Just looking for a diet partner that is around my age. Have 25 lbs to loose and hate it. Mid life junk I'm sure.

No Betty, I haven't heard from Garden Sue at all, and have been wondering the same thing my self.  Four pages of post and only her original questions stands.  Just don't know.

Trisha - Fantastic!!! keep up the good work.

That's a .5lb gain. Thanks everybody for being so supportive. Maybe next week I can post a loss, a double celebration.  Is there some trick for uploading a photo? I tried twice and was told there is a problem and to contact administration. That is not going to happen. Thanks. Trisha

Hi Trisha, The only two things I can think of is if your picture is too big it wont upload and it should be in jpeg.  Try making it smaller and see if that works.  good luck.

The snow has started here, looks pretty, sure glad I don't have to go anywhere.  Betty

Hi! I'm new to this place and I am in my forties! I would love to have some friends for support and friendship! I also would love to be encouraging others.
Thanks Webberb,  I saved them as 70kb and they uploaded like a charm.
Your welcome, great pictures, the garden makes me wish for summer while I look outside at the falling snow...

I think it's so funny that you ask if their are other 47-ish people and over 80 people have commented.. lol.... Good look with the diet....

i know i need it.. lol...

Good Morning everyone, well we managed to get through the storm without to much mishap, although my husband fell in the driveway, he is okay. Sooooooooo much snow fell over a foot at our house.  I have this very steep driveway still hasn't been sanded yet but got out okay.  Shoveled my car out for my exercise this morning it is more cal burning than the treadmill hahaha...

Have a lunch party today and an evening party so wish me luck I will try to behave, not worried about the lunch I can control what I order at the resturant but this evening will be harder, plan to eat before I go so I don't eat too many of those fried shrimp that are there every year but are they good.  Hope you all have a good day.  Betty

Well, the migraine finally went away... turns out it might be the hormone cream that I'm using, and am supposed to only do it every 3 days or so or once a week instead of every day.

Today was my daughter's turn for a bad medical day, poor thing.  It actually started yesterday when we found out she had a kidney infection and most likely has had it for a long time Frown.  We got her home and she has been soooo tired and running a low-grade temp.  She's on major antibiotics.  Well, during this time her tooth has been hurting her as well.  I went ahead and got her into the dentist today and turns out there's an abcess.. oy!!  Looks like the antibiotics that she's on should do the trick for her tooth as well if we're lucky.  After she's done with them, we're supposed to go back and he'll xray it again to see if its roots are damaged at all.  If they are.... then... root canal!  Oh Boy!!

Expecting snow tonight and temps in the teens the next few days overnight... brrr!!

Excellent news y'all!!!!

I'm at my halfway point on my initial weightloss goal!!!!!!!  I'm now at 170 so only 20 more to go until I hit it!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm soooooooooo excited!!!!  It's working!!

Hi everyone.   Hello tmcphee-my grandson is doing awesome.  I get to see him and my daughter on the webcam alot.  She sends me tons of pictures and what can I say...I am IN LOVE all over again!!

I did mention to my inlaws about my wanting to exercise and for a couple nights they came into the living room and chatted while I exercised.  Tonight they are watching a movie and want to see it first...wont go off before it's bed time.

I "use" to be an early bird for years (out of bed by 5:00).  However the last 2 years I have become quite the deadhead. Every morning it is harder to crawl out of bed by 7:00 -and I'm going to bed at a very decent hour.  I don't know why its so hard to get up.    But I guess that is going to be my only option if I want to continue losing weight.  Thanks for all your input in this small dilemma.

Is anyone going through perimenopause?

Been there, but I would wake up very early and couldn't fall back to sleep. That's better but when sleep settled, weight gain began. So now I have CC to work on that problem!

Great work Revins on the big loss. Trisha

Hi Nana!

Great to hear about that little guy, keep us up to date, I just love little ones, but they grow up so fast.  My youngest granddaughter is almost 2.

I'm through with  perimenopause and going thru the menopuase thing. What fun.  I had a hysterectmy 3 years ago, so hopfully this will be done soon. That will make me happy.  Why, do you have any questions I can help you with?

Well all, I have decided to start going to the gym as soon as I finish the afghan that I'm making for my mother in law for Christmas.  Its a grannysqaure and I only have 4 more rows to sew and I think I will be done by Tues or Wed next week.  Losing that little bit of weight (2lbs) has really motivated me to go.

We are snowed in here in MI too, about 6 inches.  Glad it happened on a Sunday.

Take care all.

Theresa

Hi Everyone, Well I did good at my parties Friday real good at the night one, had a big salad before I went and only had about six of those great fried shrimp and one glass of wine, very proud of myself.  However, went out shopping with my daughter-in-law yesterday "big mistake" toooooo many people spent more time in traffic than in the stores.  Went to TGIFridays and definately went over my cal intake ughhhhh but I am not letting it bother me today is a new day/week, and one time is not a big deal.

Nanamoss I am going through perimenopause, I too used to get up very early every morning 5-6 am and wide awake.  But now I sleep till 7-7:30 and move very slow. Only wake up early once or twice a month now, and I go to bed at 10 every night and fall right asleep so I know I get enough sleep.  I dont' know if it is related to perimenopause or not.

Theresa did you ever think of doing an exercise DVD?  It just seems to me that maybe you really don't want to go to the gym.  Quite honestly I do not like gyms and would not go even if someone paid for me.  Hey with all the options out there why should you if you don't want to.   I work out at home and have found that if I put it in my schedule and do it first thing every morning I am fine.  I also have short workouts for those crazy days and that way I feel like I am at least doing something, and it saves me travel time.  Just a thought.

Congrats Revins on your goal.  Keep up the good work.

Oh I wanted to let you all know I found a great food site.  It is www.foodnetwork.com  It has a "healty eatting" section in it and it gives you all kinds of recipes and the cal intake as well... thought you might like it.

Have a great day everyone. Betty

FYI... you have to be in the Low-Cal section to get the calories in the recipe...

Thanks, Trisha!  I'm pretty excited, as you can tell.  I've gone through so very much with my Thyroid problems and the cancer scare... that having the weight start to come off is like an early Christmas present.

Blessings, Chell

Hi Betty,

Yes I have thought about excerise videos. first 1 want to get some cardio in at least 3 time per week. I also already do 45 minutes of excercisining using an exercise ball where I do a full body work out. My trouble is that I live in a second story apartment and like to excercise early in the morning (when no one is watching he he) and to quote NanaMos, a 200 lb woman jumping up and down might not make my underneath neighbor too happy.

I've been member of this gym for 3 1/2 years and go sporatically. I was really gun ho when I first started, but because I didn't watch what I was eating, I didn't see any results. I just have to get the mindset to do it and I will. Like it or not.

I really appreciate your input though, and please keep it up. Its what makes this thing work so well. Everybody helping everbody.

Theresa
Hi Theresa, your welcome.  I wish you luck in getting in the routine again it IS hard to do.  I used to go for walks early in the morning with my sister and that helped because she would call me early and get me going, but too cold and dark now to do that.  But no matter what YOU have to be the one who wants to do it or it isn't going to happen.  My husband wants to loose weight and even though I exercise when he is home and do watch what I eat now he is not ready.  He is eating a lot better but not exercising.  It is such a big life change contrary to what people may think and it is not an easy one nor does it happen over night.  I will keep cheering you on though.  Have a great day.  Betty

Has anyone used the video "Walk Away the Pounds"?  I was just thinking about using it, but wanted some input.  Most of my exercise comes from my treadmill, so I was wondering if the video addressed it at all???

Thanks!  Chell

Hi All, well it is too icy to go out yet this morning so while on my treadmill I was thinking there are a lot of things out there we HAVE to do but if we do some of them differently we could burn more cals, and that would help us with the whole exercise thing so here is my take on things

  1. Go shopping just walking around you burn 120 cals per hour hmmmmm
  2. While you clean "Dance" did you know you burn 157 cals per hour slow dancing..235 fast dancing that could make cleaning more fun.  To just clean you burn 130 cal per hour and that is light cleaning do both together and you don't need the treadmill that day
  3. Stand up while you fold your clothes... doing laundry (must be standing) you burn 104 cal per hour.  If you are putting them away you burn 120...
  4. Did you know you burn 104 cals in one hour preparing dinner, and cooking, that hard recipe you always wanted to try but didn't want to put the time into it sounds a lot better than those situps huh.
  5. Time to change that room around... 314 cal per hour moving furniture, no wonder those furniture guys always look so good.
  6. And dreaded grocery shopping 120 cal per hour and 130 cal just to put away the food.
  7. 130 cals to play with children, no wonder my grandson makes me so tired.
  8. Watering plants 130 cal per hour.
  9. Vacuuming 183 calories per hour WOW.
  10. AND FINALLY, if you spend some time on yourself getting ready in the morning not only will you feel better but you will burn 130 cals per hour just doing your hair... and aren't you worth it.

Just thought we all need to remember to do things for ourselves, we did when we were younger, remember how long it took to get ready in the morning and how much you went shopping... and dancing.  Burning calories doesn't always have to be a chore it can be fun too....
