yeah that's why i put my disclaimer of not the best.
oh & i stopped looking at the god one, too much other stuff.
the god thread - it EVOLVES. haha
You realise that plenty of religious people believe in evolution, too, right? And that most reasonable people within both communities don't actually find religion and science to be mutually exclusive?
Evolution isn't a blow to intelligent design. In my book, it's more proof.

Yeah I know that. Just posting the article. Didn't attach my thoughts or beliefs with it, guess that should've been my other disclaimer. Just wondering why no one posted anything about this. I mean that god thread, after WG informed me, actually really didn't say anything about it. Not in any detail, I wanted some fresh thoughts. These long threads just get tiresome.
Which is something else I want take an opportunity to complain about...

I don't accept that 'athesists (sic) and scientificy peeps' indulge in such oneupmanship. Increasing human understanding happens every day and it should be very exciting for everyone equally. This particular discovery is just the next step on the progress bar from the days when Mary Anning (1799-1847) was picking up fossils on Lyme Regis beach. She was called some nasty names in her time for challenging the perceived wisdom and I'm sure, in common with most people of her era, she was also quite religious.
You can hear the 'yes, but...' simmering in the bible belt, even now.

The "intelligent design" that people object to is not the people who believe in God and also believe in evolution (and who may therefore believe that God had a role in guiding evolution). The objectionable "intelligent design" is the group of people who insist that there's proof (which there isn't) that evolution is impossible without God's guidance. When people try to pretend that their religious beliefs have been scientifically proven, that's a problem. It's a very different thing than believing in both science and God.
alright alright, that's not exactly what I was alluding to but it seems nothing is coming out right today on CC for me**long drawn out sigh**.
didn't mean 'all over it' as in getting to anyone. just thought there would be something on here about really. let me go and rephrase my original post, so this is less about me.
on another note, i think this is the first time i've ever been so reprimanded on CC...hmmm...i think i like getting spanked better as a reprimand.
even the kitties i was trying to pet ran away from me. **signing off for the night**
It's not you octo. The reprimands are flying today. People just seem to be in a sour mood. Plththth I say.

it looks like the brits BGS have a fair amount of research projects in the afar rift, i was looking it up when kbella provided the link in the god thread.

thanks for that link too.
i wonder if ADRI experienced the cyclical nature of the female temper? maybe she got chunked in the rift by another female of her species that she butt heads with all the time.
i wonder if all of us spending so much time together here at CC means we are all in sync with our menses. it sure seems that way.
no chunking each other in the rift today ladies. please.
