new to this site but not new to trying to lose weight :x
Hello, I somehow ran across this site and now I'm coming to it everday for motivation. I really suck at getting myself motivated on my own :s. I am 20 years old, 5'6 and 160 something pounds (theres no scale in our house but I can tell I gained back the 15 pounds I had lost near the end of last year :s). Im definitely not at my highest weight but Im not at my lowest either. My goal is to get to 130 for now, and if i feel i can do it maybe lower. My lowest weight has been 158, I was SOO CLOSE! Gahh, theres no explaining how much eating healthy and exercising frustrate me, but i still am attempting doing this again anyways.
I feel like I keep running into walls with this. I'll lose a few pounds, and then a few weeks or days later I end up screwing it all up by eating crap for breakfast lunch and dinner. Im addicted to food :o! Im sure it doesnt help that Im someone who likes to see results quick, and if I dont see anything I easily give up. Oh well, this time I'm not letting it get to me. Im just going to go for my run, or at least walk every night and hope I notice some changes soon.
I am just tired of being so conscious of the things that jiggle when I walk and trying to make sure im sucking in my stomach everywhere I go. I hate having to stare at the girls in front of me at the stores who are my age and have super tight athletic shapes that all the guys drool over.
So, Im hoping I can gain enough will power to beat this fat off me lol. Ive been exercising for the past week, 1 hour to an hour and a half of running and walking. Also I got my bf to skip all the fatty foods we buy and got him to agree to buying healthy foods (good thing hes a health nut, it made it easier to convince him). I havent noticed much physical change in my body but i have noticed that my levels of anxiety have dropped and i feel alot more energetic. Anyways, I wrote a novel so Im going to go off for my run in a bit here. I hope coming to this site can motivate me even more and I hope I am as successful as some of the people Ive seen on here :D.

Hi, welcome to the C-C site!
Everyone who loses weight has a different approach, a "bag of tricks" that works for them. Mine is, "IF YOU BITE IT, WRITE IT." In other words, any food that goes into your mouth goes onto the Food Log (fortunately, this website makes it fairly easy).
And the corollary to that is PORTION CONTROL. It's amazing how big our servings can be without our realizing it. So get yourself some measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a good food scale, and measure or weigh everything until you have a very good sense of how much a half cup of rice or a tablespoon of salad dressing or three ounces of beef really is.
I hope that helps. Good luck getting healthier!

I wrote a whole reply and then got an error page when I submitted it!!
I'm 22, 5'6" and started at 160-something too... no scale in our house either! I committed to losing this weight FOR GOOD in February. I've been trying to starve it off my whole life (you can guess how well that worked!) because I needed quick results too.
It really helped me to stay off the scale at first. I focused on making healthy eating and exercise a solid routine and just ignored all thoughts of "have I lost any weight? do I look different? is this working???" for the first 2 months. I probably would have been really discouraged to see the small changes at first even though it was the right amount of weight to be losing.
Good luck and welcome!!
