How crazy is this...

My boyfriend just called me at work and told me that his dad was in line for the I-Phone this morning and he decided to SELL his spot in line for $200 bucks...

HE DID!!! and someone paid him.....

Had to share.. thought that was crazy..

What do you think??

Yes.  It's crazy.

I don't really understand all the hype.  If this is version 3 in less than a year, it's only going to be "cool" for like 4 months before another version comes out.  I have better ways to spend my money and time...

i just can not believe that anyone would wait in line to begin with... hey at least he made money lol..

I have an old nextel phone.. i could care less.. lol

I only wait in line for roller coasters.

After what Steve Jobs did with the price on the iPhone when they first came out, I'd wait a month or two before getting one...

Would I sell my spot in line? In a heartbeat.

Would I buy my spot in line? Not on your nelly.

We'll probably get mine today. We'll see.

I saw on the news that some people have been waiting in line since 9 pm last night! I think it's totally unnecessary.

Waiting for this version is so stupid.  There isn't going to be a supply problem, and even last time, they were available well throughout the day without waiting.

Stupid, stupid people.

Will I get one?  Well, I want one... but I'm waiting to see what ATT says abuot upgrading my plan at a price I will accept.  Currently we pay $55 a month after taxes for both of our phones (we're on a corporate discount).  I want to just layer on the data plan on top of that... but we'll see if they let me do that or not.

That is so stupid (of the guy who gave him $200), but your husband pretty much just got a free iPhone!  I bet he'll be able to waltz into the store in a few days and get one without any problems.

In the bay area, there have been people camping out all week.

So stupid.  But, sometimes I think geeks just like to do that kind of thing for the fun of it.  I mean, how often can you camp on the sidewalk, and have it be socially acceptable?

*pops head out of sidewalk tent*

are you saying it's NOT socially acceptable normally? uh oh....

I could easily live without a phone.  My hubby is always nagging me not to forget it at home, let alone keep it charged.

Update: apparently our provider (Rogers Wireless) won't let existing customers upgrade to an iPhone, they're only taking "new" activations. My husband is on hold to their customer service now. This is no surprise to me though, Rogers is a bunch of bollocks, their cheapest iPhone plan (until a huge public and media outcry) was 300kb/150 minutes for $60 a month.

i cancelled my cell in january, when i realized that i hadn't turned it on since my last road trip, in november.  i'll probably reconsider when i get out of school and back to work, but the idea that i'd be lining up for the privilege of spending the equivalent of three car payments on a phone that will be obsolete in a few weeks is laughable.

edit: okay, i looked it up and it's not that expensive.  but still.

Oh I'm not saying anything about it being socially unacceptable.. it was just funny that he waited in line and decided "hey i wonder if someone would pay me for this spot" and so he yelled out to the crowd (of like 300 people) "anyone want to buy my spot" and people were lol bidding on his spot.....

hahaha that has to be illegal... lol

i still find this soooo funny that he made money... free phone for him.. I'm going to start going out on Good Friday and selling my spot for stuff.. I'll make enough money to pay for all of my presents lol

people crack me up.

I actually saw on the new this morning that there is an organization of "professional" line waiters.  They wait, then spell their spot.  I forget the name, I'll have to so search.  :)

My husband got up at 5:00 am to get in line.  He was number 10 and got what he wanted.  The people who showed up after 7:00 am didn't get a phone and the store didn't open until 8:00.  Of course there has since been a major problem with activating them.  Apparently iTunes couldn't handle the load.  It is now 7 hours later and his phone still doesn't work.  But it will...

I went and got my new iPhone today at the AT&T store.  I waited about 1.5 hours, but it went fast because my friend joined me and we chatted.  The Apple store looked to have a line about twice as long.  This was at 2pm today.

I love my new phone. But yeah for 200 dollars I would have happily sold my place in line.

Mine arrives next week. It was just easier to change everything over the phone, so I could keep my number etc, etc. There were only 20 people in line at the main store at 7.55am, and my husband was 3rd in line at the little booth by his work.
