Good luck, Nancy.  But I had to laugh when I saw your words "this is really my final go..." because I turned 70 at the start of the year and I'm working on weight loss again.  Not sure how the pounds creeped on but they're back.  Hang in there....Nonie

Hey Nancy, don't let age stop you. I turned 71 in March and am still walking twice a day and visiting the fitness center 6 days a week. All in all I am doing 3 hours of activity a day. I am also now maintaining a weight of 126 Lbs. I am adding you to the people I support and wishing you all the luck. RoseSmile

Welcome Nancy!Smile  your in the right place for lots of encouragement and support, this is a great group.  Lots of success shared here that is inspiring Innocentand motivation that we CAN do this at any age Wink .  Lou

Welcome Nancy- I just read your post and I am cheering you on. I usually don't visit this group so much but I realize I need all the support I can get!!! I am 65 , 5'2" and I have lost 165lbs since April 1st 2010. I have struggled  with my weight all my adult life. Yikes I am a total yo-you queen.  If you are interested  I posted on my Bio page my weight loss journey.

At the moment I am trying to loose the last 20 lbs and it is going at a glacial speed. It's slower then molasses in January. I'd like to get  down to 140 by the end of the month but I don't think it's going to happen. I will be just happy to stay in the 140's.

I do know that the key to my success is to keep a positive attitude, exercise  6 days a week (either that or garden like crazy) and keep my carbs down to 100g or below. I have been doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and that has really helped get me out of the 150's. You can do HIIT with any type of exercise - the key is to have short bursts of all out gut busting exercise  say for 30 sec to a minute and then back down to moderate or even slow up again to super fast.  These days I am doing circuit training -doing lower body one day alternating with upper body the next.

Wish you happy scales and a successful weight loss journey. All the best, Sarah

Welcome Nancy. I joined almost 6 weeks ago and I love this site. It's practical, makes sense and keeps me focused on what I am eating. Before this I would just turn a blind eye and tell myself that I was too old to be worried about what I look like. Now I think about the nutrition and exercise and how they affect how I feel. I feel good about myself! I'm trying new exercises and realize how little I did before. I've only lost 4-5 pounds so far, but I keep telling myself it took a long time to gain the pounds so the longer it takes to get them off, the longer they'll stay off. I'm 61 and lovin' it!
