SO I officially hate my Birthday...

January 1st is a day that as a kid I loved...I never had school, Everything was closed and my mom always made my favorite food..Chicken Rice Soup with snowflake rolls.

The whole entire world (so I thought) celebrated my birthday and I felt special.. truly truly unique..

WELL NOW IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be 23 this year and I want to bury my head into my pillows and wake up two days later..

I thought going to the parade would be cool but Matt says it a hungover festival and I will hate it.. Well at least he experienced it.. i haven't and I kind of wanted to...

Also.. I can’t go to a bar and pay normal prices (cover and drinks are raised)

There are always way to many people its not about me (I know that sounds vain but I am being selfish)  its about new years which kind of sucks because when I go out to a bar for a friends birthday celebration its all about them..

I Can’t go out to dinner because you have to have reservations…..

Now I know my birthday is on new years day but  Most places are closed on my actual birthday so I have always tired to celebrate on the eve..

What can I do this year instead of feeling bad for myself..??Cry

I had to hear it from my dad my whole life that I wasn't a tax write off (in good fun but now i'm mad !!!!! lol).Yell.. I am sick of it .. why couldn't my mom just have me on the 2nd.. ugh..

I am not sorry for this rant.. we all have our moments..

Have a party at your place! I never go out on holidays, or heck even my birthday. I know someone else with a Jan 1 birthday, and we always just threw big ol parties with friends. Everyone is looking for something to do that day anyway. Tell them all to bring something, and the booze of course, get a bunch of goofy 2009 crowns and yours that says "Birthday Girl" and make it about YOU. It'll be fun. Make a mixed CD of old jams that remind you of good times, break out the drinks, MAKE A CAKE because all the ones at the store are new years related (your favorite frosting, favorite fillings). YOU YOU YOU :)

I'm sure lots of people hate the xmas birthday too.

So tell that boy of yours to plan it, and plan it good :)

I would just celebrate it on the weekend instead.

An acquantaince of mine is actually trying to move to a new apartment on the 1st...so, it could be worse. :D

think about the alternative to having a birthday and maybe that will improve your outlook

i agree with star - throw a party at your place with lots of booze and finger foods

then you will be even more the center of attention

(note: apples to apples is a fun party game)

Yeah, Just celebrate on the weekend before or after.

FIXED!  It's all about YOU!

I am not trying to be snobby if that is how ANYONE is percieving me..

MAybe I'm getting to old to care about my birthday. I am not a kid anymore I guess.Undecided

O well.

You read my mind.  I doubt that it really has that much to do with the whole New Year thing.  When you get older, it just stops being as fun.  I'm only 26 and I could care less about celebrating my birthday.  I stopped caring after my 21st I think.  It honestly drives me nuts when grown adults expect a big to-do about their birthdays...nobody cares.  I guess I would be a little sad if no one recognized my birthday at all, but a small gift and maybe a good dinner is enough to make me happy.

Like others have said, celebrate on a diferent day, that seems to be the only reasonable alternative. Plus you shouldn't be buying your own drinks on your B-day your friends should be taking care of you.

That's exactly what I think.  I swear some ppl think you should take the day off of work practically to celebrate and then get mad at you if you can't come!

I am fine with just a phone call really from my family.

I do not think people should take a day off of work for me to celebrate...I must have struck a cord with you tlstot.

I am just realizing that my birthday lands on a Shi*ty day.. it was cool when I was younger. Not so cool anymore..

That is all.

i like to send MY MOM a thank you card on my birthday

after all, she's the one that did all the work!

i was just along for the ride getting squished out of her

and btw, i don't remember being born at all, but i do have the marks to prove i was there  Smile

Celibrate it this year on the 2nd. The 2nd is a Friday night, so you won't have to get up and go to work the next day. All the prices will be back to normal.

If you think Jan 1st is bad, try my father's birthday, Dec 25th!!!  We try to make sure we make a bit of a fuss about the birthday along with the Christmas celebration, but it has been overlooked much of his life.

I agree with the others, celebrate on the nearest weekend day instead.  That is what most of us do anyway.  At least you never have to go to work on your birthday.
