Reason: Moved to the Lounge forum since it's more appropriate (ongoing support thread). Thank you!
Hi everyone,
Betty, happy upcoming birthday! I, personally, don't see a thing wrong with turning 50 (especially since I'm 51). Just another chapter in our lives. Congratulations on the weight loss.
I am back to journaling all my food because the pounds are creeping back on and I don't want things to get out of hand. This time, I went to Barnes & Noble and bought an actual food journal. It is so much easier to keep up with than just using a regular notebook. I have tried everything imaginable over the years and a food diary works the best for me. Nothing like a little accountability to do the trick.
Enjoy your week. Cheryl
Good Morning everyone,
Thank you Cheryl for the birthday wishes. I really do not mind at all turning 50 in fact I think it will be my best decade yet!
Well since I decided to accept my healthily weight and not worry about those last lbs, I am loosing weight???? The only thing I have changed is I now do my sit ups different? I was reading that anything that twist your torso is really good for exercise since it addresses more muscles. So I am doing sit ups where I touch my elbow to my opposite knee and ladies I have already lost 4 lbs in the last two weeks. Now mind you I have not changed my weight really all year! This is the only thing I have changed because since my last entry I haven't done any video's been too busy with work! Who knows but I am up to 100 sit ups a day and I am going to keep it up.
We leave tomorrow for Saint John! We are going with two other couples, our best friends and staying in a villa at the Westin. I can not wait I have never been, what a great way to celebrate my 50th... one of our friends it is his 53rd birthday while we are there as well. Should be lots of fun. I will write when I return hope all is well with everyone very quiet here these days.
Have a good day Betty
Hi everyone,
Haven't we turned into a quiet bunch! I hope that the reason none of us are making posts means "no news is good news" and everyone is busy.
For myself, I checked back on my weight log and realized that I am averaging 4 lbs more now than I did 5 months ago. I am keeping a food & exercise journal but not being very strict on myself as far as calories go. I have been faithful with the gym workouts and do feel really good as a result. Just need to buckle down on the calories, which I will do. I have no intention of going back to the way I was almost 2 years ago.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful fall and life is on track. Cheryl
Hi ladies,
First I want to apologize for not writing in such a long time. I know your all friends who care about me and I just want you to know how much I appreciate that. I do not know when I might write again as I'm struggling right now.
My dad passed away last month. I wont go into full details but suffice it to say it was all due 100% to medical neglect. And I hope and pray no other family has to endure what he and us have had to endure because of a hospital and it's staff is so uncaring.
My mind can't function right now. I am so depressed and I miss my dad so much. I just want him back and that isn't possible. I don't want to be a person who whines or complains. I am strong and I will over come. But I do not want to come here and try to put on a smiley face and pretend things are okay with me when they aren't. I'm not sure when or if I will come back to the forum again. Maybe sometime in the future. But I just can't do it right now.
Della
Hello Everyone,
Della, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, I understand having lost my Dad a few years ago. My thoughts are with you.
Betty
Hello All,
Della, my dad died in February of 2005 so I also understand your sadness. I will keep you in my prayers. Please try to take comfort in knowing that you are cared about.
Cheryl
Hi everyone,
It will soon be a month since any of us have posted to this forum. I hope everything is going well for you, Betty. Della, I do hope that you are coping with the grief of loosing your father. My heat goes out to you.
On a weight/health note, I decided to take advantage of the free service offered by my health insurance plan and sign on with a healthy lifestyle coach. Over the course of the last 6 - 8 months I had gain back 9 of the initial 25 pounds that I had lost and then my weight had stalled out, even though I was trying to drop the pounds. What worked for me last time did not work this time. My coach suggested that I set up an account at livestrong.com (you can pay for full services or just track weight/calories/workouts free). In less than a month, I have lost 7 of the 9 pounds that I had gained back. Turns out I wasn't eating enough and had slowed down my metabolism. I was shooting myself in the foot and should have known better. Livestrong is very similar to this site. The forums are not as good as they are here but the calorie-workout calculations are much easier for me to follow. I am going to take advantage of both sites. Combined, they are great!
Take care everyone. I haven't forgotten you. Cheryl
Good Morning everyone. That sounds great Cheryl, congrats to you on the weight loss. I will have to check out this web site. It does seem that we have to keep changing things up to well fool our body.
Things have been busy for me in the last month. We went away for my 50th to St. John with two other couples it was wonderful had a great time. Then my husband had neck surgery(had to have plates removed and then replaced) the operation went very well and he is recouperating well, and my father in law (who has cancer) is not doing well and I am afraid will not be with us past this weekend. So it has been a busy and emotional month that I am afraid will continue through the holidays.
If I do not write I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and hope you are able to spend the time with your familys. Take care Betty
