New Year's Resolutions? (What are yours?)
I know that we have five weeks left before the end of the year, but sometimes I find it helpful (and motivating) to plan, write down, and start working toward my "New Years Resolutions" before January 1 .... that way I have a running start for the new year.
* Get my RDA of fiber eaten, EVERY day.
* Get my RDA of fruits and veggies eaten, EVERY day.
* Drink more water, EVERY day.
* Remember to take my vitamins and supplements, EVERY day.
* Get some exercise (whatever it is), EVERY day.
* Avoid junk food.
* Avoid fast food.
* Avoid fried foods.
* Avoid high-fat foods (unhealthy fats, that is!)
* Read labels before I buy/eat a product.
* Continue to log my food.
* Continue to count calories.
* Continue to lose weight.
* Continue to eat healthier.

Reason: 12/25/07: Stickied for a week. 1/2/07: Unstickied
I don't believe in new years resolutions.
There's no better day than tomorrow or even today to better/change onself.
No need for a new year to come around in my opinion.
However, sabineyvr I do go along with living one day at a time but I still wanna "plan it" if I can. I'm a planner. I like goals. I like writing them down and looking at them. I rarely do things spontaneously.
Molly, I like your checklist here. Then again we both married pilots and so we both know pilots are planned ppl and live by a checklist. Back up plans on top of it. Am I right or am I right.
Lets see, today is Nov. 26th and since i'm off track some and moving I plan to regroup on December 1st which only gives me a day to get it together after I move. Maybe to soon but I'm gonna try for Dec. 1st.
My water has slipped for one which is odd for me. There was a time I could out drink anyone here. You know me I have to throw a joke in there.
Ok well yes I want to write down goals for this new year. I love goals. I want plans, purposes and pursuits.
Thanks for sharing your list I hope others express some thoughts for the "check list"
love,
Forks

well last year my resolution was to lose 100lbs and change every aspect of my lifestyle when it came to food and exercise. I can successfully say I have almost accomplished this as I only have 4lbs to lose to reach 100lbs lost. This year will be to continue my new lifestyle and work on losing the last 26lbs to reach a healthy bmi.
How incredibly, wonderfully, amazingly, stupendously, fantastically AWESOME is that!?!?!? Woot! Woot! Woot!
YAY!

I think it's fun to plan as it leads to success.

You can do it!!! (Praying for your success!)

- Continue counting calories
- exercise 6 days a week
- eat my fruits & veggies
- drink all my water
- no cheat days @ all until goal weight reached (August 31)
Except I put exercise 5 days a week.
my new year's resolution has nothing to do with weight. well, maybe tangentially.
my new year's resolution is to stop being so covetous of other women's bodies, and in general stop being so critical of people i don't know. stop assuming that people's lives are great just cause they are thin, or thinner than me. also, stop wishing that i had bigger boobs or a smaller waist, and looking at women who have those things with envy. it's just the way we are born.
i'm trying to work on that now, but want to remember it as a resolution.
it all has to do with my body image issues, and if i can conquer those than that's half the battle in the weight loss/fitness conquest.
Mines are:
- Maintain the weight I am now
- Finish my French 4 course to get my DEC diploma
- After having my diploma, have a gym membership with a personnal trainer to tone up and be in better shape overall
- Donate blood for the first time
- Be a better person in general. My attitude can sucks sometimes and it can hurt peoples feelings
I'm with Sabine - I have never once met a New Year's Resolution (they were always to lose weight, even when I was 12) so I've given up on them. I can't really think in terms of goals for the year - that's too broad for me. Short-term and "someday" goals are about it.
For me, too much planning/goalmaking doesn't lead to success; it leads to disappointment.
However, I wish everyone luck in their goals - and encourage you to start now in your efforts, don't wait! :-)
* Keep logging my food
* Eat no junk or fried food
* Excercise more
* Eat more fruit and veggies (:
But also keep at my school stuff because it's an important year
Having said that I'd like to announce a new thread "a new gang" being started under motivation. "Going4Gold" in 2008.
Only thing required is to check in daily with your total calories and if you exercised or not. Also, a Once a week weigh in. Check it out if you dare to propel.
I always try to have three resolutions, one easy, one reasonable but harder, one impossible, that way at the very least my batting average is at least 333
1. Keep my kitchen 95% clean at all time
2. Get to bed early, get up early 95% of the time
3. Get Halle Berry to go to bed with me 95% of the time

So this is the impossible one, right?

For me, diet-related:
-Stop mindlessly eating food (in front of the TV, while reading, etc.)
-Take more time to prepare meals. Specifically, make use of the new cookbook my sister gave me today.
-Limit myself to one bag of crackers a week
-Lose the last 19 lbs. (or 14, if I decide I like 120 enough)
-Consistently exercise. Also: Get over the fear of the public gym.
I'm going to be working on these from today on - but they're something I'd love to be habitual by the end of next year.
To continue to be medication free. I used to have a pill popping problem and have not gone over normal dosage recommendations since October of last year.
To continue to be self-mutilation free. I last cut myself November 10th, 2006 and would prefer to keep things that way.
To get my long-desired Phlebotomy job even if I have to move out of state to get it.
To teach my nephew to say, "Bad Mommy", among other phrases that indicate he much prefers his aunt, Moly, and uncle, Alex.
To not be so damned irritable on here. Re-reading a few of my posts from the past few weeks disgust me. I think I let the misery of my current situation get the best of me.
And, finally, to not become a bridezilla as my wedding date approaches.
On the go andin the know.
