I am new here and just want to say hello

I am new to your community. I am 45 years old and have successfully gone from 226 in July of 2006 to 137  but am now back up to 153. I have done ww to get my weight off but I have just gotten tired of the endless point counting  so I have decided to just  watch calories and exercise to get to my final goal of 130.

Good morning everyone!

Hi Kkatilie - welcome. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say "hi" to you until now.

Well, how did everyone survive Easter dinner? Did you all do okay? I was determined to stick to a good eating plan, despite the holiday, but it was sure hard. This was a big test weekend for me - my husband and I went out for dinner on Friday night (I think it was 6 months ago that we had our last "date night"w/o the kids), then we went to a retirement party with yummy homemade Mexican food on Sat. night, and then Easter on Sunday. I did fine, calorie-wise, but I must admit to feeling deprived. FrownBut since I only started this weight challenge seriously 3 weeks ago, I wasn't willing to take a "free day" to eat whatever I wanted yet. Maybe when the next holiday (Mother's Day?) rolls around, I'll be at a point to have a cheat meal.

Here's to a great week, in all ways, for everyone.

Kkatilie: good luck in NYC! I can taste that good NY bagel just thinking about it! Can I add you to my friends list?

Karozel:  hope you are finally feeling better and have your energy back.

Ctmomof4:  good advice to Kkatilie;I hope you have a good week, too.

Hi all!

@kkatilie -- Hi, glad to have you here!  Good luck on your trip!

I'm back in the swing of things and ready to get back on the treadmill today.  I gave myself the weekend off to fully recover, but really got some exercise yesterday spending a bunch of time shopping, so got a mini-workout.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi everyone!

It was nice to hear from you justamom.  karozel, glad you are feeling better.  How are you doing on your trip kkatielie?  Everyone else out there, we would love to hear from you!

I hope everyone had a nice Easter, if you celebrate Easter.  We had a nice day.  I made a delicious ham dinner.  I did have a few home made anise cookies, they were delicious but over all, did fine.

I have been exercising first thing in the morning for the last few days and I like the energy it gives me!  I was off today and since I had all of this energy, I did my spring cleaning!

Ahhh . . .spring cleaning, I did my "spring bill paying" - does that count?  Wink

I met a new person online, same general "stats" as us and I'd like to ask her to join our little online party - how do I get her linked to this forum? Does anyone know?

Bye for now.

HI Everyone -

 Hello? Are you out there?

I'd love to hear an update on how everyone is doing.

I made it to the "lost 10 pounds" mark today! I do something kind of weird, when I lose a pound or 2, I don't "trust" it right away -- so I wait about 2 more days and then weigh myself again. That way, in case it was just a quick dip and not true weight loss, I won't be discouraged when the number goes back up a little. I know I shouldn't just have my eye on the scale, but right now I need the feedback that those numbers are giving me. So today I officially recorded it as having made it to the 10 pound mark. 35 more to go by 10/1/08 (I hope).

I hope you are all doing great. Write in!

HI Milo -

Welcome! I started CC+ on March 3 and the others in the online forum all started recently, too.

So - have you already lost the 80 pounds and are wanting to keep it off, or are you on your way to losing it? Funny -the phrase: "losing it" - we all feel that way sometimes, now don't we?

Have you started your CC+ food logs and all that stuff? It seemed a little confusing to me at first, but now I do pretty well with it.

I've been fortunate enough to visit Canada twice in the past 2 years and I LOVE IT! I'm from HOT HOT HOT Arizona and I just can't get enough of your wonderful cool weather. We were in Vancouver and Victoria in '06 and again in Victoria in '07. My favorite - the Granville Island Market with all those fresh summer berries. WOW. Are you in British Columbia? If so, you know we have one of your favorite sons down here, Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns Basketball player.

Hope to hear from you soon. Keep up the good work.

Hi Everyone,

I just found this site yesterday. I am 56. 5'8" and 219. I've tried WW before and eventually give up. I am married (33 yrs) and have a 31 yr old daughter. I've set a very modest goal of 199 by June 30.

I hope to give and get support from others in the same situation.Laughing

Hi everyone,

It has been a busy week!  Welcome to milo and kcm624.  Congrats on hitting the 10 pound weight loss mark justamom and to milo for losing 80 pounds!

Hello all and welcome to the new kids!

Wow milo you are lucky to have a husband who cleans!  Mine is also wonderful about it.  I have allergies so dusting and vaccuuming are practically impossible for me unless I want to have a sneezing fit and walk around sniffling the rest of the day.  So, he gets those wonderful chores!

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm with justamom at that "10 pounds lost" mark. I've been stuck there for a week now, but I'm just waiting it out.  I know we can keep going.

I've been back on the treadmill and walked 10 miles this week.  My physical therapist (shoulder surgery) said I could try jogging next week, so I should be able to get farther faster then.  Yeah!!!

kcm624 that sounds like a great and achievable goal.  Glad to have you with us!

hi karozel, ctmomof4, justamom ( you really shouldnt call yourself just a mom, you should say I AM A MOMSmile>>> it is a very important job....)

welcome as well to kcm624!

HI All

To omghelp - I have to explain my "justamom" name. I agree with you and actually feel that being a mom is one of the highest callings (followed closely by teaching) and I use the title "just-a-mom" in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. Before I had kids, I was a practicing attorney. When I decided to stay home with my children, and live on my husband's blue-collar salary, many of my ex-attorney "friends" said very derisively that they couldn't believe I was going to quit law to become just a mom.

So, I took the title as a point of pride. I use it in everything - if it isn't already claimed by someone else, it is my sign on for all kinds of sites. It's funny for the 15+ years I've been using the name, you are the ONLY person who has ever mentioned it. Years ago, I kept waiting for someone to ask -- and now you did! Kiss

So that's the story behind the name. BTW, my real name is Sue, if anyone wants to use that, it's okay by me.

Welcome to our new friends. So glad you have joined us in the 40 and over club. Happy weight loss to all.

kcm624 - your goal of 199 sounds great to me! Won't it be wonderful to see "that" number start with a one instead of a two!

If it's okay with you kcm624 and omghelp, I'm going to add both of you as friends.

Thanks.

Hi everyone! I just got back from my trip last night and was catching up on everyone's entries. I love what Sue wrote about "JustAMom". I was fortunate to be able to stay home for 11 years with my kids when they were younger and I had the same reaction from everyone, including my family! Thank goodness I had a supportive husband!

Welcome to all the new members! I love hearing how everyone is doing! I am giving myself 2 days back from my trip before I weight myself. If I just maintain, I'll be happy!

KKatilie - I hope you had a great time on your trip. Tell us about it. I don't think you ever said if it was for business or pleasure. I've never been to NY - what was the highlight for you? I think it is a great idea to give yourself a few days before stepping on the scale. And don't worry if that number bumps up a little; you are doing great and it will go down again.

Everyone else -- how's it going? Want to post some weight loss stats or favorite new lo-cal recipes?

I've been craving chocolate a little bit lately (which I don't usually crave too much) so just now I fixed myself a yoplait coconut cream yogurt (the 190 calorie kind - but worth it) with 1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa mixed in. It just added a little chocolate kick to the yogurt and I really enjoyed it. I'll call that my afternoon snack for today.

Take Care All.

Hi everyone,

I have enjoyed catching up on the posts.  I like your name story justamom!  Kkatilie, welcome home!

It has just been so busy, I manage to get my calories logged and that is about it lately.  omghelp, I hear you with the emotional eating.  So many struggle with that.  Congrats on keeping 8u0 pounds off for a year.  You have beaten the statistics!  I lost 70 pounds, trying for 20 more but I have been going up and down the same 5 pounds for a few months now.  I am hoping with the recent changes in my exercise pattern, that will change.  I am down to my low weight and want to keep that trend going!  I know I can do it, I just have to be patient and not give up!

Hope everyone is doing well.  It's fun reading up on what/how everyone is doing!

I just made a new journal page with my goals for April.  Maybe I can get to them this monthEmbarassed.  Last month I didn't quite make my weight loss goal, nor did I make my mileage goal because I took a week off with the stomach bug.  Grrrrrr, you would think the stomach bug would have taken care of the weight goal.

Got to take a mini-trip this weekend, taking my grandkids to a bowling tournament.  Always fun!  I also discovered that even though I have an allergy to fresh fruit and veg. (Oral Allergy Syndrome) it turns out I can eat fruit in yogurts.  Yum!!!  I had been sticking to the vanilla or chocolate, now I have a whole new world of yogurts I can try!

How's everyone today? I just bought a new scale yesterday. Hmm. . .now I have a problem. My old scale was off (which I, ahem,  sort of kind of knew, but I ignored since it was showing me lighter than actual size ). The new scale reads 2.5 pounds heavier and it is that 2.5 pounds that puts me under the 200 mark. Right now the old scale says 198, new scale says 200.5 -- of course, I know that ultimately the weight loss is the same (12 pounds so far) but I really want to believe my number is in the 100s not the 200s; so for now I think I'm going to just go with the old figures. Maybe over time, I'll sort of "ease" that 2.5 pounds into the record of the weight I'm losing and adjust to the new scale.

Am I crazy or what? What would you do?

How is everyone doing?  I finally broke my plateau of the last 2 weeks and lost another 2 pounds!  Still having troulbe getting my exercise in.  I had a nasty cold that kept me off the treadmill the last few days, but I'm back on it today.

I don't understand, I've been sicker this year than any before, and that's after quitting smoking a year ago, losing a little weight, exercising, and eating a lot better.  I'm tempted to chuck it all and go back to being unhealthy (not reallyWink but it is frustrating)!

How's the new scale justamom?  What did you decide to do?  I would probably put in the weight from the new scale and just make a note that it's a new scale, not a weight gain :)
