New mother, Dr. prescribed Phentermine for weight loss. Is anyone familiar with the weight loss drug?
It also makes you so constipated you could scream. If you are constipated after a while, then the drug is not working.
I was told to get off it a while and then restart if I wanted to, so I have a full bottle smiling at me right now as I type this :) May come in handy at some point down the road, but I am trying to do this the old fashioned and proven way of eating less and exercise. So far so good I think :)
I agree with the others, if you are breast feeding DO NOT take this drug. Although I would hope a doctor would be smart enough already not to give it to you if you are.

. PhentrameneTM
(Appetite Suppressant - Oral)
Uses:
PhentrameneTM is used as an appetite suppressant. It is used in conjunction with an overall diet plan to reduce weight.
How to take PhentrameneTM:
Take one or two PhentrameneTM capsules on an empty stomach approximately a half-hour before breakfast and again one or two a half-hour before lunch. Because this product could cause sleeplessness, avoid taking a dose late in the day.
Side Effects:
If you notice side effects, contact your doctor.
Precautions:
WARNING: Do not take PhentrameneTM if you are pregnant or breast feeding. PhentrameneTM should not be used by anyone under the age of 18. If you have a history of heart problems or high blood pressure, it is advisable to consult with your physician before taking PhentrameneTM. If you have any doubts as to possible contraindications concerning any of the ingredients or the formula as a whole, you should contact your physician.
Before Using:
Certain supplements or medications may interact with this product. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter product that you are taking. NOTES: Appetite suppressants are not a substitute for proper diet. For maximum effects, this must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program.
Storage:
Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Notes:
PhentrameneTM is not a substitute for proper diet. For maximum effects, this must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. Any attempts at losing weight should incorporate a program involving a sensible diet and engaging in some form of regular exercise. PhentrameneTM can not be expected to work by just taking the recommended dosage and eating all that you want. PhentrameneTM is not promoted as a “miracle pill”. Common sense should prevail when you hear claims of weight loss products that promise results without any effort whatsoever. Do not share PhentrameneTM with others.
Tips:
For maximum results, we recommend drinking 8 ounces of water - 6 times a day as water rehydrates the body which speeds up weight loss and flushes toxins from your system. Reduce your carbohydrate intake as carbs convert to sugar and into fat which stores in the body. PhentrameneTM is designed to give you that extra boost of will power and aid by making it easier to avoid snacking, promotes a feeling of well-being and natural energy and overall keeps you feeling full for longer lengths of time.
This may make me sound like a nutter, but the "Tips" are really the only thing you need from this drug.
Drinking water or broth acts as an appetite suppressant.
Drinking water flushes your sytem and keeps it running.
Don't eat refined carbs, or sugars. They metabolize quickly and make you hungrier.
Exercising increases your energy naturally.
There! Now you get all the benefits but don't have to take a drug which has side effects and advises you to do those things anyway!
If I'm not mistaken, Phentermine is the second drug (along with fenflouramine) that together made up the ever popular, now removed from the market miracle weight loss drug, Phen-fen! Together the two caused heart issues in people who were also taking an anti-depressant... and since so many people were lying to one doctor about taking an anti-depressant prescribed by another doctor and getting prescribed the phen-fen in addition to it and getting terribly sick or even dying, they took it off the market.
I took it for about three months before it was removed from the market and it worked great! I was angry they took it off the market, because I was not abusing it!! BUT, it is dangerous nevertheless!!! I agree with the other posters here... it is bascially legal speed. It suppresses your appetite but has some pretty serious possible side effects. I would say to be careful!!
My biggest concern would be how it would affect my wherewithal to take care of the new baby while I was on it. I wouldn't want to make some stupid mistake because of the drug's effect on me. It can make you pretty jittery. If you don't have that particular side effect, or any other scary one, go for it. Just remember that once you are off of it... the appetite comes right back!
I would NOT take this drug. I HAD a friend who took it and with all of her yo-yo dieting and this drug she is now very thin...she passed away last March. Please don't take this . It is speed and makes your heart weak.It makes your heart race and gives you high blood pressure. It makes you very irratiable. She would take this drug and lose weight and then gain it back plus more and then take the drug again and lose weight and gain it all back again plus. Think of your little one ...it isn't worth it . Just diet the old fashion way ...it took 10 months for the weight to be put on give it sometime to come off. Oh yeah CONGRATS on your baby!!!
After I stopped smoking (appetite has increased twice) and in order not to gain weight, I’ve begun to take different diet pills and supplements, but there were no results. I couldn’t find the drug that really would reduce hunger. One of the pharmacists advised me phentermine as one of the few drugs that do not harm the body and actually suppress hunger. Now, I’ve been taking phentermine pills for one month, one capsule between breakfast and lunch and the other in the afternoon, during the whole day I’m not hungry and full of energy. I am very pleased with the phentermine results and would recommend it to everybody who wants to balance the diet and reduce the amount of consumed food.
I took phentermine and it didn't work at all. Everyone is different, I guess, but I wish I hadn't wasted my money.
