New Motivation Way to stick to healthy eating!

Quote  |  Reply
Hey guys!

You know, you always hear that you shouldn't weigh yourself every day......BUT I found a new way that motivates me to stay on my diet and exercise program, and its BY weighing every day.

Here's what I've been doing for the past 2 weeks now, and it has worked.

I set myself a weekly goal weight. So, every Saturday is Dday. Instead of telling myself "I want to lose 5 pounds at the end of the month" ....I am someone who wants immediate results. A MONTH is a long time to go, BUT if I have weekly goal weight, I stick to my exercises better because I can think to myself "Only 2 more days until goal day, so you HAVE to jog today!" I weigh myself every morning to see if I am getting close to target or not. :)

Just thought I'd share - you guys might try it. Works for me!

That sounds alot like how I feel and do! I set two goals though, weekly goals and monthly goals. I go for 1 pound a week and 5 a month, anything over that is gravey..........mmmmmmm........gravey...

Also, I just NEED to weigh myself everyday. Even when it goes in the direction I don't want, it just motivates me more, because I KNOW I can do it, I just need to MAKE myself do it.

Wow, I just realized, I do have willpower, he has just been hiding for a very long time ;0)
I am also an everyday weigher and have found it to be encouraging than discouraging. I am participating in a "Biggest Loser" competition and we weigh in on Fridays. For 3 weeks I've been at the same weight. But because I weigh myself every day I have actually seen it go down past that and then come back up. Now for the competition it drives me nuts! But if I didn't weigh everyday I might just give up.
These food logs are really working for me. It's very close to 'making a list'. My family laffs at all my spreadsheets I've created. You name it, I got a spreadsheet for it!

I love the logs as it helps me keep track of what I've put in my mouth today...and believe it or not, I'm having a hard time making my daily calorie allotment.

I weigh myself every morning and night and have been keeping a log for the past two months.

It has helped me out enormously!  I am noticing patterns develop and so when I gain weight (every Weds- who knows why?) and lose alot of weight (every thurs) or when I maintain every 3rd week I know what to expect and not get myself crazy about it.

It has really worked to keep me on target and sane!
I have some fat monitor scales and weigh every week which really motivates as you can see if you lost fat even if your weight isnt down...does muscle weigh more than fat? I think I read that someplace?
I have been weighing myself everyday for the past 3 weeks and it helps me keep on track. I know my weight is going to go up and down so I've set a day that I mark as my mile marker day. And I made that be on a Saturday to help me not cheat on the weekend.

So far it's been working good.
