So I got the new scale...
And it's not pretty. I'm up 20#. 20 in 3 months. My old scale was off before it died so it could be less like 13 since it was between 5-7 off but that still doesn't help me feel great about this.
It still hasn't sunk in fully and I can't even put into words what I really feel. I knew I was up, got more hanging over the top of the jeans... but for some reason the fact that they're an 8 has had me fooled. I know this one isn't off, sadly. Had the kids weigh in at the grocery store scale and then again on the new one when it came out of the box... they were +/- half a pound to a pound so it's right. There was a 2# difference in my favor from last night with eating and all to this morning so that made me feel a little better but geez.... I feel awful.
Not going to binge on anything though. Needing to find a plan and quick so I can feel better about myself before vacation. I love my family but they'll say something and being around them is enough to make me want to binge as it is. I'm thankful the resort has a nice full sevice gym and pool and a lot to do that's very physical so I can keep up a plan while we're away... I just need to find one. I'm exhausted lately and with stress and less sleep then I really ought to be getting I've been skipping my run to sleep longer. I need to stop that but I literally got 15 hours of sleep the first 4 days last week =(
I know we all slip up.... just need to find a way back on the right track and fast.
Hey, don't worry. I went to college for two months and came back 10 pounds heavier. And when you go from 110 to 120, that 10 pounds is VERY noticeable. Came back and all my friends teased me endlessly about it.
Everyone slips up occasionally, it's okay. You're right, just figure out how to get back on the right track and you'll be fine. :)
I can empathize completely. I'm in the same general situation: need to take quick action, but having my fam know makes things awkward, and by the end of the day I'm wiped. The next day it happens again, and the vicious cycle just keeps repeating itself, especially when you/I are/am stressed, and not getting enough sleep! :/
BUT...my suggestion is to find someone who you're pretty close to (good gal pal, husband, etc.) who you trust completely and wants the best for you. Preferably, it's also someone who could stand to lose some weight as well, which helps eliminate the I-feel-fat-and-you're-not-which-just-makes-me -more-self-conscious type feelings which just demotivate you (and if you're an emotional eater like me--hey. that just makes it worse) The most important part is that they will hold you to a plan once you've made one, and that you would do the same for them. The buddy sysem is about as simple as it gets, but it works! ;)
As far as tips go, try to get into a routine. Routine=good. That way, when you're exhausted, you'll be doing what's good for you even if youu're on autopilot. The good news: once you get past the first 3 days it gets a lot easier to stick to. Just remember you need to do things in moderation: excercise specifically! If you lay on it too heavy at the begining, again, unless you're an extremely dedicated person, you'll just run out of gumption and excercise just starts to sound like too much work after a while.
So, to summarize my extremely long winded and confuddling rant: moderation=good, routine=very good, trustworthy diet/exercise buddy=excellent, getting past first 3 days=hardest part of diet, eating and excercising (aka being healty)=feeling good! yay!
It can be hard to get back on track after a long period of being off track. I had a major slip up last year. I had lost 55 pounds, then I went off the wagon for a full year and gained back 25. It can be difficult to get back in the swing of healthy habits. But the good news is that you can build those healthy habits back up just as easily as they slipped away. Get back on track for one week, and it gets much easier after that. Set yourself some goals, log your cals and exercise, and start builing those healthy habits back.
I got back on track 8 weeks ago, and I'm headed right back down to where I was before. I've lost 15 pounds so far, and still going. If I can do this after a whole year of slipping up, you can do it too!
