I think I hit a new record today with Bananas, I had 7 today! Mmm bananas.

P.S. don't make assumptions. Wink

I'm not making assumptions. I am just curious.  Does eating too many bananas affect one's digestive tract negatively, and does eating too many mess up the potassium balance or whatever with the body.  I don't eat bananas, but I have always figured that they as with most fruits are really healthy to eat.

Well the recommended amount of potassium is around 4,000mg a day, so with 7 bananas you get around 2,500mg. According to wiki (they have references) most people actually do not consume enough. Considering generally poor dietary choices that people make here in U.S. I tend to agree.

Bananas are healthy to eat, that being said seven a day on regular bases won't make for a very balanced diet.

I would eat bananas from time to time if I could keep them in the "perfect" stage.  The "perfect" stage for me is that I don't want them even a tad bit green AND I don't want them soft.  They must be firm but ripe.  I occasionally have gotten them that way, but for the most part I don't have much luck doing it.  I really should eat more bananas, but at least I do eat melons, berries, and mainly apples for my fruits.  I wish I had easy access to papayas and mangoes.  I have only had them a couple of times and they blue me away.  The only other fruit that I have had (which I can seldom find) as good as papayas and mangoes is fresh pineapple.

hey pilgrim dude- i'm fussy with my bananas too. i like them a bit green, a bit yellow. so if one goes too yellow- i cut one in half, top it with fruits like chopped strawberries- 40ml of creme fraiche- sweetener- and maple syrup. its a great way of using up the banana and its tastes awesome. (i also add chocolate buttons sometimes into the mix, this too is amazing!!!)

Try freezing them in a ziplock bag, after pealing ofcourse, it changes the texture and firms them up.

i have one banana left .... now i know what i am going to do with it Cool

thanks UD   X

Maybe I will try bananas again.  My wife likes to buy chocolate wraps and put them around bananas and then freeze them.  I have never had a frozen chocolate banana, but maybe I will try one.

try taking two bananas, chopping it up, and sticking it in the freezer for awhile. Once it's firm enough, throw it in the food processor. Blend blend blend until there's no more chunks (you'll have to scrape at the sides, but don't add any water!)

Voila! Banana soft-serve! Your life will be changed after eating some. ;)

You ate 7 bananas?  Straight up?  Or did you eat them in/with other things? I'm finding this impressive.

I'd bring a magazine or two with you to the bathroom!

If you're a reader, I recommend Naipaul's "A House for Mr. Biswas" to you umney.  It's an interesting semi-fictional story of growing up East Indian in colonial Trinidad.  At one point in the story Biswas is punished by his religious teacher by having to eat bananas.  Too many bananas.  Biswas pins the rest of his life of indigestion on this incident.

The only food he enjoys after this is tinned salmon.  So be careful.
