I am new here and just want to say hello
HI,
I am new here, too. I started 2 weeks ago but haven't really gotten into the postings and forums yet. I noticed your message because I, too, am 45 years old. Doesn't seem possible, but it is true! I'm at 204 right now - lost 6 pounds so far. Aiming for 165 by Oct. 1, 2008. Then another 20 or so after that. I don't think I'll ever get much below that - but I'm pretty tall (5'8") so I hope 145 will look okay on me. Nice to "meet" you - if you want to respond, I'd love to hear from you.
Hi there! You sound just like me! A couple years ago I went from 198 to 138, I tried to promise myself I'd never go over a size 10/12 ever again.. well here I am - I didn't stop at 153 like you did though...I went over the top and then some. I'm 209 trying to lose 60 by Nov 08. ..it is a challenge but if I don't obssess over it, it won't happen.
Hey Justamom, good luck to you too on your Oct goal!
Welcome, I've only been here a few weeks, but I love it. I'm about to turn 44 so I'm right there with ya. This site has already helped me lose 7 pounds, so about 30 more to go and I'm giving myself plenty of time because I want to do it right and change my eating habits so it will stick.
Good luck and happy eating!
HI thinkn_thin and karozel
Looks like we are all pretty much in the same boat. I've got about the same to lose as thinkn_thin and I'm about the same age as karozel. Maybe we can keep encouraging each other with our own little group here online. So, if you agree, let me know and we can get to know each other a little better. I've never done this sort of thing online before, but it would be fun to log in each day and find some messages once in awhile.
Have a great day. I'm making a traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner tonight (a day early, I know) - but planning on only eating a TINY bit of corned beef and potatoes and lots of cabbage.
I just joined today. I am 48, also did ww, lost weight and then gained it all back plus some after sustaining an injury and going through menopause (which really stinks!) .
I've been enjoying reading everyone's posts and realizing that I am not alone in this effort!
Welcome everyone!
I am new here as well. We all seem to be around the same age... I am 45 years old, 5'8" and currently 175lb.
I've lost 70 pounds so far and have about 20 to go... unfortunately, I seem to have hit a major plateau. No weight loss in over 4 months! I am glad I have maintained without gaining but really want to get those last pounds off!
I am hoping the key will be to increase and vary my exercise! I have been reading some of the posts and it seems to be very supportive.
Maybe we can support each other in our weight loss efforts!
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone -

Did anyone else eat Corned Beef for St. Pat's day? I made it yesterday (Sunday) because I had more time than today. And, I did check CC+ - YIKES - before eating it, but I had a little anyways. I had lots of cabbage, not too many potatoes and just a few ounces of corned beef - it was yummy! Sure can't eat that everyday though. I wonder why I've never seen a fat leprechaun!
Okay, I'll be next

No corned beef for me. I worked too long in an Irish pub, used to serve corned beef, with cabbage, culcahnen(sp?) and soda bread along with Black & Tans all day long on St. Patty's so I got sick of it.

No corned beef and cabbage for us, I have only made it once and it was not so good! I made an Irish bread yesterday... It is something that my entire family enjoys... and I only ate a small piece.
Good to hear from you ctmom and karozel! Sounds like we do all share some things in common. I hope the other posters (thinkn_thin, kkatilie and auddit) will join us.
So, ctmom, when you get down to your goal weight, I'll share with you my "secret" recipe for really good corned beef. Just remind me then! okay?
Karozel: my husband spent a couple of years in Yukon, OK, is that anywhere near you? He was just a teenager at the time. All he remembers is that there was NOTHING to do there (except cause trouble, I suspect ;)
Have a great day!
@justamon, yukon is about 45 minutes from here. I've only been there to take my foster daughter to visit her aunt, so I can't really say much about it, but it's right near OKC where you can do just about anything if you can drive.
Glad to hear from you guys, I'll add you to my friends so we can keep in touch.
Happy St. Pat's!!!
HI karozel and ctmom
What's going on? hope you are both doing okay. I went out to Applebee's for a quick dinner last night. It's the first time I've been out to eat since starting CC+ (well, if you don't count the subway sandwich healthy subs I sometimes eat for lunch). Anyway, it was sort of weird ordering off the lo-cal menu. I'd usually go straight for the appetizers, french onion soup, and cheese-filled entree or dressing-filled salad. But, the lo-cal/low-fat chicken, portobello sandwich was pretty good. Not great, but good.
Just wanted to see how both of you are doing. Hope you'll post a reply.
Hi karozel and justamom!
Things have been very busy for me at work this week and I have had limited access to my computer. It's been busy but I have managed to make decent food choices for the most part. We may go out to dinner tonight with the kids, we go once in a while and I do allow myself to eat what I want. I eat about half of the entree and take the rest home.
I have found since beginning this weight loss journey that in order to stay on track, I had to make it a lifestyle change. I do not call anything off limits. Moderation is the key.
Take care ladies!
Hello again!
justamom, mmm, I love the portobello chicken sandwich at Applebee's.
ctmomof4, I like the idea of eating 1/2 and taking the rest home, I've done it a couple of times.
I've actually had a stomach bug the last couple of days, so I've barely eaten anything until last night. Then since I was feeling a bit better, my husband suggested going out to eat. Small world! We went to a local steak house and I order a small steak with a baked potato (butter on the side) and soup.
When the soup came I couldn't eat it because it was creamy (not the diet thing, but since my stomach was still recovering I thought it best to pass), so I ate a roll instead. A great dinner and since I'd only eaten about 400 calories on Tuesday, I figured I could eat whatever I wanted... too bad my tummy could only handle a little. LOL.
Now, if I could just get over still feeling somewhat weak... haven't been on the treadmill since Saturday, and not going to try today. Maybe this weekend. Gotta give the body time to recover from this bug, not gonna push since the stairs at work made me light headed today.
Hi everyone! Here's my story:

I agree with ctmomof4 - this is a lifestyle change! I am determined that this will be the last time I lose this weight!
We did not have corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty's day but my daughter is coming home from school and asked that I make it this weekend. I figure I will do some extra exercise so I can have a bit!
Welcome kkatilie!
I hope you enjoy the weekend with your daughter! I love watching Biggest Loser as well. My husband does not see the appeal and seems to walk in when someone on the show is crying! (and there has been a lot of crying on the current Biggest Loser Couples!)
My husband has actually been watching it with me! Wish I could have all day to work out and concentrate on me....
Survived the corned beef - was good and had a very small piece with LOTS of cabbage!
Anyone have any thoughts on how to survive 4 days eating out? I have to go to NYC next week and will be eating out morning, noon and night
hi kkatilie,
If we all had a personal trainer... I think I would lose my muffin and all my excess weight with one of those trainers telling me exactly what to do! They work out for hours on that show!
Glad you survived the corned beef... as for 4 days eating out... choose carefully, go for grilled, no sauces and watch the salad dressing... get it on the side and use sparingly. Watch out at breakfast, pancakes have lots of calories!
Good Luck!!
thanks ctmomof4! I hadn't even thought about breakfast! If i stick to fruit and maybe 1/2 a bagel (no cream cheese), I should do ok there. Gotta have bagels up in NYC!
:-( no sauces! You are right but gosh what a bummer!
Is there a safe diet pill for teens?
Orlistat, marketed as Xenical by prescription and over-the-counter Alli, is the only drug approved by the FDA for teens ages 12 to 16... Read more
