym.

Started doing upper body weights stuff and I'm obviously using muscles I've never used in years as they HURT. Still I suppose that's an early sign that I'm working the right places, will keep persevering Smile

Hope everyone is well and happy with life, families, gardens, diets and anything else that's important

Julie x

Hey Julie,

Good to hear from you.  Where do you go camping too?  I love camping but we haven't gone since moving to Newfoundland.  Miss it lots.

Garden's are doing okay.  We've lost almost all our cabbage and brussel sprouts due to root maggots.  Irritating it is! But the green beans, potatoes, lettuce, corn, turnips and tomatoes are all doing awesome.

Haven't had much nice weather here either.  One day of sun followed by 4 days of cool temps and rain.

Good for you going to the gym and working with the weights that will off set the crisps and cake.

I'm changing up my diet a tad-getting tired of eggs every morning.  Yesterday and today we had a cup of fruit (no sugar) with yogurt and turkey bacon.  Pretty good too.  I didn't get hungry until close to supper time.  Which is a big plus.  Don't know how it will reflect on the scale-but all life is a gamble anyway.

Take care everyone.

Della

Hi everyone,

Catching on everyone's posts.  I enjoy them all so much.

A couple of weekends ago, I had my grandson from Friday night until Sunday evening.  All three of my kids and their spouses spent the weekend in Gaitlinburg, TN, hiking and shopping.  I had a wonderful time.  Spent the entire time spoiling him to his and my heart's content.  Might have taught him a few bad habits that he took home with him, or so his parents inform me.  But that's what are grandmothers for.  Life is golden!

I am still going to the gym faithfully:  cardio 3 days and weights 2 days.  I have given up on the treadmill.  It is strange, but I can walk 2 miles on the walk track and feel great.  Two miles on the treadmill and my hip joints and ankles ache for days, even to the point that I have trouble sleeping at night.  I have no idea why this is but now on cardio days I alternate between the elliptical, recumbent bike and walk track.  As for my diet.....

Continue enjoying your summer!      &n bsp;    Cheryl

mamafred,treadmills r 4 SNOWY shut in days...more like walking on a BOARD,lol.

hi,

48,cw178, month, lost 6 lbs, kept it off, big plus. it come off when YOU decide to cut cals.

Hi ontherun09,

I couldn't agree more on both counts.  I lost 25 lbs by exercising and keeping a food journal with a running calorie count.  I am dragging the journal out and starting to log every bite in again.  That is the only thing that works for me.  Congratulations on your success.    Cheryl

thank you Cheryl,

on bally.com. "6 wks change YOUR BODY"...of course, exercise is "MAIN" ingredient. guess you could use a man. lol

so before anyone of you decide to THROW IN THE TOWEL,see what exercise will do to benefit your diet, why pay fitness center,be your own coach.

Good Mornning everyone,  It is great to read your post.  I am sorry I haven't been posting for a while sooooooo busy with work and home.  RE is getting busy here which is great and I am working from early morning to eveing some days others just tired...sold three houses in the last 4 weeks so excited about that.

I am on my second round of antibiotics for the Lyme disease so not a lot of energy to speak of, but I am still getting stuff done just at a slower pace.  I am staying at the same weight no higher but no lower, but I am afraid I have not really worked out, well I have been busy with the garden and house stuff so I have "worked out" some what.  But I am bound and determined to start a routine again this week and to start counting again something I have stopped also.  So time will tell.

Glad you all are doing well and enjoying your summer as much as you can.  It has either been raining here or over 90 degrees, can't win.  Hope you all enjoy your weekend, we are suppose to get some of "Bill" maybe hope not had a ton of rain last night, watered my plants so that is enough! lol...

Bye everyone have a great day Betty

Good Morning everyone,

Hope you are enjoying what is left of summer!  I am getting ready for our annual labor day party.  We have it every year, there is anywhere from 75 to 100 people that attend, lots of fun.  This year we got a two piece band (well my son did).

Things are the same with me still at the same weight, eatting good and the knee hasn't changed doing good.  Took my last antibiotic yesterday hoping the Lyme disease is gone this time, feeling good.  Enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having, crisp mornings and warm but not hot or wet days.

Have a great day everyone.  Betty

Hi all,

I have been very remiss with my posts.  I've been very busy but nothing post worthy, just the usual.  I am maintaining my weight and activity.  I feel great and that is the main thing.

Betty, I am glad that you are feeling better after your bout of Lyme Disease.  Hopefully you have licked it this time.  I have never had it but hear it is rough.  Enjoy your labor day party.

Hope that you all enjoy your long weekend!    Cheryl

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well, it is so quiet here these days.  Well it seems that Fall is here!  Cooler nights but I must say we are having beautiful days.  The big party is over had a great time but glad to be done, so much work.  Had about 125 people this year, beautiful weather 75, light breeze and my son even got a 2 person band this year was a great party.

I have been away from structured exercise all summer.  I do so much walking and gardening in the summer I do not do my video's etc.  But have started back last week.  I must say it is great to be back to doing Leslie's walk away the pounds I do miss them when I don't do them but I also think it is good to take a break as long as you are remaining active.  I have lost 2 lbs in the last two weeks whoo hooo.  But I do not take it too seriously since going up and down is so normal.

I turn 50 in three weeks so I am reevalluated a lot.  I looked back over the last year and I have remained at the same weight for the last year or more.  so I am thinking this is a GOOD weight for me.  I am healthy, at a healthy weight, and my clothes fit good.  So with that said I am now going to work on toning and maintaining as I enter into my 50's and be proud of how I look and feel.  I think this is going to be an amazing decade.  Will you still let me stay in this forum it is afterall "forty somethings"...

Hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer.  Have a good day Betty
