New Sandwich Recipes!
If you are really trying hard to stay on a strict healthy diet, then you are probably eating mostly turkey, ham and tuna sandwiches with mustard and or lf mayo.
If you are a sandwich lover these are great sandwiches but.....well let's face it they get boring!
Anyone out there have any other lf sandwiches they like?
Peanut Butter and Jelly- If you cut the serving of lf peanut butter in half and only have a half sandwich you can still indulge in this occasionally (my fav comfort food)
Greek Wrap- One wrap, hummus, lettuce, chopped tomatoes and lf fetta cheese (cut cheese serving in half)

I like peanut butter too. I actually try to have 1 T a day (because a serving of nuts every day is good for you). Try the natural/no salt added kind. If you need to make it stretch more over the bread without eating more PB, you can mix the PB with a light margarine spread to make it more satisfying without adding too many more calories.
I like a whole wheat pita stuffed with hummus and shredded veggies. I had a fish wrap this week - a nice fillet of fish with crispy shredded lettuce and peppers, in a salsa flavored wrap - yummy and 360 calories. I like a veggie sub made at home - shredded veggies, thin sliced tomatoes, bean dip and hot sauce, on a whole wheat roll - about 300 calories, mostly from the roll. I can also do this on a soy, wheat and flax tortilla which is only 90 calories.
i had a sandwich tonight that i think will work it's way into my sandwich rotation... a fried egg (no oil, just a great non-stick griddle!), a slice of deli sliced ham, and a slice of low-fat cheese all stuffed into my no-fat low carb whole wheat pita!! so YUMMY!
i never liked sandwiches much until i went to italy and ate paninis... i make them all the time now... we have sandwiches/paninis at least twice a week!
oh, so for a panini, i buy small ciabattas, cut them in half, and before grilling them i put a slice of cheese, some turkey or ham, a handful of arugula, and carmelized onions inside! so delish! i do carmelize the onions in butter, but i think there must be an alternative if you can't have the butter...
