I am a 34, 5'8 and weigh 270 pounds!!  My doctor has told me that if I do not lose weight I am heading toward many health problems.  I started Weight Watchers and was doing well until job change by my husband no longer allowed me to attend the meetings.  My mother and sister and I have kinda started our own little weight loss group but I am still having trouble.  I stumbled on this site and am really paying attention to the calories I eat.  My sister and mom only need to lose 20 to 30 pounds.  I need to lose 100 pounds!! and would really like to have someone in the same boat to go through this with.

Welcome to CC!

We have a lot of members, many of whom I'm sure are in the same boat that you are.  I'd recommend searching the forums (The search box is at the top of each page, click on forums) for 100 and seeing if any threads pop up that look like they're of interest to you.  Additionally, you can search by height, current weight, and age and you'll frequently find people similar to yourself.

Hello!  I am 40, 5'6 and also weigh 270 ish pounds.  I have just signed on today after my husband came across this site.  I have previously lost quite a lot of weight (5 stone!) with WW but unfortunately put it all back again. I haven't tried for a while so this is yet another attempt - but this time it is going to work!!!I joined a health club last week and have committed myself to going at least 3 times a week.  So far I am enjoying it - I took an aqua aerobics session today and then followed it up with the steam room for some R&R.  I haven't really started on my diet properly yet (I'm waiting on a 'Diet Doctors' book at the moment) but I am trying to eat healthily.  I find that going to the gym makes me think more about what I am eating and 'pricks' my conscience when I start craving food.  It would be great to hear back from you and find out how you are getting on.
Hi I am 40 and need to lose 124 lbs.  I have always struggled with my wait and I hope this time I can lose it and keep it off.  I am 5'2 and 244 lbs. I was 115 in high school and I know I will never see those days again but I would like to feel good about myself again.

HI Tonkatoy74, I am 36 5"10 and just joined this site as well. I weighed in on Jan,03,2008  at 280 and I want to loose 110 pounds at worst. I have been told buy my Dr if I do not change things I will have plenty more health problems. I have recently developed planters facetious due to the over weight problems I have had for years. so now is my time to loose and try to get rid of the other health risks. So if I can be of any help please feel free to ask .....

Hi, Tonkatoy74!  I am 33 and 5'9".  I am brand spankin' new to this site as of three days ago.  I started out in September at 238.5 but have lost 27 pounds.  I joined a testimonial group at local company and have been using their treadmills and weights. We work out with a personal trainer three days a week then on our own three more days.  My sister is working with me also but she just started last week.  It's a long road but worth it!!  I found that looking at weight loss goals in 12 week increments makes it less discouraging.  I am shooting for 30 pounds by April.  30 pounds sounds better than the 64 I have left to loose!!  Lots of luck!

Thanks for all the support.  I really need it.  I am having a bad food week!!  My problem is food.  I have no will power and don't know how to fix that.  I love going to the gym but then I get discouraged because I turn around and eat all the wrong foods!! It is grocery shopping time and I am going to do my best to purchase the types of foods I need to be eating.  Wish me luck!!

I like the idea of looking at the smaller weight goals.  I did that with WW .  I hoped only for a minus each week.  I didn't really care how much just as long as it was a loss and lost 30 pounds.  However, I had to stop attending the meetings and have started putting the weight back on.  My mom, my sister and I are supposed to be weighing in and holding each other accountable for keeping food journals BUT we have not got it officially started yet and so I have slacked off!  I really want this to be the last year that I have to worry about losing weight.  I am committing to begin logging my food and activity again tomorrow.

Hi tonkatoy74.  I am 38 5'9 and as of now 232 lbs.  I started WW in Nov. just before Thanksgiving.  I know how important the meetings are, and since you can't go I would suggest keeping up with your points, but come here for all your support.  This is a great place.  I haven't been here in a while, but have decided to use this along with WW.  Also, it's great for figuring out recipes and finding out the points and the food log is fabulous.
