You need to do 2 things.   First, work out a realistic calorie intake.  Use the CC calculator and set your activity level somewhere between 'moderate' and  'very active'.  1500 doesn't sound like enough to me and it'll lead to you grazing at work to keep your energy up.  But if you eat more it has to be managed.   So next you need to plan your food ahead of time, work out the calories and be prepared.  Eat a good-sized meal before you start your shift and take a packed 'lunch' and some on-the-go snacks to eat when you have your breaks.  (And you're entitled to breaks in a 7 hour shift).  Have healthy food ready for when you get home .... maybe cook some meals in advance and freeze in portions?

thanks fot the reply gi-jane i never really had thought about planning food out but i think i might try that i had already changed my activity level to moderate but do you think i should  eat when i get home at 12 in the morning i thought it was bad to eat so late. get back to me on that. but i will try the planning. anyone else have advice to give me.

If you work shifts you have to re-jig your sleep and eating patterns accordingly.  If you're eating heavy meals late at night and then going straight to sleep it wouldn't harm your weight-loss but it wouldn't do your digestion many favours.  I'm assuming you get up and go to bed a lot later than you used to?  If you don't adjust your sleep/eating patterns you could also find the fatigue messes around with your insulin levels and leads you to crave sugary snacks and other 'quick fix' energy foods.  An occupational hazard for people wanting to lose weight but working unsociable hours.

Have the most substantial meal before you start work, perhaps.   That's when you need the most energy.  Take a moderate-size packed meal and then plan something fairly light for when you get home.

i also work at a resarant and i find that those days i tend to loose more weight then days i don't work, because u are walking around and moving the whole time. what i do is i make dinner b4 i leave and make sure it is one of my fav things to eat, so that the whole time i'm at work i'm thinking about what food i get to eat when i get home. also bring snacks to work and drink lots of water during ur shift so u don't feel as hungry.

I agree with gijane about planning out meals. I used to work at a restaurant and i would always make sure that I ate before my shift because I didn't want to rely on the food there. I think most of us don't realize how many calories are in restaurant food because we don't know exactly what goes into that food. 1500 calories a day seems perfect for your activity level. I would just steer clear of Bennigan's food!
