New and need help

Quote  |  Reply

Sorry so long but please read. Ok so yesterday I went with my bf to one of his job sites and I was just standing around and I was fine and all of a sudden I started feeling really dizzy and sick so I went outside and a few of the people followed me out and asked what was wrong and I said I felt like i was going to pass out so they took me into like this office and I did pass out, I was only out for a couple seconds then I woke up or whatever and threw up then they gave me water and applejuice and a fiber bar or something and somebody took my pulse annd said it was slow and I felt really shaky and hot and my skin was really clammy for a little while after that then i was pretty much ok. Just wondering if anybody has an idea what happened I'm not diabetic they asked me that, dont have high blood pressure, in fact I normally have low blood pressure. They think maybe i was low on sugar or something. I did eat lunch around like 2 and this happened at like 8 at night, I hadn't drank anything tho and not much the day before so maybe could that be why? thanks ahead of time for your help.

Sounds like your blood sugars had dropped too low.. Six hours without eating anything is a very long time.  Eating the fibre bar and the apple juice bumped up your blood-sugars so you felt OK again.  Try not to leave it too long between meals and carry a cereal bar or something to have as an emergency snack.

This happened to me recently, but just an hour after breakfast.  My BP dropped too low and I thought I was going to die. Dizzy, nauseated, shaky. GI Jane is probably right on with the blood sugar, but in case it happens again when you HAVE eaten, go to the doctor.

I had a friend who had something similar and it didn't go away.  Turned out she had an inner-ear issue and it required surgery!

I agree that 6 hours is a long while between meals, but it is very strange for you to have actually passed out because of this.  You should still go to the doctor for a check up and explain the situation.  If it's something more serious, it would benefit you to find out asap.
