New start at the gym
So... I've done it.
Signing up at a new gym... my first day there will be friday.
How would you suggest easing into it?
I NEED to get active again... when I'm not active, I'm not accountable for my eating habits, and I feel like I'm carrying a giant marshmellow in my stomach.
I'm flabby/bloated and gross feeling... need to get MOTIVATED!
Well Good Job signing up, talking about signing up is alot easier till you actually do. If your just starting to come back from not doing much exercise then just take it easy for the 1st week untill your back in the groove of things... and good lluck!
try, i think, to go in with a definite plan so that you can stay focused and feel a sense of accomplishment when you are finished. hopefully that will help motivate you to keep going back. workout logs are really important, so maybe start keeping a fresh one along with your fresh start back at the gym. this way you can keep track of your progress (thereby increasing positive feelings toward your effort) and also set goals, since you know where you've been (thereby increasing motivation).
not sure what you like to do, but you could start with some work with the free weights (find some sort of plan to follow, even getting a book is a great idea so that it's laid out for you) and then do a little cardio at the end. personally, I'm a big proponent of weightlifting, so that's what I recommend over other things, but do what you like, especially as you're getting back into it (just don't stay in your comfort zone for too long!!).
congratulations on your new start. keep it up!
Yay! Good for you.
Make some sort of schedule for yourself - depending on what your priorities are.
I would recommend doing free weights at least 2x a week (make sure you do a light cardio warmup for about 10minutes before lifting), then whatever you want to do cardio wise you can do on other days or if you have the time, you can fit it in after strength training.
Make sure your strength session covers all muscle groups. Don't leave one out (like your back!) just because you think it doesn't need the work.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
