come up with a new salad dressing that is low in calories but great in
taste. I have tried all kinds but the ones I like best are about
100 calories per 2 tablespoons. The low cal dressings on the
market are just not good to me. I like the taste of ranch and you
know it is so very popular...can we come up with one that is just as
popular with all that taste? Anyone have any ideas?
Gabi
readnchick I have tried the light dressings and I just dont care for them...thank you for the suggestion. I rather eat something tasty that I really like than to settle on something that is not so hot tasting to me because it may cause a binge attack...giggles...thanks girls
This is for 2 cups of shredded lettuce, 1/2 diced tomato, 1/3 finely diced Onion (optional) and 1/2 diced medium cucumber.
2 tbsp Oil -Pure Canola or Olive Oil-
1 tbsp Water
dash (0.4g) sugar
pinch of salt -to taste-
Real Lemon Juice 1/2 tsp at the time -to taste-
I hope you can understand it, and try it. Let me know how you like it. I love it, since I can controll all the ingredients that go in the dressing. Sometimes, if I'm real brave, I even use it just to pour over sliced tomatoes.
Gabi
1 part extra virgin olive oil
1 part balsamic vinegar
1 pinch of rosemary
1 pinch of basil
1-2 fresh pressed garlic cloves
2-3 drops of hot sauce.
Shake and pour over any salad for a tangy, zippy, spicey taste.
I was a ranch fan for a long time, but now it just tastes salty to me.
i mix 1/2 c. rice vinegar, 1/2 c. water, and 1/2 c. olive oil, and add a few packs of splenda. if my calculations are correct its about 33cal/T. it is very light, and not too vinegarey.
Here we go, so first you use 1 small pot of natural low fat yogurt that you pour into a recipient (where you are going to keep your dressing) then you add 1 tea spoon of mustard and some salt and pepper. Ok, now with your empty pot of yogurt that you have cleaned you will fill it up oil (anykind), then you fill up the pot half way with vinegar. Last but not least, fill up the cup with water midium temperature. Once evrything is in the recepient all you have to do is mix it up.
I know the recipe sounds strange at first but once everything is properly mixed it taste's great and very light compared to a normal dressing salad. A good thing to add is a bit of garlic. Well thats the french way (grandmother way) of making a salad dressing. Now i do not know how many calories there is per table spoon but anyway in a serving of salad you should just need one tablespoon of sauce.
¾ cup 1% buttermilk
2 cups 2% cottage cheese
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
In a blender or food processor, combine the buttermilk, cottage cheese and salad dressing mix; cover and process for 20 seconds or until smooth. Pour into a small pitcher or bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Stir before serving with salad. Yield: 2-3/4 cups.

1 can Campbells tomato soup
1/2 can vinegar (I've used rice,basalmic , white, apple)
1/2 can splenda ( or more depending on your taste
salt -pepper ( can add garlic too)
put in blender............it's yummy!! The original recipe is at least 60 years old...and it calls for sugar and 1/2 can of oil...............If someone can figure the calories ...that would be great!!but it sure isn't much!!!!
Good on fish too!!....this recipe has a super long shelf life
this one's only 20 calories Tangy Orange Dressing
Not low calorie Classic Vinaigrette and Lemon Vinaigrette but they use healthy olive oil, so if you need to add a little fat to your daily percentage, it works.
this one uses the fat in avocado instead of oil Creamy Avocado Dressing
