New! Wanna be friends?
Hey, I'm new! I just joined today, and I think this site is already WONDERFUL. I think it'll help me a lot ;)
I'm 16 years old, 5'4. Currently 175-ish, and my goal weight is 135-140. I've always struggled with my weight ever since I was a little girl. Always been the chubby kid! Some things I enjoy include playing tennis, piano, violin, guitar, guitar HERO!, baking (and eating), listening to new music, meeting new people, I just love life and everything about it :)
Don't really know what else to say! I just want to be friends with people! Don't have any yet, haha. Oh, and motivational words are very much welcome :)
Hey
I joined a couple of weeks ago and I have been able to look at all the cool stuff here and I don't have any freinds either,!!! I am 42 yeah I know I have 3 kids 21 and 10 and 7 . Been marreid for 13 years and I haved lost 46 pounds with weight watchers and I would like to lose 20 more!! I really like this site and would like to have people to blog too when I need some support!!!! I hope to hear from you soon!!!
i'm a newbie here too, and have yet to make any friends. I am 31, 177 lbs, and am wanting to get down to 135ish. I have 4 kids...14, 9, 3 and 5 months. I am really enjoying this place, but think it would be nice to have a friend or two. It always helps to have support as well as giving support to others! Good Luck !![]()
I guess there's always gonna be some newbs coming on here. And I am one of them as well. I'm new to this site as well as calorie counting. Man, has it ever opened my eyes to what I am eating!
I'm 31 , 177 lbs. This is my plateau, as I go up and down a few lbs but end up right back here again. But am wanting to get down to 135 lbs. I am married with 2 kids - 5 and 3 yrs old.
(I sound similar to melindavest, previous poster) :)
Not sure how all this works quite yet, so having a few friends to help and motivate would be great as well.
Hi! I'm 24, 5'4 and 143 - looking to be 130 for the short term and 120 eventually. I joined CC about 2 weeks ago and haven't found a good group that messages regularly. This group sounds fun if we are all committed to staying in touch and supporting each other!
Welcome! We can keep messaging on this thread ;)
shanleetay77, we sound alike. 183 was the highest I ever got up to, which was about two years ago. I dropped to about 168 after a couple of months. And recently I just started gaining it back due to stress from school, and I just let myself go. I went back up to 179, lost a couple pounds, and joined CC where I'm now 175 :)
I've been changing my daily routine to: Wake up usually at 9 (no job, just turned 16, living with parents), eat a small healthy breakfast, go to the gym at 1:00 for ~2 hrs, come home, eat a snack, shower, fill up time, eat dinner, etc.
I'm really excited to see how this will go. I just want to press fast forward and see if this will really work! I think it will ;) We can do it, guys!
Articmonkey- I love your enthusiasm! :) I was wondering if you've thought about adding another meal in there between breakfast and your snack after your workout. Six hours without food is quite a while! (I can't do it haha).
Yeah, fasting forward would be awesome... I feel like this website helps with not being able to fast forward though- the beginning of a diet is exciting and motivating but then there are those times when I question what I'm doing and this website has been helping me stay on track!
Thanks Cindy! On days that I don't go to the gym, I would probably add another meal, but I heard that if you work out on an empty stomach, you burn the stored fat instead of the food you just ate. And I want to burn that stored fat! Plus, I don't want to be full when I work out because I've just started running and I don't want to vomit! Haha.
I could probably fit in something an hour or two before I go, because I have been low on my calorie intake. Today I kind of unintentionally skipped lunch because I was at the gym much longer than expected (I threw in a game of basketball with my brothers at the end!). I'm done eating for today and it says in my food log that I only ate 900-some calories!
Sometimes I hesitate to eat because I want to lose this weight so badly. So I feel like if I stay light, and exercise a lot, it'll come off like a charm.
This website IS very motivating! If you ever feel like giving up, there's tons of people pushing you to keep going, it's beyond wonderful :D I hope you can stay on track to reach your goal weight and you will!!
I joined about a month ago but just started using the site this past week and so far I am very impressed. I am starting my new healthy life for about 1001 time this past Monday and to make it really stick this time I am going to need all the support I can get.
I am currently at my heaviest ever and while it is very depressing I am so hopeful and focused on changing things that I am not letting it keep me down.
Per CC calculator I have 53 pounds to loose but to be honest I would be happy if I lost 52!
I think it is awesome that at 16 you are so full of life and have started caring for your health now. Good luck on your journey!
PS - I suck at juitar hero but it is so much fun!
Guitar Hero is so much fun! I play soooo much, I'm on expert :D Haha.
elaughter, I love your attitude ;) Stay positive and you can get those pounds off! This site helps a lot, there's motivation all around you. Good luck!
i LOVE guitar hero! and arcticmonkey i am IMPRESSED that you play on expert, i just started playing hard and have come to the conclusion that my pinky will never reach orange! haha
I would like friends too!! 43, female, 235 lbs..new to the site, and encouraged to lose at least 100 lbs. Wow...that's a lot!!!
Hahaha, when I first got it, playing on easy was the hardest thing ever! I took a look at expert, and I almost had a seizure! But I've been playing for a really long time, I've gotten used to the speed of expert :D When there's an orange note, just shift your hand up and use it as if it were the blue button. And when there's no more orange notes around, shift back down to the normal position! It may also help that I've been playing violin for 6+ years, and guitar for a year :D
Welcome jenlyn_63! While 100 may seem like such an intimidating number, try to break it down to 10 parts. Just think of losing 10 pounds at a time, and it won't seem so intimidating :) Once you make some lifestyle changes, I think the pounds will come off quick, and will motivate you to keep going. Plus there's support all around you here! I've only been calorie-counting for a week, and I'm so pumped! I get on here everyday and read about people's success; I just feel so motivated. Good luck, you can do it ;) !
Hello! I'm new as well. 26, female. I'm 5'3" and currently 183 pounds. I've already lost 58 pounds, and just discovered this website. Hoping it helps me keep on track!
d00r- I seem to have hit my plateau as well. I go up a few, back down to 183, and back up again. Very frustrating! Hoping to learn ways of breaking through this on here.
shanleetay77- Glad to hear your mother is doing well. ![]()
jenlyn_63- Yup. 100 pounds is a lot. But it's doable! (Well... I hope. Hehe) But arcticmonkey is right, break it down to smaller numbers. And then one day you'll wake up and realize that you've lost 40, 60... 100 pounds!
xoxo
I'll be a friend too!
I'm really just getting started with losing the extra weight I've been steadily putting on for years. Right now I'm 22 and (according to this site) have 50 pounds to lose. Really, though, I'm far more concerned with just feeling better. It's hard for me to get motivated to get moving, and really easy to eat when I'm not moving. I need to get over the stupid thought that people are going to poke fun at me if I am walking/jogging/whatever past them. Then maybe it won't be so hard to get out there and do it.
Anyway, I'm so glad to have found this website at the beginning. I think it will make things so much nicer in the long run!
I accidentally double posted... sorry!
standing up while you play GH burns calories!!! :)
Everyone has such great enthusiasm!
Dazzlingnoun, motivation is my problem too. Even though I know that I always feel good after I work out, I still have such a hard time making myself do it, I always think "I'm too tired, I deserve to rest." But don't worry about people making fun. I joined a beginners running group, and thought for sure I would be the "fattest" or slowest person there. But it's been the best expeirence. Everyone is so supportive, and it's not competitive at all, because we are all beginners. The class is called Learn to Run, and that's exactly how everyone feels. Every week I think, I can't do it, and then I do and it feels amazing. If I can do it, anyone can!
welcome to cc!
i'm erica. :)
i'm 16 years old too and 140 lbs at 5'2" looking to get down to 115-120!
